The most frustrating thing is, this is a REALLY GOOD game. I REALLY want to play it. If a game is bad, I can always put it away with minimal fuss.

I'm just not capable enough to play this game.

FIFA11 on World class or higher. Seriously, the game cheats to beat you. Suddenly every tackle you make is a yellow card and if you come within 2 feet of an opposing player they rip you to the ground with impunity.

When a sports game decides that you're going to lose: you lose! Hell yeah, they cheat. I've totally dominated in Pro Evolution during an important game.... only to hit the post, cross bar, miss empty nets, etc... while they'll win due to a horrendous goaltending error by my keeper!?!

Lol man does WoW pvp suck. Unfortunately I played as a Hunter so get in too close I can't melee or use my ranged weapon. Paladin and mages faceroll everything.

I agree with what you said on Witcher. It's simple and your left feeling too strong which is one thing I hope gets patched.

Funny you should say that cos' my last 2 weeks of WoW were spent on a Hunter. I had the idea of doing Arena but the more DKs and Pallys I faced on BG 1vs1....blergh. Also had a mage, warrior and feral. Mage & Warrior = Smash random buttons and win. Feral = Retarded buffs -> retarded nerfs -> retarded buffs etc. etc.

When I think of the Blizzard team responsible of balancing the game I think of:

I'm going to get bashed for this but here goes: Fallout 3. The world is empty, boring and bland colored. But of all things the damn PIPBOY. Never has any interface/inventory/whatever system annoyed me more than that. I tried playing it 3 times and just couldn't keep going after the first 5 or so hours.

F-Zero GX. Story Mode. On Very Hard.

The language that came out of my mouth trying to finish that was...colourful, to say the least.

I'm not a huge fan of action RPGs, but every now and then I don't mind firing one up for some mindless hack and slash. With that in mind, I guess my entry here would have to be Torchlight. I bought it (thankfully) on sale for a few bucks due to the high praise it had received on various forums I frequent. I pretty much knew exactly what to expect, but man this game was a disappointment to me. I figure even the few bucks I spent was too much. The game is well polished and seemed pretty much bug-free to me, but I couldn't force myself through it. I gave up after a few hours and never went back.

So, not a rage-quit due to frustrating game-play, but definitely a "Man, what a waste of money" game for me.

But why? You didn't say why...I'd like to know. It's a great dungeon crawler just really too easy even on Very Hard. I'm so getting the second one since it will have 4 player online co-op.

Its post apocolyptic its not supposed to be green and full of life.  This is exactly why I loved it.  And I agree the pipboy is kind of annoying but at least it has a in story excuse for being there.

Well ringo, my personal guess would be it lacks the same allure, atmosphere, and general addictability of the gave it's essentially derived from - Yes, the D word. It definitely has the polish and it's certainly a nice DLC game, but I've tried the demo before myself, and never really wanted to go back.

With pipboy... it's hard to simplify how much they're putting in there, but it could've been made more accessible. From what I've read thus far from Skyrim previews, that's what Todd Howard and the team is set out to do - simplify the annoyances of menus and whatnot. At least that's what I gathered from the article months back.

Haven't really had many of those lately, I have GameFly, so any frustration is replaced by satisfaction when I pack it up and return it the same day.

Though, I did get annoyed by the new Duke Nukem. I was already a little bored with the game when I failed a few times on one of the first rail shooter parts and decided it wasn't really worth it to continue.

Touhou: Shoot the Bullet. The entire game was made for the elite of the elite in the Touhou community.

I simply got frustrated in DNF by the utter lack of shooting. Far, far too many entire levels where you just drive a car around, or are shrunk and have to jump around on hamburger buns, or push a ball around an alien hive with virtually no aliens in it, etc.

That and that the plot simply doesn't flow. The plot justifications for the levels are some of the weakest I've ever seen in an FPS...

Damn, lobi - with a list like that, I'm surprised you haven't given up gaming entirely...

I tried demon's souls for a few hours as a rental, it was more boring than irritating. The lacking graphics and "story" weren't helping either.

Sometimes I have been really tempted but it rains a lot here in winter. I have removed a few as they are not the most rage worthy. Also Hawx was next gen graphics at their most boring. Bioshock multiplayer was the bestest thing ever when it was working, I got teary when I decided to uninstall it.

Edit- Soldier of Fortune, Payback. Truth in advertising, on the back it say's Payback is Hell.

Aion - Grind grind grind. Almost left solely because of how painful the leveling experience was but decided to check forums to see whether it got any better at endgame. Nope, just more grinding to look forward to.

For me it was World of Warcraft. The original game was a lot of fun, with incredible lore and fun, raiding with 40 people, having a blast. It was exhilirating and addicting.

Burning Crusades brought Illidan Stormrage, and the game devolved into a japanese RPG that had you spending more time farming for potions and gathering materials than you did raiding. It was at that point I realised that they had fired the good developers and brought in a new dude who didn't play the game - Ghostcrawler. He promissed to fix the game and end the favoritism of Horde over Alliance and balance the classes. Well, he lied.

With Wrath of the Lich king, we found that things devolved further. Ghostcrawler directly attacked healers, racials bonuses for the Horde outweighed the Alliance, and the game shifted from a raiding co-op into a pvp nightmare of Developers only loving the Horde and balance druids, and only a few other classes. Nothing was balanced at all.

At the end of Wrath of the Lich King, Devs kicked in new nerfs and healer hatred, Blantant unbalance issues and Horde favoritism caused many of us to leave in droves. Healing at this stage was a complete waste of time. Mana regen only worked for DPS classes, with healers being burned at every turn until we just left.

Its good to be rid of that game.

Sorry, I just found it a total yawn-fest. I'm not generally one to give up without really giving something a chance, which is why I put a few hours into it (probably 6 or 7), but it just didn't get any better to me.

Can anyone tell me why I should give The Witcher  another go? When does the game/story get interesting, and at which chapter ?

I feel left out.

If you didn't like it by the time you're in Vizima, it's probably not the game for you.  I was bored of the story in the first outskirts part, I thought it was wandering too much, and wasn't fond of the combat.  But I did end up really liking the game.  The world is beautiful and there is a lot of variety in quests.  Combat can get repetitive but is less so if you use potions and signs, and the boss battles each have a trick to them which adds some variety.  I used an online guide to help with parts where I was stuck.

TW2 is another story- I hated the gameplay so much I've thrown it aside.

Both of them probably suffer from overhype as "the greatest RPG ever!!!" when in reality they are just good games with some problems.

Final Fantasy XIII: The only reason to run a game so completely on rails with no decision making on behalf of the player is to be able to tell a really good story in the process. FFXIII bucks this notion by requiring the codex to explain the main plotline. Since the game couldn't be bothered.

Which was later topped by:

Final Fantasy XIV: Deciding to top a Linear game with no story, Square moved on to an MMORPG with no real content. Innovative! They added to the fun by including a non-intuitive consolized interface, despite the fact it was only released on the PC at launch. It was a mess on almost every concievable level.

I'm sure there were older titles that frustrated me to similar levels, but I've blocked most of them out of my memory.

I loved Demon's Souls! I thought the art style was beautiful, and the fact that you actually have to have skill to play it makes it a nice achievement in itself. It was a truly unique game for its time.

That said, it can also be a very, very frustrating game. If you happened to die, starting over to retrieve the souls you'd collected, only to have your arse handed to you again really sucked. Clearly I'm not coordinated enough to excel at it. :D
