The cards are awesome! I will totally get some.

However, Thane should've been the jack of spades since spades represent death and his name is based on the Greek word for death.

EDIT: Actually, who would be the most suitable for any given card?

Spades = death / loss / bad luck
Hearts = love / happiness / healing
Clubs = industriousness / growth / good luck
Diamonds = wealth / power / success

Shepard is already present as the king of death, I see.  Not an inappropriate choice!   Miranda seems to be queen of spades, which I'm not too sure about; I think Morinth-as-Samara (or, you know, just Samara) would be the best candidate.  Thane (or possibly Grunt) for Jack of spades!

Mordin as king of clubs, due to his hard-working, industrious approach to science.  Miranda as queen, due to her not-entirely-dissimilar scientific bent.  I'd like to make Liara jack of clubs if we could have a female character as a jack (or knave, or what-have-you), since she would completely the scientific theme!  Otherwise, Grunt might complete it as a fruit of science.  Otherwise, Zaeed could be the jack of clubs; all his near-misses and survival over the years have to be an example of good luck.
Kaidan for king of hearts, obviously.  :innocent:  Ashley or Tali for queen.  *thinks*  Jack for, um, jack?  grins*  Otherwise, maybe Garrus?  Or, you know, The Priiiiize Jacob.

Kasumi surely belongs as the queen of diamonds.  I'm not sure about the other cards.  Illusive Man for king?  He certainly has enough money.  Wrex might fit into this suit somewhere as well, since he is one of the greatest rulers of the krogan people, which certainly represents the power aspect of this suit.

With any luck, the Joker is actually Joker.  :D

That just leaves out Legion.  If we themed the suits according to vocation / training, he could make up a tech group with some other tech-trained characters, but otherwise I have no clue.  (Incidentally, a grouping like this would have to put Shepard, Ashley and Grunt - or Zaeed - as the king, queen, and jack of spades, since the death theme can also be interpreted as war: highly appropriate for the soldiers of the saga.)

I'll definetly snag a deck of those cards, maybe even two.

Also, I'd laugh if one of the joker cards was actualy Conrad in N7 armor.

Still nothing on those Dragon Age II cards, was looking forward to updating this topic today.

Also, Estelindis, I can't believe I didn't figure out the Thanatos > Thane connection before. Especially when it's actually so obvious.

A search and I found this site:
http://www.serenapow...yingcards2.html

And in particular for Shepard they have this meaning for King of Spades:
"An ambitious and authoritative man. A very dark-haired man."

And for Miranda (Queen of Spades)
"A widow. An unscrupulous woman. A very dark-haired woman."

For Kasumi (Queen of Clubs):
"An attractive, self-confident woman. A dark-haired woman."

And lastly for Thane (Jack of Hearts)
"A close friend or a good-natured, fair-haired youth."

A little creepy how some of these are right on the money in the way they explain each character...
Curious to see what the other characters are...

Still perpetuating that lie, are they?

Is it? In any case, I actually left that part in the initial version of the opening post, because it sounded stupid to include that as a feature, especially for a tie-in comic. Still, it looked naked without that part, so I put it back in. :')

But you also wrote that the ship model is an exact replica of the one in Mass Effect 3. Do we know that yet?

I didn't write that, I merely copied it. I also came back on it in my second post, as it might hold some future relevance:

As for the Normandy replica, note how they say it's an exact replica of the ship from ME3. Might be a typo, or perhaps the ship only looks like that at the beginning of Mass 3, but here's to hoping we can keep flying under Cerberus' flag.

he has that from the page eekutz. They (dark horse comics) either know it or just hit the wrong number.

Is it just me or does the SR2 model still look like crap? Its still got those ugly vertical lines all over it, and certain parts look....lumpy, as if its made out of clay or something, where its supposed to be smooth.

I'm glad to have done you a service, then, however small.  :)

Some of these, certainly.  Not Thane's at all!  I admit that Miranda might make spades on the grounds of her coldness, but on the whole I think there are better candidates for queen of spades.  Of course, if we restrict the roles by gender, we'll have much more competition for female characters because there are only half as many picture cards for them.  ;-)  This could be solved by using (smaller) pictures on the aces as well, of course.  That way, Shepard plus every squadmate from both games (bar one) could be covered.

Yeah not every description matches the character, although each site/individual has their own variations of what each suit means.

Interesting turn of events here, us talking about meaning of card suits and relating them to each characters personalities :D

Yes - and, amusingly, not at all off-topic.

If there were to be an organisation of the characters by training discipline rather than by personality, what would we choose?  Mass Effect generally divides such things into three rather than four different types.

Interestingly, trying to take this approach does rather make it jump out at one that all the pure biotic characters in Shepard's squad are female (so, for instance, if we wanted a biotic suit, it would be all female characters: samara as "king," Liara as queen, and Jack as, well, jack).

Well, most of have have seen the preview now, and it doesn't really look like TIM is betraying Aria... more like Cerberus being Cerberus and things ending in failure, again. It's really starting to look like one of the requirements to getting into the organisation is 'accidentally' having killed your entire class during chemistry in high school.

It's a bit silly really how the writers make so many of Cerberus's operations fail. Plot devices probably.
