Yep several months back actually I won't go sifting through the 1000 + pages BW has contained on the subject of s/s but yes actual comments froms/s pro  posters were BW owed it to them.

Ah, well played.  The old "I'm sure I heard it somewhere, but I'm not going to bother looking for it, so you're just gonna have to trust me" tactic, eh?  So now the onus of disproof is on me then, is it?  With all the...

You know what?  It's just easier to call you a liar and move on.

If a player doesn't want their Shepard to have a homosexual relationship, then they don't have to. What's so difficult about that concept?

Are people against the s/s relationships actually worried about the choices other players living in other cities/countries are making.

"ZOMG! There's some dude in Birmingham that's having his male Shep romance Garrus! The game is ruined!!!"

Haha.. no, sir, it is not that at all.

If I read a review of a game that had S/S romance in it, there is simply no way in hell I would buy that game. I do not and will not financially support that. I don't want to see in games and will not reward games that have content of that nature in them. I wouldn't donate money to a "gay rights" lobby, I won't buy a game that has "gay rights lobby" stamped all over it. Which IMO is what ME3 is gonna end up being. If this goes, I'll have no part in it. Why am I in this forum then? Because I loved ME2 and for a time was looking forward to ME3. But this whole "**** you we're putting in S/S into ME3" crowd has effectively replaced my enthusiasm with contempt. I 've effectively gone from a day 1 buyer to someone who doesn't want to touch it.

But what the hell, I'm just a homophobe!

You do know that Mass Effect 2 had femShepard kissing Liara even before LotSB came out and a full sex scene in the first game?

I still can't figure out why people are raging so hard about what they themselves have called "Minor totally unnecessary content."

It's because they want their game to be perfect according to their own style. Which is not only impossible, but also impractical, since it'd restrict other players from some content they want. Like in this case, S/S romance or whatever.

I don't see the logic, but, I suppose you're right.

So,  I still totally support transsexual Garrus.

I can't take anything someone with a Merril sig seriously.... That sounds stupid for some reason.

But I'm not saying things like, "I don't think they should include this thing X" when they've already included something similar via Merrill.

No your saying things like "I can't take your post seriously because you support a couple of characters"

Can anyone take my posts seriously with the rainbow army in my sig.=]

I would like to imagine that the current discussion should have nothing to do with something as silly as what someone has on their signature.  I have a quote of John Woo spelling Witcher wrong (typo obviously)  I guess he should hate me amirite?

I said I couldn't take part of the post seriously.

Look, I'll break it down for you.

If you play ME1 as a MaleShepard, you have two female romance options (Ashley and Liara).

However, this wasn't good enough for some people.  They wanted a choice between all teh wimminz on the ship (Tali Tali Tali!) so a bunch of people asked for the romance to be included in ME2 as they felt it would add something to their experience...fine.

By the logic of most, these players should have been satisfied with what they got, but they weren't.  They also could have simply resigned themselves to fan fic...but they didn't.

*the same applies to the Garrus romance of course*

People making requests for a certain someone to be an s/s romance option is similar.   Supporting the Talimance in ME2 is thus supporting these kind of changes and opening up more options for people...unless this kind of thing is only supported when it benefits you...then that seems hypocritical to me.

But you speak of the DA:O romances as if they were something 'better'.  Why don't you complain so much over lack of sensible race, morality, or class restrictions?

Because that's not the debate that we're having right now and in any case I would agree with that sentiment.

Regardless Morrigan being a strictly M/F option allowed her character to do certain things and play to certain conventions and tropes in a way that Leliana and Zevran do as well in regards to their bi-sexuality and it adds additional variety to those characters and their romances as well.

jlb524 wrote...

The sig comment was a joke, though I think it got the point across to most.

Also, it's difficult to address hyperboles like "everyone in DA2 was bisexual" or "ship everyone with everyone."

It was a very poor joke and one I don't necessarily believe was meant in jest. It was, I believe, a means of dismissing my argument without speaking to it however.

jlb524 wrote...
If they will include 'sexual orientation diversity" they shouldn't stop there.  They need to add in other checks based on the other things I've mentioned.

I agree and have said as much, what is the point you're making?

jlb524 wrote...
Also, I will let you know that BW will not include strictly homosexual characters...this is a 'fact'.  It hardly seems fair to eliminate one group (homosexuals) from a 'sexuality diverse' crew.

So you don't actually want diversity? You just want to replace one homogony with another.

jlb524 wrote...

I believe they also had similar meta-reasons for making all of the DA2 LIs available for both genders.   I don't see how one is 'okay' with most but the other isn't.

You're going to have to clarify this statement a bit, its too vague for me to respond to it with any specificity.

If his sig said Garrus and Tali romance in ME3 that would make sense but I just saw Garrus and Tali.  I support Garrus but don't care about romance either way.

The thing that please me to no end, though, is the insistence of so many gamers that RPG VGs NEED to be more realistic. Reading so many comments from Mass Effect and Dragon Age fans who were overjoyed that Bioware FINALLY stopped allowing players to dress up their party members and started limiting powers and skills to a specific style preferred by certain characters really increased their immersion.

That is realism, and in a RPG, that is quality. Giving fans a lot of choices over their party members is blatant fan service. Quality is a party member who wears only what the game designers allow him/her too, and Merrill never being able to learn a healing spell and Garrus never handling a shotgun.

Unfortunately Bioware had to destroy player immerision by actually giving them the ability to choose some party members' sexuality. The outrage! Even though Hawke was given the ability to flirt with anyone with a pulse, it ruins immersion when the only five characters who WILL sleep with Hawke are all bisexual, especially the guys.

And read all the releases ME3. It is ruined! Not only will players possibly be allowed to choose s/s romances, but now be able to customize weapons and armor WITHOUT having to buy a DLC! If they give players he option to effect the armor and weapons of party members, that is going TOO FAR. It has already been established that Ashley prefers white armor and Kaiden prefers blue. My immersion is important, damn it all!

More realism in RPG VGs now!
