By the sound of things it looks like ME3's plot is even worse than Ninja Gaiden 2's.... I didn't think such a thing was possible.

NG2's plot had my babe Elizebet get naked and take a blood bath for no reason, I doubt ME3 will have something as awesome as that to make up for the Cerberus/TIM butchering. :P

It's not that it's bad, per see. It's very much in the mold of your typical Mass Effect game.

It's just that Mass Effect in general, and Bioware in particular, struggles to put evil in any sort of plausible context. The summary (and again, it's just a pre-lim summary) treats Cerberus pretty much like ME1 treated Cerberus: 'here are bad people doing horrible things for little or no reason.'  The only non-tactical Cerberus motivation given throughout the entire outline is TIM's own... which is actually pretty good, but doesn't cover most of the Cerberus activities.

It also struggles a bit with scope and scale considerations, but Mass Effect has always struggled with that.

It's going to be a good game. Cerberus is just woefully under-characterized into generic villainy.

That's what I was about to say when I saw your first post mentioning NG2.

NG can make up for an absurd plot with fortuitous boobage. ME cannot.

You don't believe Liara's adequate?

I was looking at her face, you libidinous lesboid.

It's not fortuitous nor is it there to make up for anything. Whenever BioWare sexualize any character (particularly female characters) legions of fans will cry in outrage about the lack of respect and 'depth', objectification, sexism, etc. That's why their hands are tied.

It depends. If they're sexualized in a sexual situation, there's no problem. Sexualized in situations that have nothing to do with sex... yes, I can see problems arising.

Never mind.

Instead, according to the spoilers,, let me say that it is with great irony that TIM's intention is instrumental in preventing the greatest genocide of all time.

So he'll remain of use right up until his own death?

That's kind of what Ninja Gaiden games (and Bayonetta, and many Japanese games) are all about. I think you'll enjoy these:

That's what "fortuitous" in "fortuitous boobage" is about. o__O

My reaction about 43 seconds into the second one was something like "USE WORDS!"

Hmm, I should play Bayonetta again sometime soon...

And Xil, so should you. I have a feeling you would quite like that universe.

Past it, even.

Oh, and just because I can: hey, Xil, you've been wrong for the past half year. TIM hasn't sworn allegiance to the Reapers.

And to think, if you had arrested/killed him when you wanted, you'd never even get the option to avert epic genocide.

What's wrong, Xili? Too cool for Bayonetta?

Well, that wasn't expected. ~_o

So, did Bioware ever say what Cerberus was originally intended to be? I've heard whispers about Shepard joining them and being betrayed in ME 1.

I was always open to him being an ally against the Reapers if he was willing to work with me.

...he spends all of ME 2 working with you. He brought you back from the grave to work with you. How is that not being willing to work with you?

No, you weren't.

In fact, you quite regularly insistent about his true allegience, that he had served his use and had no role left to play, and therefore shouldn't be allowed to do anything else, proof being his true allegience. And then the cycle of logic would repeat, sometimes fading out with a 'we shall see' when challenged about his allegiences.

You've never been utilitarian about TIM. You've been ex-post-facto self-rationalizing while objective to even the prospect of future viability.

And consistently repeated the error without basis. Oh well indeed.

But your position was your position, and it's poor form to lie about it after the fact to make yourself sound better.

I just want to see TIM once again, before ME and me are separated. The ME universe and I, we're too different to be happy together, our ways part too much from here.

Watch him on youtube but don't waste your money.

He's a mixed bag in ME3 depending on your alignment.
