"Shepard, I want you to walk into this trap and take no precautions because this is our only chance and if the Collectors are tipped off then it is all for naught.

I need you to lie to your crew, Shepard."

Need to know basis, remember that (that goes for all of you).

Even Mordin and (possibly) Shepard agree in the end.

"Shepard, given our intelligence on the Collectors, there's a good chance that they've left something unpleasant behind.  Expect the worst."

This is a reasonable statement that doesn't tip off the Collectors if they get intel from the Shadow Broker; any person would come to the same conclusion when they see an abandoned, hostile enemy ship.  This way, when TIM reveals that he knew that it was a trap, his reasonsable "I couldn't risk them finding out we knew"  has the added bonus of a "but I did my best to warn you without letting them know."

I already said that not telling Shepard because of security concerns is understandable.

He'd still be lying to you though so what's the difference?

That one has a touch of class, though. The cigarrete gives the impresion that he's still Human, somehow.

He's still a bad Final Fantasy or Star Craft villain with those spines coming off of his back.

Gave me a good chuckel. But isn't that just early concept art and not the finale version?

I liked the two other concept arts.

Early or not that they even considered such garbage doesn't bode well.

To be fair, a lot of the early concepts change quite a bit, and often for the better. As much grief as the Termi-Reaper got, Reaper-Fetus abortion would have been worse. Both share a concept thought (Reapers are created from organics), but the execution differs wildly.

I agree that I dislike the 'TIM is Saren 2.0' thinking that went behind the process... but that's more on the principal of 'already been done' and 'unnecessary.'

To a point.

If he weren't indoctrinated, it might actually be pulled off as a 'I have mastered the unmasterable and expanded the limits.' The victory over Reaper infestation, rather than the surrender to it. That's why I like the cigarrete: it shows that the non-machine is still active.

I like this idea. Would fit his character well while still leaving some room for him to be repulsive to Paragons.

Sadly, Bioware doesn't think like that, and so we get stuck with concepts that are just....well, dumb.

Not too bad. My hard drive quit on me a few months back, and I've been having to reconstruct most of my data -including my Mass Effect games- from the ground up, which is the reason for my Mysterious Absence of Mysteriousness. Ah well. Universe, man.

Let's just  say that my already low expectations proved to be too high and what they did to TIM is just the tip of the iceberg that's the trainwreck called ME3.

TIM being indoctrinated works against his character. He's not interesting if he's just doing what the Reapers want him to do. If he's not himself anymore.

The spikes from his back kills it for me, gives him too much of an "evil monster" look. I don't mind his face and body glowing blue, just remove the spikes.

I think Cerberus as a whole is less interesting when you turn them into clear enemies with no chance to be able to cooperate.

Apparently TIM Is no longer indoctrinated, or so I hope.

When they showed footage of that 2nd demo video earlier last year there was a line with Shepard saying to Liara about Cerberus: They're indoctrinated.

Now that line is replaced by: They're capable of anything.

Basically, TIM turned out to be what nearly everyone outside a few people in this thread could see coming from ten miles away.
