1. A lot of people like her (including myself)

2. Many people romanced her (I did it on 2 playthroughs)

3. She is a very important figure in Cerberus and a central character in ME2, especially considering her 'resignation' if going the Paragon path with Terminator.

4. A conflict between her and Ashely/Kaidan would make for a fascinating interaction.

I seriously think that it would be tragic is Miranda were not a permanent squadmate. If we indeed are going to have more depth but fewer squadmates, then she should be one of them, for all of the reasons above plus her being a central link between ME2 and ME3.

To be fair, Liara was not a squadmate in ME2 and all the same reasons you listed apply to her as well.

I highly doubt Wrex will be a squadmate in ME3.

I personally hope all LIs will return. Cameo'ed LI 'cough'... is a bad, bad thing for fans!
And I already saving popcorn for your 4th reason, considering it's my two favs and likely will be constantly in squad

Everyone has their own favorite characters and I am sure everyone could come up with a number of reasons for why their favorite characters should be a permanent squad member in ME3....unless we have a squad of 15 (which, no thanks), no squaddie should be permanent....Would be fantastic if we could choose our own permanent squaddies in our own games from the pool, but that probably won't happen.

One could make similar points for practically any squadmate they liked. Since Shepard isn't with Cerberus anymore, I don't see how your 3rd point is relevant.

For Shepard to survive the suicide mission, only 2 squadmembers need to live with Shepard. So I wonder who other characters would be if you let everyone die aside from say, Zaeed and Kasumi. I think that Squadmembers from previous games would be a choice thing. BioWare said that the squad is going to be smaller than in ME2. But I'm fairly sure they confirmed a few characters which you could kill off. So, I'm thinking you get to choose your team for ME3. That'd be pretty neat.

I'm pretty sure Miranda will come back as a "permanent" squadmember, or at least have a good chunk of the plot involving her
