Sir Grayson missing (EDIT: Blacklake inaccessible)

Chapter II has started, and I need to be made a squire.

The problem is, I can't find Sir Grayson. He's not at the Watch headquarters like he should be.

Any advice or instructions for spawning him?

Looks like two conditions need to be met (1) PC is member of City Watch, (2) Player has appropriate Journal Quest entry ("Grayson awaits you at the City Watch headquarters in the Merchant Quarter.").

rs ga_journal("20_squiring", 10, 1, 0, 0)
rs ga_global_int("gbWatch", "1")

rs means RunScript? Tried it, didn't work. The journal entry is there, and the Watch global variable is correct in my save file.

rs ga_scripthidden("grayson", 0)


try running this inside Brelaina's office, with your PC selected ... yep, 'rs' is 'RunScript'

I think that did it.

At first I got a new type of crash after moving from Solace Glade to the court, but I tried again, making sure to turn Debug Mode back off, and it worked fine.

ok, hopefully Grayson should pop in and out as (might be) needed

- you prob'ly figured this, but if you want him to pop out again just replace the "0" with "1"

It turns out I have bigger problems than I thought. After meeting Lord Nasher, and leaving Blacklake, my world map has changed as I expect it's supposed to. The problem is that after my first transit, the world map goes back to the original version, with all the Act I sidequest areas up and no Port Llast or whatever that town was. I can also no longer get back into Blacklake, with the guard acting as if the area was still in lockdown. I can visit Aldanon with the guard, that's it.

I rolled back to a previous save before I spawned Sir Grayson, and guessing that I was supposed to do the Blacklake quests before becoming a squire, tried to do them. Unfortunately, Blacklake is still closed to me when it supposed to be open. Also, Captain Brelaina will not give me the undercover quest, acting as if I was still on the previous mission.

My best guess is that the githyanki/Shandra mission didn't end properly or the new Act didn't load right. I don't have a save file that far back, and uninstalling and reinstalling the game didn't work (I have the Steam version). Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, Leldon's wife did approach me after I left the Flagon the first time.

can you check your 'globals.xml' in the save(s) you have for an integer variable called,

00_nAct


my first thought is it hasn't set/reset to "2"

been looking for where that VarInt is set ..

suggest setting it manually in the Globals file (make backup if ya need to), then trot around entering various areas & buildings (esp. the Flagon) since this might trigger additional settings required ..

found it, where the Global_Int is supposed to switch to "2"

I've been looking at this for awhile and lemme make some comments. This (described below in link) is the only place i can find where 00_nAct is set to "2" (viz, the beginning of ActII, surprise!). I came across scripts that *might* be capable of setting the Global back to "1" ... (didn't look that closely, but they're tucked here-there). Many subsequent events require that Global set properly, to "2" - further settings & events would have required it set that way. So,

Have a look at Danger's Let's Play. Do you remember getting the cutscenes (1)with Nasher & Torio in Castle Never, (2)with Nevalle, Sand, & the rest in the Sunken Flagon?


prognosis: I could probally let you know how to re-run the intro scenes for Act II, or

tl;dr It can be fixed as issues crop up. ( starting with the WorldMap ? some but not all things should become functional simply by changing 00_nAct )

Both of those scenes did play just fine for me.

Changing the global did indeed fix Captain Brelaina and Sir Grayson. The only problem is that I cannot travel between the sections of Neverwinter manually because the World Map changes too. Not being able to do the Blacklake quests properly (yet?) seems a small price to pay for continuing the main game, however.

I don't anticipate further (serious) problems; thanks for your help. I'm also going to be doubling the number of rotating saves I'm using. Repeating two hours of the game is better than wasting all the previous time put into it.

i don't quite understand what you're saying here ..

but, here's some RunScript commands that might help things along until they sort themselves out:

rs ka_hotspot_show("2200PortLlast")
rs ka_hotspot_show("2024Blacklake")
rs ka_hotspot_show("2013MerchantQuarter")
rs ka_hotspot_show("2000Neverwinter_A2")



(these got set at the beginning of ActII, np btw)

Also have the problem of Grayson not showing up, but even with the commands he doesn't pop up. Tried using the commands inside and outside.

If anyone has any more tips, it would be highly appreciated!

if Grayson doesn't show up after running this successfully in Brelaina's office,

rs ga_scripthidden("grayson", 0)


then I'm guessing there's a much more troublesome issue than scripting .. The reason i say this, is because Grayson is actually invisible in Brelaina's office but marked simply as 'scripthidden'. Since i can't see anything that says he is Destroyed() i Believe he should always be there ..
