We should respect TIM because he has visions?

Ceausescu had grandiose visions of leading Romania into a new age. Pol Pot had a vision of a collectivist agrarian utopia. Mao's vision of a socialist industrialization. The list is endless...should we respect them as well?

And Shepard had visions, too. He acted on them as soon as he realized what they were. Nobody respected him for them, in fact he got called mentally unstable pretty often.

And TIM had visions, too. He acted on them, too. That's why the galaxy is saved.

Just because someone has a vision, it doesn't mean it's wrong. It only means he has a clear goal. That goal might be the salvation of the galaxy, so don't be in a hurry to cast it away as wrong.

It occurs to me that many of the people who insult TIM's vision don't even know what it is. Read his manifesto at the end of Evolution. In fact, read the entire Evolution, and then judge TIM.

And before anyone else starts comparing TIM to the leaders of the past, please remember one thing:

NEVER, in the entire history of the Earth you know, has there been a single leader who was working for the preservation and advancement of the ENTIRE humanity.

TIM is without comparison. You're stuck in the pre-mass relays past. Open your mind to the ME universe.

Also, to people who think that striving for dominance is wrong, you're going against biology itself and choosing entropy. Survival and advancement cannot be separated. One is necessary for the other.

It's in everyone's blood. It's what the life intended. Become more powerful to become more desirable. Get outstanding achievements to get better mates. Get best mates, have best children, have your genetic line continue, get immortality, better your species.

Survive, advance enough to look at the stars and to wonder what's there. Feel that urge to go to the places unexplored and conquer them, too. Unite all the people of your own species, muster all your resources, reach for the stars.

Encounter resistence from those who got there first and don't want to share. Feel competitive, strive for advancement. Get more power, enhance your people, get faster ships, get stronger biotics, get bigger guns, find stronger allies, discover deeper secrets.

Defeat the Reapers.

Inherit the galaxy, since you were badass and dominant and survivalist enough to pass the ultimate test.

Also, if people didn't associate themselves with any particular group and didn't put their own people first, then loyalty would cease to exist.

And Al Capone could be said to be paraphrasing Teddy Roosevelt.

This reminds me what Grunt said to Shepard when he is convinced to join and sees that Shepard has been holding him at a gunpoint the entire time: "Offer one hand but arm the other." I always thought this to be something of a tagline for Paragon.

Mm... saw Mass Effect Evolution #4 for sale, decided to pick it up despite not being a great fan of the comics themselves. Have to say, the Cerberus manifesto was worth it.

"-- and while it is with a heavy heart that I report the loss of our comrades in arms, Ben Hislop and Eva Core -- they died as they lived, protecting humanity to the last. And what they helped discover not only confirms everything I believe -- it has proven to me, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that there is something out there to protect humanity against.

Desolas was right. The stars look warm and inviting to us -- places to be explored, knowledge to be had, riches to be made. But we will not always be welcome. Those who came before may not be willing to share. It is the way of things. It is inevitable.

A dark time is coming. Humanity will be tested and while we may not know who is doing the testing, or why -- we must meet the challenge as we have met all others. We will succeed. Because to do anything else would be inhuman.

We will watch the dark places -- and bring illumination. There is no magic -- only technology. Tools that we can master. Tools we must master. Not just to survive -- but for the betterment of mankind.

We can -- and will -- take our rightful place in the stars. This is my manifesto. I hope you will join my cause.

That wasn't my point. Of course there is also a long list of people whose visions resulted into something good.

But I don't respect someone just because he has some visions...and I certainly don't respect TIM and his ideas of human dominance.

We know almost nothing about TIM's ideas of human dominance. So unless you think that human dominance is undesirable in all of its possible forms, this makes no sense. If you think human dominance is undesirable in all of its possible forms, then that's a valid opinion but you have no grounds to call it evil or deny TIM respect for trying to advance humanity.

I can get behind this manifesto 100%. I don't think it justifies some of Cerberus' more excessive actions, but I would want to act in the spirit of this Manifesto in ME3.

I've been at work today, so alas, I only have one TIMShep shot for y'all.
Tomorrow's my day off, though, so I'll see if I can't slap up some more then.

Whether or not the Illusive Man is a great man, a ruthless dictator, a magnificent bastard, or malleable putty as the plot demands, one thing is certain:

He has an incredibly cheesy grin.

...Actually, come to think of it, he kind of looks like he's expecting someone to wallop him one. >.>

"Is this because of that whole 'indoctrination' thi-"

*WUNCH*

In shots like these TIM actually looks fairly young (40ish) when he should be 60ish(AFAIK).

And that grin might be when he's about to get the priize from femshep. <3

So...will she be sneaking onto TIM's space station, in spite of the heavy risk?

And TIM had visions, too. He acted on them, too. That's why the galaxy is saved.

And why it will be destroyed unless we can deal with him swiftly.

NEVER, in the entire history of the Earth you know, has there been a single leader who was working for the preservation and advancement of the ENTIRE humanity.

And there isn't now, but there have been plenty who simply said they were. TIM's thing doesn't apply to those who might be a liability to Cerberus; they'll simply be ground down and tossed aside.

It's in everyone's blood. It's what the life intended. Become more powerful to become more desirable. Get outstanding achievements to get better mates. Get best mates, have best children, have your genetic line continue, get immortality, better your species.

I assume you think I'm a race traitor for having an asari partner, then?

We know almost nothing about TIM's ideas of human dominance. So unless you think that human dominance is undesirable in all of its possible forms, this makes no sense. If you think human dominance is undesirable in all of its possible forms, then that's a valid opinion but you have no grounds to call it evil or deny TIM respect for trying to advance humanity.

It is, however, legitimate to deny TIM respect based on his methods.

I can get behind this manifesto 100%. I don't think it justifies some of Cerberus' more excessive actions, but I would want to act in the spirit of this Manifesto in ME3.

Then, given TIM's true colors, I suppose you'll have to not play the game.

You bet, after saving the galaxy she looks forward to stargazing, smoking marlboro and drinking Jim Beam with TIM before, during and after bumping nasties with him. :D

That space station of his does have a pretty ideal vista for romantic evenings..

It led him to the Reapers.

Of course you are, but not just for that.

He was useful for a time. It's over now.

As if I'd still need to.

How lucky that there's no such thing as a racial court, and that I'm no traitor to the Alliance.

This proves that TIM is genuine when he said his people are very valuable to him after Jacob's loyalty mission.

I like how he doesn't view echnology as bad mojo space magic too.

So you'd dispose of him like you assume he would with you, thus becoming the very thing you rebelled against in the first place?

A shame, yes. Luckily there still is Cerberus to act as judge, jury and executioner whenever necessary.

Given that I'm not siding with the Reapers... not really, no.

A shame, yes. Luckily there still is Cerberus to act as judge, jury and executioner whenever necessary.

Oh, don't worry. Cerberus will fall soon enough.

And neither is Cerberus, at least not for mere ****s and giggles.

But you might as well, seeing how eager you are to sell humanity out.

Oh, don't worry. Cerberus will fall soon enough.

Cerberus will rise when the time is right. It is you, my dear delusional blue knight, who will fall.

Most of the other races don't deserve to rise with the rest of us, at the very best they should only be allowed to survive, nothing more.

We shall see.

Indeed, we shall.

I think we know enough. Cerberus' experiments give us some ideas....

- chemical weapons against the asari
- enslavement of rachni and geth

And I think human dominance is undesirable.

Everyone equally deserves to rise.
