6 for example, and players could mark and unmark any of the 6; as long as 1 was marked.
That way no-one would have to play 'snap' (match the icons) if they didn't want to.
Because we have little choice in the matter, it would be nice to avoid the games we dislike for those we like.

well I think puzzles if done correctly can work their way into a shooter game... Like when han was trying to hotwire the bunker in return of the jedi... however such games should allow your squad to -cover- you while you are doing it.. be nice if there was some way to not make it take you to a -screen- so if neccessary you can shoot, hell be nice if it was just something you -zoomed- in on without taking you out of the battlefield
Yeah, if they are incorporated into a mission then that's a great feature to have, ME1 had that on Eden Prime and then Legion's LM was sorta like that, so I'm all for more variety like that.
I was thinking about those mini-games that the player does through normal play, and I guess I prefer mini-games that depend more on my skill and not as much on random actions.
I'll give some examples to what I mean. So Fallout 3&NV and Oblivion have the locks that you pick and beating those relies on your skills. Dead Space 2 has their mini-game that you need to rotate a dial to bypass systems. And Bioshock has the tubes.
Then you have Bioshock 2's slide-y thing and Fallout 3&NV's Computer hacking game, that I didn't like working through because I don't like those random aspects of matching the colored lines or different word lengths.
With ME2, I was fine with matching symbols, and matching codes of texts but those did get tedious for me.
And I don't have ME1 on PC so I haven't tried those mini-games, but they seem interesting, better than what we got on the 360 at any rate.

If there is a way of earning additional credits - most of the mini games will be redundant anyway.
Also - if you have Legion or Tali - why do you need to play the mini game? Have the ability to order them to do it.

Some of us may like all the puzzles in ME1 and ME2, some may not.
What puzzles/ hacking tasks/ interfaces would you like to see in ME3? [Include pictures as reference]
I enjoyed the ME1 decrypting interface

I strongly disliked the ME2 'snap' hacking interface.

None, they are a waste of time. If I have to get through a door no matter what to continue the level, what is the point in wasting 10 seconds bypassing it? If the only means I have to make enough money to afford anything is to scrounge every credit I can from every level why make me waste 10 seconds getting it? I'm not going to tolerate failure. If I do fail (only occurs if hacking game fails to provide the necessary code which is once in a blue moon) I'm just going to reload and redo it. In the vanilla game I literally can't afford to not get every penny.
Bypass = super easy. Takes 10 seconds max.
Hacking = easy, but you have no power over how long it takes and in some cases you literally can't do it because the necessary code doesn't present itself. I don't like anything where my skill has no bearing.
ME1 didn't matter as you could get money from other sources and felt more optional.

Like..Shoot the lock and there is a chance of damaging the goods inside. You can -hack- if you want all items to be salvageable.
Say for example ... there is a mod inside... well it's only half a mod if you shoot the lock , so you'll have to go to another locker on another world to get another half... or you can hack it carefully and salvage a full mod.
Do agree with the above poster though...
that if the door -has- to be opened regardless... the lock is pointless as it will open eventually anyhow. Now if each bypass failure brought on a new wave of enemies...... that would be fine.

Simplest solution is - bring back omni-gel, for those that like minigames, they still can spend hours of their lives solving them and for those that just simply hate such mini games - give stupid omni-gel solution. Please, just please, don't spoil ME3 for players like I am - I'm interested in the story, I want to see finale and please don't make solve those puzzles... have them already enough in real life anyway. I can cope with boring assigments maps in ME1 (yes, that was the wrong thing, not Mako, just maps that were hideous) but stupid mini games? No! I'm all supportive on giving them to those that desperately want 'em, but for the rest of us, simple mortals, please, give some option to skip those hideous things... Just not anymore of Noveria Memory Core or putting points into stupid Electronics while I need em somewhere else... for those that want that kind of what they think is 'brain-storming', well, give them a pleasure, but also, I want the option in my ME3 that will spare me from that type of masochism. Games should be fun time, not friggin' - I want to torture myself thing.

IMO the best thing for ME3 would b a combination of puzzles, with the simple ones made from 1 simple math equiation, with more difficult ones combining multiple, complex puzzles and equiation that only quick thinkers should be able to sove.If you cant, well, no prize....

Actually, all minigames become tiresome at some point. I'd prefer none at all.
This, I never saw the point to it really, especially in ME1 when even if you failed the mini-game nothing happened like surveying and recovering artifacts. They should have had that mini-game for the bomb defusing and a few other things, but it was unnecessary for every single container you come into contact with.
I don't mind the occasional one-off type puzzles, but would not be disappointed if they were left out.
I totally agree. Why can't i just loot that random container, instead of bypassing it etc? This is really unrealistic when u have containers in me2 that contain upgrade resources with no security whatsoever? However, i would like to see an ability to use resources to ovveride instead of bypassing or hacking a module (a la me1). After 3/4 playthroughs, it just gets old.

or at least do it like games like deus ex did puzzles by letting you bypass that stuff at a cost
