I also think it would be very disappointing if the cerberus issue was just solved with a trivial "they are racists, they are morons, they are evil", it seems obvious to me that in the plot original intention the illusive man was supposed to know something more than the rest of the galaxy about the reapers.
I still wonder why they decided to turn cerberus into a human-supremacist organization in me2, I guess that this is why eventually they had to became just pure evil army.
Anyway I will give my trust to the writers and hope they are going to surprise me.

*sorry for my english, i refuse to use the google translator since it'd be worse

You're English is fine.

I'm not a terribly big fan of the LOLOL UR EVIL approach to making effective villains, but it seems like that will be the case in ME3.

Ah yes, the article:

In the end it's rather ironic as well, seeing how the majority of the BW fanbase looks down on Gears as just a mere shooter, not realising that Mass Effect has become the exact same thing by now... or rather, what it became two years ago already. The only the series still has up on Gears is a fancy dialogue simulator that ultimately doesn't really add anything to the experience, and a level select system in the form of the galaxy map.

Also, this seems like as good a time as any to post Prescott's brilliant speech from Gears 2.

Edit: I really need to stop juggling between BSN and so many other things; I'm getting ninja'd by everyone in here now...

I wish we got to choose our squadmates in Gears; I would have brought Baird everywhere. I would have saved Ben Carmine, too.

Well, that's the one semi-impressive thing ME2 still had over Gears; a large and diverse squad. Come ME3, however, we get a squads that's nearly half that one's size for the sake of "more character interaction", which means they might as well have given us a permanent 2/3 man squad, á la Gears.

Especially seeing how half the new squad already caters to one and the same niche (Garrus, Tali, Liara, and to some extent EDI and Prothy as well).

I think we should've stuck with posting pics of white girls.

She's still only half of what you requested, but I figure another pic of lovely Ms. Dizon wouldn't hurt:

Still a magnificent example of the best humanity has to offer, and one of my favorite pics of her as well.

I wonder how some of them do it. Beautiful without being intimidating, luring without being perverse. It really is threading the needle.

Good grief how come I am not one bit suprised you guys would lose to cerberus on purpose?

I have no plans to lose on purpose, especially when death means I have to re-assing squadpoints again. (ME2's system was better)

However I'm going to make victory as hard as possible.

I like a challenge.

I like how the Chairman Prescott character while having the same basic "douchebag politician" archetype as Udina is treated with far more respect. All the shady things he did ultimately ended up saving humanity.

Chairman Prescott is/was pretty badass.

Now, granted, all those medals on his chest he awarded himself, but he still gives a good speech.

That's essentially what seperates Prescott from Udina. People are more likely to accept a douchebag if that douchebag can make himself and his ideas sound good anyways.

It's about conscience. Prescott honestly tried to do what he thought was best. He had a great responsibility thrust onto him that he never wanted.

He was a person.

I fear that Bioware won't let TIM or Udina be actual people. I fear they aren't three-dimensional characters with complex motivations that explain their actions.

Udina's fate in ME3 is that of the "jerk" in any stereotypical movie. Udina isn't a real person, he is just there to be a jerk and get his comeuppance in the end.

That's okay though, apparently, because all the midndless BSN drones are pleased that they get to kill a character they don't like.

Not a very good message, Bioware. By letting us kill all the people we disagree with I'm not sure what lesson we're supposed to be learning.

"Udina isn't nice to me so he deserves to die."

It's just an extension of the whole "I am always right, the world is always wrong" nonsense.

I think it's more that what he did actually worked. If it hadn't, Prescott would have been vilified as usual. As it is, the Hammer of Dawn strikes and the rest accomplished (at least partially so) what they were supposed to.

This is the same reason Cerberus and Renegade Shepard have their smatterings of support. As questionable as some of the things they do are, they get results that might not have been gotten any other way.

Contrast with Udina, who basically exists to be ineffectual and unlikeable. [/quote]

But a lot of it IS about rhetoric too.

I really hate to bring this into the discussion, but I think we're all grown-ups here.

Think about politics. It's not about who has the best idea, or who's idea will likely work. It's about who's got the smoothest tongue, about who's charismatic enough.

Too bad the space jesus Paragon path and things existing in complete vacuums(even outside of PvsR) make the whole renegade path and Cerberus moot and just there for the lulz.

Oh and Prescott > ME3 TIM and Udina.

At least post the better quality and unedited versions of the intros Visari stars in.

Because let's be honest; taking away the proper context of those brilliant speeches hardly does Visari or Guerilla Games any justice.

To be quite honest, there isn't anything wrong with ME3 TIM, aside from the fact that he doesn't let us work with him. Which, if anything, is a flaw on Bioware's part and not his.

So apparently the ME franchise is the best written sci-fi in our history, it represents the "goodness found in others" and the "evils of humanity" in the form of Cerberus, who represents "our dark history with ****s, Hitler and groups thinking they're better than others" and how by remaining optimistic, one may conquer the evils.

My entire keyboard was bloodied by the time I finished reading, I hit my head a dozen or so times.

Where did you read that?

I'm still undecided about them, and it
will probably depend on how they're treated in Single Player. But
they're an awesome cross of vanguard and infiltrator, and if it's done
well in Single Player I'll be inclined to forgive the over-the-topness
if it's more akin to 'biotic commando' than 'ninja.'

I guess we have to see how they are presented. Although that wont stop me from getting bothered about the katana that they wield. I actually wonder if it would have been smarter if the phantoms actually used omni-blades like Shepard, it would be more practical right? You can jump around doing acrobatics without holding a giant sword.
