Chairman Mao is a good man, Renegade Shepard quotes him in "The Negotiation".

I will admit there's a difference; Mao was just a standard tyrant with a fatal misunderstanding of agriculture, while Pol Pot didn't seem to have any real goals other than mass murder.

Pol Pot had goals; they were just stupid.

And you speak as if Mao failed.
Yes he did make some terrible decisions but he did turn China from a feudal backwater country into a modern superpower.

Yes, but I suspect there were ways to do that that didn't involve killing millions with famine in two different but equally idiotic ways (the backyard steel foundries and sparrow purge being the ones I remember off the top of my head; the steel was terrible anyway).

Renegade Shepard thinks so and I'm not one to disagree.

Renegade Shepard is a strong woman, she perseveres in the face of Bioware's lopsided Paragon bias and Paragons labeling her a "jerk" and "evil".

A feminist icon she is.

I can only assume you're speaking in-character now, Seboist. Or I'd have to conclude you're off the rails :P

(that was about the Mao comment)

Of course not, I have no problem with killing a robot imposter of the real TIM.

You wouldn't believe how many melted barrels my Shepard has had to replace over putting Mao's quote into action.

Which quote? If that was in "The Negotiation", I don't recall it.

Shepard paraphrased "all political power comes from the barrel of a gun" .

To be fair, Mao may have been paraphrasing Al Capone.
"You can get more of what you want with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word."

And Al Capone could be said to be paraphrasing Teddy Roosevelt.
"Speak softly and carry a big stick."

I'm sure there are others, afterall there is nothing new under the sun (or in space apparently).  Using force and intimidation to get others to do what you want is hardly a new idea.

Besides, you can probably board a Reaper and fight your way to the master core to destroy it from the inside.

That's stupid.

Uh, no he didn't. Mao's rule of China was largely disastrous, he probably set the country back by decades. It was only after he died that China began to prosper economically under the reforms of Deng Xiaoping which reversed the failed Communist policies.

Someone who plays as a renegade does not mean they are evil by default. Certain times in the game, a renegade can be protective of their teammates or defensive of a moral decision. It is that they are more forceful in their delivery.
And paragons undergo their own accusations of being naive, self-righteous and illogical.
Because it's a binary system, people who play paragon or renegade are often pigeon-holed when their reasons are more complicated. I've learned that both sides want the same thing: A good future for humanity.
It's just the methods we're strangling each other over.

Why? It's logical to expect something like that. Didn't we do almost the same thing in SM? Sure that core was not complete, and it was a station rather than a ship, but the principle is the same.

Some of Shepard's crucial missions are about "get to the center of that thing and overload the core." That's what makes him capable of making a difference in the interstellar war while fighting on foot. He infiltrates, moving quickly, unnoticed. That's the whole thing that justifies the group of only three. That also gives him a mission objective to move forward, unless he's here to retrieve some specific subject / person.

Boarding a Reaper is also not improbable, as we have already done it. Sure it was dead. But we also boarded an alive ship - the Collector one. Maybe a Reaper will want to invite us into a trap again, and it will be the one to find itself in for a surprise. And, if we ever find Harbinger floating adrift, apparently badly damaged by the turian fleet, we will thank TIM for the lesson he taught us.

I can't see how we can avoid dealing with the essence cores, since the concept was introduced in ME2. Obviously it's the most vulnerable part of the Reapers who avoid using avatars.

Of course, it's possible that the cores are situated in the dark space, operating the ships using quantum entanglement. In this case, we should go to the dark space and slaughter them all. On foot. Just nuke-overload their entire homeworld.

Describing TIM as a "villain" and a "horrible man" isn't cool and doesn't bode well for his portrayal in ME3.

Indeed it doesn't, as the VA must have seen the lines, and drew his conclusions from the words he had to say.

I can't believe the script isn't ready yet. I thought that was one of the first things to be done.

You're right, this isn't good. I have to wonder how much lines TIM actually has, if they can afford to leave it to the very end. Two? One? "And now you die, Shepard."

I've been at work today, so alas, I only have one TIMShep shot for y'all.
Tomorrow's my day off, though, so I'll see if I can't slap up some more then.

Whether or not the Illusive Man is a great man, a ruthless dictator, a magnificent bastard, or malleable putty as the plot demands, one thing is certain:

He has an incredibly cheesy grin.
