Here's a YT (courtesy of Didymos) that shows cut audio files where TIM recognizes Renegade Shepard's alignment, praises him/her for being pragmatic and mentions that his/her history showed that s/he would be agreeable to his cause.

YT Vid Link

God damn, as if we didn't have enough evidence that the Renegade/Cerberus path is one big cut corner and tacked on troll mode. This **** pisses me off.

They should have cut Sheploo's face and replaced it with a lemming instead of cutting this dialogue.

Of course, give no credit to the one who gave you that link in the first place. >_>

Ah, so someone cut corners with and tacked a troll mode onto Seb as well?

If in-game TIM had said "You're a very pragmatic woman Shepard..." my femshep would have blushed and swooned all over him. <3

Maybe that's why they cut it out?

My thoughts on the matter: They had written those lines around the same time they created the lines for the Collector Base decision, half deciding to keep it and half deciding to blow it up.

It seems to me that their mind changed, Cerberus was to become a villain for ME3 and to remove Shepard leaving TIM on good terms (rather than being forced to blow him off regardless of ending), they cut the dialogue and kept the paragon version in and then wrote the epilogue lines for the squad.

This frustrates me more because the writers understand where we're coming from, they just refuse to acknowledge it. (Rather than just thinking they absolutely had no idea)

You're implying that Bioware planned this much in advance? Silly Dave, we all know the entire game would still be Shepard working with Cerberus if we'd have another third of the fanbase on our side.

I'd just like to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, why have that subtle indicator in Arrival that you could continue working with Cerberus(Hackett only mentions it's no longer a Cerberus ship if the base was destroyed) or state that TIM is open to further cooperation with Shepard and even Anderson in Retribution?

Heck, even in the paragon base destroyed ending both TIM and Parashep have lines that express a desire to continue working together.

The Illusive Man sat down in his chair, he sipped his Vorcha-brewed Tuchankan brandy. Something always intrigued him about this particular brand of liquor, it went down quite smooth despite one might assume something brewed for Krogan would taste like.

Though it was no matter, more important matters were occuring. Yes, today was the day. Today was the day he wouldn't need to believe Gavorn's li- he stopped mid-thought, he put down the brandy and ordered Wendy into the chamber, she was a homely lass, though her dedication to the cause attracted his attention personally.

"Wendy, would you be a dear and destroy all contents of this alcohol? It might be having adverse effects on my mind."

She nodded and carried the glass away, leaving him to ponder in thought alone in his chamber. Something disturbed him, something unusual. No, it wasn't that he didn't have a glass of liquor in his hand at that moment. He felt like somebody was writing poor fan fiction about him

A door creaked open slowly on the far side of the chamber, a man walked through.

"Just the man I wanted to see." he uttered, swirling an imaginary glass of alcohol in his hand.

He calculated whether he wanted to tell Kai Leng, it was something which he was still debating upon. Ever since Drew Karpyshyn read his mind while writing Retribution, he felt something was wrong, though he couldn't tell you what it was.

"I've got a plan, Kai Leng. Something which can secure human dominance, we'd never be threatened again."

Kai Leng peeked up, he was obviously intrigued by this so-called "plan".

"We fight Shepard, he has proven himself a valuable ally to our cause but I feel we should fight him. Create an army of soldiers, refute any offer of interest in joining our cause and implant yourself with Reaper technology while kicking puppies. Humanity's fate in the galaxy depends on it."

The Illusive Man would've fallen down to his knees listening to himself utter those words, he realized he wasn't in control of his actions anymore. He tried to scream for help, though only silence came from it. His body wasn't his anymore.

Kai Leng briefly looked confused, who wouldn't be after hearing something like this. He nodded, thus transforming himself into a generic villain and walked out, his devotion to the cause removing any thought process to the orders given to him.

"What's happening to me?" was the only thought he had as his body casually ordered thousands of babies to be drowned on his viewscreen, his body lost to some unknowable force.

"Writer interference" said Mac Walters before laughing maniacally

I'll admit, I laughed. Rather hard, in fact.

Looks like we have another early post of the year contender on our hands here.

Dave did you cut some content that explained why they made TIM a womanizer but not have him try to womanize femshep?

Originally, there was a huge plot about it but we replaced it to fit in Team Dextro.

That doesn't make any sense really.

Even if Cerberus was destined at this time to be a villain (and I'm positive they weren't), then it would work just as well to have Shepard think their partnership is still going strong when all of a sudden TIM drops the bombshell in ME3.

Same with Daro'Xen. We should have been able to totally take her side and make a friend/ally in her, which would make her (possible) enmnity in ME3 all the more dramatic.

However I don't think Bioware planned any of this so far ahead. The ending to ME2 is still rather ambiguous and that ambiguity stays right up to Retribution, LOTSB, and Arrival. It was only when the firsts shots of ME3 were finally revealed that an antagonist role for Cerberus was certain.

Up until that point I think Bioware was keeping all options on the table.

This explains the oddity of Renegade Shepard being scolded by TIM for being "idealistic".

Wonder if there's cut audio of Renegade Shepard wanting to continue the partnership?

Bioware could've kept the partnership going but they included Shepard going "herpaderp" at the end and then made the companions tell you that you screwed up. The writers really suck at foreshadowing, though. It made it painfully obvious that Collector Base = screw up and bad, whether or not it was ambiguous.

They've could've surprised us, though it was clear the intentions of the writers changed halfway with the inconsistencies involving the ending.

This is one of many indicators that ME2 was rushed and how chaotic it's development was. Another great example I would say is something as important as the Shadow Broker working for the Collectors being relegated to a DLC mission while a bunch of irrelevant daddy issues are part of the core game.

Remembere that whole batarain subplot in ME1 where Balak hinted that Terra Nova was just a taste of things to come? Whatever happened to that?

In retrospect I'm very surprised that ME2 didn't feature of the batarians as one of its primary factions/antagonists.

They do when your works generally mock other people.
