It's mainly that it's a huge amount of work...
The way that a lot of our tools are set up, they aren't portable to something you could easily use at home. A lot of our integrated processes require databases to be hooked up, and a bunch of the tools are hardcoded to use specific internal servers. It's sadly not as simple as just taking what we have and handing it over. We'd probably have to make some rather extensive modifications...
Additionally (and I know some people will say: "Who cares!"), we put up with a fair amount of rough edges from our tools - but for an actual release of a set of modding tools to the community, we'd want to put some work in to make it a somewhat easier experience than it might be right now.
So, given all of that... it's not really something that's very likely. Sorry. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/uncertain.png[/smilie]

@neenee77 A high quality set of modding tools allows you to modify almost every aspect of the game, from adding new levels, characters, sound and music, to complete conversions that barely even resemble the original game.

It's kind of a shame that it would be so much trouble for them to do it. A Mass Effect SDK would be beyond awesome.

As it stands, there are no official mod tools for ME2, and theres even the chance that those of us in the PC and Xbox community that have used 3rd party mods such as Gibbed's save game editor will have their import file rendered invalid due for whatever reasons.

thanks, i will check out those links just for future refrence(have ps3). may possibly get all games on pc or get another xbox kinect (pawned my other one) so I can play the first one too. yes... i am that obsessed with mass effect

PS3 - No Modding
Xbox - Save Game Editting
PC - Save game editting, Weapon, armour and difficulty stat modding, texture modding, character model changes (play as Thane, Jack, Samara etc), high resolution textures, shadow and depth of field tweaks, and lots more. Only problem with PC is the initial outlay costs are higher than console, but you make this up in the cost of the games being at least $10-20 cheaper, as well as the occasional $5 sale days on Steam and the like.

PC will give you more options for modding compared to the console. For ME2, modding is something like this;

Thanks so much, already checking the links in your sig and wow.
Ok new pc it is lol. would rather have all options available. planned on buying a good gaming system (computer) in the next few months anyway.

If you love ME2 as much as many of your posts suggest, then you definitely owe it to yourself to play through ME1. The combat is slower and clunkier (though not difficult once you figure out the mechanics), but the story and presentation is amazing. Finishing ME1 felt more satisfying to me than ME2, even though I think ME2 is more fun gameplay-wise.
