You do realize you're talking about the man in charge of the organization that intentionally killed a group of soldiers just to see the effects of Thresher Maw spit?

*cough* anyway

Shepard rushed into the room, looking around. he was halfway expecting TIM to be gone, or have an army with him.
But there he was, a drink in his hand.
"How are you doing, Shepard?" TIM took a sip.
"Like you don't know, Illusive Man. Your prize assassin just tried to kill me."
"Well, that's--mind if I light up?" TIM pulled out a cigarette and lit in on the one still glowing in the ashtray. "Shepard, you're making a mistake. I'm not your enemy."
Shepard brandished his gun. "The h*ll you're not. You sent my entire team to die on Akuze. You messed around with the Rachni, and the Thorian. You're not helping the galaxy; you're just making us Reaper fodder."
"Shepard, *puff*" listen to reason! Your suit takes minimal damage from a Thresher maw, where one shot just killed you. That was my doing! And the Rachni could have been our ace in the hole. How was I to know they'd been indoctrinated?"
Shepard shook his head. "The ends don't justify the means this time, TIM. You're going down."
"*puff* Well, Shepard, I'm sorry this had to happen." TIM lifted his drink to his lips.
"Me too, Illusive Man." Shepard raised his pistol--
Sheer reflex saved him. He whirled around to see three Cerberus heavies rushing in. Firing off a shot, he got one of them. As the other two fired, he rolled and came up shooting. A moment later the attackers were dead. Shepard turned, knowing instinctively...
TIM was gone. Shepard moved forward, discovering a hidden door. He rushed inside the doorway, gun up and ready, to discover a hallway. He raced down it.
He turned a corner, to see TIM running at a speed that shocked Shepard. there was no contest, though. As Shepard approached, TIM glanced behind. When he saw Shepard, he made a quick motion.
Again, Shepard's reflexes saved him. Even before he realized it, he was dodging as a turrent spat bullets at him. A quick shot took care of that, then Shepard dropped all hope of catching TIM alive and shot him in the leg.
TIM fell to the ground. Shepard slowed down as he approached.
"I've been waiting a long time to do this, Illusive Man."
"Shepard, I've been through more than you've ever dreamed. My partner and I nearly died on contact with a Reaper artifact. He was indoctrinated. I wasn't." His blue eyes flared brightly. "I'm the best person in the galaxy to stop the Reapers. You have no right to kill me!"

Paragon Shepard shook his head. "What you've done can't be overlooked, Illusive Man." A shot rang out, and Shepard walked away.

Renegade Shepard thought for a moment. Then, he lifted his gun and shot TIM.
TIM glared at him. "Don't shoot me in the leg again. Kill me if you're going to kill me."
Shepard shook his head. "I'm not going to kill you. But now, you play by my rules. Understood?"

Edit: Sorry, having trouble getting red for Renegade.

I'd like to see Shepard and Co. walk into TIM's office, and he's sitting in his chair, drinking his booze and smoking cigs like nothing is wrong. But the instant he opens his mouth to give Shep his "The Reason You Suck" speech, Shep gets a Paragon interrupt and he just shoots him in the throat and walks out while TIM's choking on his own blood (Renegade interrupt has Shep put a round in his groin instead). Cue a witty phrase by one of Shep's squadmates as they leave.

Yes please.
This also seems more believable. I can't picture him in combat. He doesn't fight he sends others to do his dirty work. If he does fight it will be through a mech or something but even that is hard to picture.

Not to sound pretentious, but I don't write fanfiction, I write "real" fiction^_^. I've written one book and I'm about halfway through a second one. Unfortunately, college really puts a crimp on writing.
And I actually had an idea of doing a story of Jacob's father, because he struck me as someone who really did get carried away by his situation. It would have a...neutral, if not sympathetic viewpoint. But again, college. Book writing takes a lot of time.

Thanks. It's nice to hear someone say it.

But I think there's a lot of potential with TIM, because he's a fairly multidimensional character. I'm a huge fan of bad guys actually having a reason for their actions, because they usually do in life. I want our choice, whatever it is, about TIM, to be thought-provoking.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to kill the people who actually did kill the group of soldiers just to see the effects of Thresher Maw spit rather then the guy who as far as you and I know had no direct involvement?

Seriously the level of hate is both ridiculous and unjustified.

I'm not a hater of TIM, I hope my previous post showed that. But...

Isn't it better to kill the one who's the instigator? Because the top bad guy never gets his hands dirty. He gets other to do it for him...and when those others are killed, he replaces them. You wanna pull out the weed at the root, not just the part above-ground.

On the other hand, if he wasn't the behind-the-scenes instigator of this, then of course he shouldn't be blamed for it.

... And after TIM is dead Shepard and Miranda will proceed to have sex on his desk with that color changing star in the background.

This is the key, I think. TIM is the king of the hill. The people want to throw him off and mark the spot. Shepard's the only one who's allowed to be badass, give orders, jerk people around, have sex, and make huge sacrifices ala Bahak. Never mind that TIM's body count doesn't come even remotedly close to Shepard's. Shepard's the boss, and if someone tries to be the greater boss, Shepard's gonna kill them. But before, he will torture them. With relish. It's a wonder he didn't murder Hackett during all his years in the Alliance.

I suppose Harbinger, not being human, doesn't feel like much of a rival. Also, for some reason, it's not personal between Shepard and Harbinger - not as much as between Shepard-sole-survivor and TIM. Maybe if the connection between Harbinger and the destroyed Normandy was made clearer, it would be different.

 How about the Turian Councillor?

Whose greatest crime is not trusting you?

Yeah the council gets a lot of hate for Shepard's allegations that never actually become very clear.

Does anybody remember the final boss battle from Streets of Rage? That's how I imagine fighting TIM would be.

Edit: also EternalAmbiguity- I could totally picture your version! :o

Joker make a comment about Cerberus in ME2, if you wait and listen to him without engaging in a conversation, about how it's funny that ONE man runs the organization because in mythology Cerberus was a 3 headed dog. I'd like to find out more about that and it seemed to be a bit of foreshadow imo.

It's hard to know what will happen, but TIM has crazy eyes, I wouldn't be surprised if he is an enhanced fighter with some sort of ability/ abilities.

If Shepherd does try to kill him, it won't be easy I predict.

ME 3 having anything to do with TIM would be a failure of the story.

TIM should go back to being a master chess player behind the scenes now.

I think TIM just needs a hug. That's all most of us need really, a hug. Not a creepy, grabby hug, but a friendly, 'bro' hug.

After hugging TIM my Shepard's off to hug Harby. 'Cause she's a paragon and that's what they do ;-)

Actually, what I would love to do is put Liara in charge of Cerberus.  The irony would be delightful...
