I'm going to put this simply...

I <3 Liara. Liara will always be my main choice if not THE choice for romances.

But if Tali opened up fora fem!Shep it is not going to bother me in the least, and I'd say more power to those who play Fem!Shep that want a relationship with Tali

I didn't release there was some sort of quota now. From an audience standpoint the F/F option with Liara makes sense because guys find that hot too.

So,  this essentially comes down to only what a sub group of heterosexuals want in their games?  I'm so glad to know that the world revolves around the straight male.

Lesbians and bi girls do it together only to arouse the straight male who will then join them. It's a very tricky way to lure the man they're attracted to into bed!

Tricky...yes.  And icky, cuz you have to get naked and roll around with some other hot naked chick with beautiful breasts and...

*Ahem* but it's worth it in the end when the *real* object of your desire shows up.

I support this, I feel that Jennifer Hale is better suited than Mark Meer to express Commander Shepard's horror when Tali turns out to be an arachnid based gestalt.

Why yes, the romances, which are a minor feature of the game, should be designed with a majority of male and female players in mind. Not everybody is owed something suited to their personal tastes.

You don't get it at all lol. Tali is established to like opposite gender. That much we know. If she was 'turned gay', it would mean her attraction to opposite gender would've been contradicted, overwritten and retconned with an exclusive attraction to the same gender.

Only this way there would be any implication being gay is a 'choice' as she was turned from straight/bi into gay = exclusively attracted to females. However, she was not at any point established to dislike the same gender. Lack of option to pursue a romance is not an evidence of her attractions (and if you think it is, then she shouldn't be possible to romance by Shep of EITHER gender since there wasn't an option to romance her in ME1).

If Tali is available for s/s romance in ME3 (means she's bisexual means bisexual people like BOTH men and women), it does not contradict anything established previously and there's no change in her sexual orientation because you can't change something that wasn't established in the first place.

Had she declared her dislike of the same-gender, then there would be a change. Since she didn't say anything about it, it's a blank slate and she could've been bisexual all along. That's just how it is. Personal assumptions about a character's sexuality are not part of canon. Some assumed Tali was asexual in ME1, it didn't matter. It was just an interpretation.

More paragraphs please next time :)

And skip the explaining about what a bisexual vs. a gay is, I know if you didn't notice the irony. But I see your point about missing romance pursue attempts, I hadn't thought of that I must admit.

I just look into recent games, notably DA2 who turned a person clearly not attracted to men into a bisexual, namely Anders, and made everyone who was romancable bisexual. Which I personally still think is wrong (not bisexuality, but that everyone was).

But I see my fears apparently have been laid to rest as Casey H apparently said people wouldn't be retconned into liking their gender, I could have seen f.example Jack being turned bisexual from the DA2 treatment, which WOULD have been a major flaw. Now I have some faith that she won't, she stated she wasn't attracted to girls in ME2.

And my argument was not against Tali in particular, but the fear of the DA2 treatment in general.

I'm all for trying, but if everyone says "yes"... well... nerd rage from my part :)

Actually, in DA2 Anders, if you take the right conversation path, say he and his friend (the one turned tranquil and you had to kill in the Chantry) that they were lovers. So he was clearly bi from the get go

When we first meet Anders in awakening though one of his lines in amatherine is "All I want is a pretty girl, a decent meal, and the right to shoot lightning at fools." which doesn't make sense with how he's portrayed in DA2

I really don't care if there are a few bisexual crewmates: Be it a new character or an exsisting one. I'd just like to see Bioware to make smart executive decisions -- fans don't always know what is best...and I guess that woud include me x_x

It's already been confirmed that not everyone is going to be bi, take a deep breath.

What does his age and political party have to do with being practical in thinking that a video game shouldn't have to cator to every single person's whim?

The problem with that attitude is that the precedent of inclusiveness has already been set.

Are gays somehow less deserving than people who wanted to romance gangly bird-monsters?

I think not.

But that didnt stop her going for male Shep in ME2 on a suicide mission and being human.

Exactly my point. She never continues after that with female Shepard. As far as I can see, and I've said it before in almost every one of these threads that pop up out of no where, pre-existing characters should be left alone. I'm not sure about Kaidan or Ashley since there really isn't enough character development/background to those characters, but I honestly can't see it happening either. But for recurring characters, like both Tali and Garrus, they both had two years to stew on their feelings for Shepard, then the entirety of ME2. I don't see why either of those characters couldn't have done a romance with Shepard during ME2. But the S/S option wasn't and option. For whatever reason, they didn't include it.

Her having the same lines up until the branching point could simply be chalked up to resources or time. Having to write one set of lines, with one or two alterations, is easier and less time consuming than rewriting the entire script for any given character.

Though, I'm also not entirely sure what you're trying to say with your reply.

My main point is "Why do these threads keep popping up, there's a dedicated one already."

But, also, see above if you feel like it.
