I want to stargaze in ME3. At the same huge stunning stars TIM has. Want to travel to those systems and stargaze, meditation calms mind, helps with my scheming, lends resolution to fight the Reapers. I even asked the devs if we'd be allowed to stargaze in ME3, but for some reason they didn't answer. ;P

I suppose I'll have to settle for TIM's beautiful star I have on my desktop background.

Just don't stare directly into it, Lae. You can't fight the Reapers with crispy retinas.

Hmmmmm. Come to think of it, does anyone smell bacon frying-?

Heh, seriously though, I'd love to go stargazing. Hell, I'd love to go sightseeing without being shot at for once- there were some fairly stunning vistas in ME2 (and, in fact, in the original Mass Effect if one takes the game's age into account), except I could never stand around and admire them for very long.
Maybe because SOMEONE kept assuming direct control in my vicinity.

That's actually one of the things I miss most about open-world settings, when I'm playing Bioware games: the hours I could spend just roaming around, hip-deep in the scenery.*

Ah well. Can't have it all.

*-There's something terribly wrong with the grammatical structure of that sentence. Don't make eye contact with it. >.>

I wrote this for the "how would you do it?" thread. Basically, it is the end of the game in the event that the Suicide Mission is a total failure. The base isn't destroyed or purged, Shepard and his team are killed and Joker and the Normandy manage to escape.

--------

The Suicide Mission was a failure. Shepard is gone as is his team, but the Collectors remain. Only Joker and the Normandy have survived and they limp back across the relay with the terrible news.

"What do we do now, sir? The Collectors are still out there and Shepard may have hurt them, but they'll be back."

The Illusive Man dismisses him, his tone matching his grim expression, "We move forward."

The transmission is closed and the hologram of Joker disappears. The Illusive Man stands alone in a dark room. The bright and chaotic sun from before is gone, as are the stars. In their place is only blackness. The void is broken only by the glow of the Illusive Man's tainted eyes and the dim ember of his cigarette.

He turns toward his chair, for the first time appearing unsure of himself. Slowly he sits down, slightly hunched in his seat, a scowl twisted across his face.

The camera pulls back and the black void begins to consume our view. The last thing we see is the Illusive Man's cigarette falling the ground, the ember extinguished.

The credits begin, this time carried by the haunting theme heard on the deserted colony of Freedom's Progress.

I still miss the uncharted worlds for all that beautiful scenery and atmosphere. I love just parking the Mako on them sometimes and watching the sky/horizon while listening to the music and the wind.

Ahah, Ash, you think anything could hurt THESE eyes?

The abyss is shriveling and looking away when my Shepard looks into it! What's the light of the dying star to those eyes?

From ME1: I enjoyed Bring Down the Sky, where I'd stand and stare into the sky, at that planet getting closer, and at those rocks moving away. Also I enjoyed my mission on Luna, because I could see the Earth. :) Our homeworld is beautiful. I could stand there and stare at it forever. My Earth-born Shepard was so nostalgic.

I've written other things, sort of. Some of it Mass Effect related, some not.

Writing stories is hard, so I prefer to describe individual scenes or characters or settings.

Back in the day I wrote one-off "slice of life" pieces for some of my characters when I played FFXI.

Also, I love the Renegade scars. They look really badass in the right lignting. IIlium is a good place to show them off.

I wonder if those magnificent scars will ever be acknowledged by anyone in ME3; I doubt everyone would be too scared to mention Shep's appearance to him.

What view. Better than any vacation, really. I want Shepard's job.

Reminds me of LotSB, and how Shepard was cheered up greatly by driving that thing. Reckless driving must be putting Shepard into a really good mood.

EDIT: I should stop editing my posts.

Ahahaha, look into her eyes, they're redder than the light of the Renegade star. It's more, it's like the light of the star that emits dark energy. Liquid infernal flame. Evil incarnate if I ever saw one. TIM's look angelic and downright trustworthy in comparison.

Heee, wonder if you can romance Jacob with this femshep, and he'd tell you with a straight face about TIM, "is there anything human left in those eyes?" I imagine femshep blinking at Jacob innocuously, "and what about MY eyes, honey?"

You do realize that I'm going to have to do that now, right?
For science. And by science I mean lulz.
I shudder to think of what waking up next to her in the night would be like, considering the Renegade eyes glow in the dark, the same as TIM's do.

Designated LI: Hon, I'm going to get a glass of water, do you want anyth-

Shepard (*opens eyes*): WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW

Wheeeee, tangent time. >.>

:D Ash, you're reading my thoughts! Shepard's LI, if no one else, must be commenting on Shepard's eyes and her scars, and imagine them in bed together, and LI asking Shepard to close her eyes, because they're GLOWING and he can't get in the mood like that.

Actually TIM's eyes have that gentle glow, and Shepard's got that scary one.

That's another reason why I think that TIM and Shepard belong together. :D TIM's the only one who won't have to close his eyes to preserve his sanity when she's looking at him up close.

Now this discussion is making me wonder about all those LIs of Renegade Shepard. They never even say anything, probably out of tact, but if Jacob finds TIM's eyes inhuman, imagine what they're thinking of Shepard's eyes and face.

Nobody ever comments on TIM's eyes, except Jacob. But they must be wondering. I wonder what TIM himself thinks about it. And if he managed to harness that Reaper augmentation, he probably looks even more altered now. I hope next time we see TIM, he's not...too unrecognizable.

You know, Shepard's eyes are going to be robotic regardless, even if they're not glowing like that. I think everyone knows that already. I also think facial expression has a lot to do with it, as I'm also for science modding the game to have the maximum scar level even while full Paragon, as I'm curious to see how that goes.

In any case, TIM's eyes remind me of accretion disks.

Chakwas: Shepard...Please consider using medbay for curing your scars.

Renegade Shepard: No.

Chakwas: But why not? We have all the necessary equipment installed.

Renegade Shepard: I like the GLOW. And those scars are useful in negotiations. They help people to take me seriously. Saves time. I don't even need to mention my Spectre status, or pull out my gun. All I ever need to do is to take off my helmet.

Chakwas: But you're unnerving the crew.

Renegade Shepard: *dismissively* They're used to this. Besides, a little fear is good for boosting my authority.

Chakwas: And you're going to scare the civilians. This won't help your reputation, and it would be hard for them to see you as inspiration if you GLOW like that.

Renegade Shepard: I wear mask most of the time. Besides, they should find it reassuring that such a monster as me is on their side against the Reapers. You have to be more than an ordinary organic to win this war.

Chakwas: And you terrified the Alliance officials when they visited the ship two days ago.

Renegade Shepard: *with great satisfaction* Good. They should be very afraid.

Chakwas: But what about your LI, Shepard? Think about your loved one!

(Shepard's expression clears suddenly)

Renegade Shepard: *dreamily* My LI finds it hot. Spiced up my love life greatly.

Chakwas: ...

Renegade Shepard: I'm keeping those scars.

#one of the many perks of being a Renegade. / advertisement.

Hm. I wonder how much being a colonist affected my Shepard's outlook? Earth to her is like Sweden to me: most of my ancestors came from it, but I don't feel particularly connected to it.

For my colonist, her parents were from Earth and she visited Earth for holidays and school breaks. She was then living there after the raid at 16 with her grandparents, so she is very connected to Earth along with Mindoir. In fact, she might be more connected now with her parents' birthplace than her own now that her remaining family and friends are all on Earth. What she had on Mindoir is now just memories of a place that no longer exists.

After the raid what do you see happened to your Shepard? Did her/his parents not ever go back to Earth? Were they immigrants who never went back to their country? I could see that happening.

I wish I could remove Shepard's scars and keep the glowing red eyes so they could look like TIM's.

What sucks about the romances is the lack of any hint of physical attraction between the two. The only exception is Ashley who likes Sheploo's ass.

If you look at TIM and renShep's eyes you can see that they have several illuminated "pupils."

I think that those pupils are additional receptors of optical input allowing TIM and Shep to EM wavelengths outside the normal human range of vision. (Thane had something similar done to himself, if I recall)

Of course parShep has the same thing, they're just disguised with cosmetic surgery.
