According to Saphra, no species' vision of the future contains other species. If that's the way the universe works, all I can do is find the single best species.

So why choose asari over humans when all evidence points towards humans being the superior organism? All asari have going for them is longevity.

If it fails, then there's always Plan B, which is to have the asari outbreed every other species into extinction but use melding to absorb their important cultural memories and suchlike, to preserve the essence of their existence, which if you're right, is the most harmonious possible outcome with the most preservation and least killing.

Plan B is awesome - and I do my part by romancing an asari. But the Asari usually take 300 years to start reproducing, so I can't see them trying to outbreed other races.

Plan B won't work when Thessia is abandoned due to how useless Asari are to the war effort.

How exactly is the second largest fleet in council space useless?

And I believe that is a perfectly safe presumption, Xili. We as humans can attest to this notion; we've done it for all time. Our history as a species is an appalling chronicle of overindulgence and self-appointed authority. It's who we are, and chances are it will never change.

It's also rather obvious that the vision of Renegade Shepard and TIM is just that. The Paragon counterpart tries to defy this nature and hopes for a fully united galaxy where the weak may live forever. The fact of the matter, however, is that this is unlikely to happen (or continue to be, in the case that it does happen).

So yes, Xili, I'm sorry, but if you really believe that the universe is all flowers and butterflies, then you might be pushing it a little.

They aren't united, have no structure other than "this is your leader who'll be leading a small group" and their military isn't large in number. Unless this somehow is supposed to impress me?

Their military is far larger than humanity's. The command structure is a problem, but only if they refuse to change it (we need a unified command to coordinate the war effort).

Then most of the quotes regarding the Asari military being small but powerful make no sense, it's also foolish to expect the most passive species to accept change.

What quotes?

The Council regards the Alliance as a "sleeping giant" because less than 3% of humans serve in our military...a lower proportion than any other species. Asari are the most populous species.

As a popular turian saying puts it, "The asari are the finest warriors in the galaxy. Fortunately, there are not many of them."

ah, ok

Well, it's a turian saying. They are a very militaristic species, every turian that is a citizen of the Hierarchy serves 15 years in the military. So maybe that has something to do with it. Not everything in the ME universe makes sense ^_^

For one thing, I don't really believe much of this "evidence." For another, they'd be best at carrying the memories and legacies of other species.

Umm... how so? If you want to preserve memories and legacies you've got technology that can do that. You know. Books. Computers. Videos. Reapers.

In a more active way. To let them live on as part of the asari.

No, XIlizhra. They aren't living on at all. They're dead. Someone else is just remembering their culture and history for them. I suppose you think the Protheans are still living on in us? Or in real life, any culture which was exterminated but not completely forgotten by history?

That's absurd.

You can make a case for the Reaper being the true evolution of the species because it contains their genetic material and actual memories and minds.

The asari have never done this. That's not what they do. They can experience your thoughts when they meld, but they don't get to keep them.

If you want to wipe everyone out and keep record then do that, but don't try and spin it into somehow having the asari absorb everyone. That's just ridiculous.

I'm going by Liara's dialogue about how "a part of them lives on in us." Quite frankly, I trust her more than I trust you.

That's metaphorically spoken. To see it as anything else is absurd.

As you wish. No matter, it's not really an end I want in any case. But I'll never stop fighting until I achieve harmony. Or die.

No matter. The Illusive Man will die first. I'll never tolerate any effort to bring about single-species dominance so long as I live.

I more or less share the same intention; I'm just not quite as optimistic as you are. =]

It is, but the cynic in me doesn't have it.

To be quite honest with you, Xili, the only reason I prefer Paragon over Renegade (I play both anyway) is because the Paragon version shows me what I may never see in the real world. I don't know about you, but to me, it truly is a humbling experience playing the role of someone who fights for galactic equality. I don't care if it actually ends up that way, but as long as I know I'm working on it and might just witness it one day, I'm rather satisfied.

But isn't that exactly what your Plan B is about Xili? It's only okay as long as it's the asari?
