“The geth might get me, but I'm not gonna die from an infection in the middle of a battle. That's just insulting!”

Kal'Reegar is a marine of the quarian Migrant Fleet that Commander Shepard meets on the former quarian colony of Haestrom in the Far Rim. He was part of a squad of Migrant Fleet Marines assigned to protect Tali'Zorah vas Neema, who was on the planet doing research on the system's sun. After arrival on Haestrom, the quarians were attacked by geth, who proceeded to slaughter most of the expedition save for Reegar and Tali. When Shepard encounters him, he is holed up on one side of a bridge, taking potshots with an ML-77 Missile Launcher

Kal'Reegar is one of the few quarians in the fleet who holds Tali in high regard.

Kal'Reegar  notes that while he believes that a war against the geth to reclaim their homeworlds would be futile, and ultimately harmful to the Migrant Fleet, he would never shy away from a fight or his military duties.
Despite his repeated claims to be a mere point-and-shoot man, Reegar proves himself to be quite intelligent. His experience in the field has given him a decent tactical knowledge of both small-scale skirmishes and large scale wars.  he also give Shepard some good advice on both the Geth Colossus and the layout of the battlefield.

At the end of Tali's trial, Reegar explains that he's been assigned to escort other quarian techs around to search for more signs of dark energy buildup and figure out what's causing it.

Suggested topics for discussion:

1. Temporary squadmate, permanent, or cameo? What do you want?

2. If you do not romance Tali do you find that kal and tali should be with each other?.

Yes!

Minor characters from previous games would be a great way to add new squadmates as people who are new will not have missed any crucial charcter development, but those who have played the previous games will still feel a similarity. Since we've only had Tali as a Quarian so far I'd love to see Kal return as a Squadmate, but since he can die fairly easily I don't think it's likely to happen Image IPB At least the game does register if he is alive or not in the myriad list of variables somewhere.

He was cool only because Baldwin was his VA. Otherwise he was a superfical shadow character as lame as Boba Fett with an insane amount of vapid fanbois.

That's a bit rough, we don't get any opportunity to explore his character...I thought he was likeable, it would be good to see him again.

People who think Kal is shallow were not paying attention, there is a lot of hidden depth in him that is waiting to be explored.

Ignoring his homages to Joe Friday, Kal is supposedly a simple soldier yet holds a large amount of tactical knowledge of the battle field (he commands and observes like a tactician), has intimiate knowledge of the political workings in the flotilla, is loyal to Tali and shows great insight into anything you ask be it Quarian capability in war, or where we should go in the battlefield.

I would love for him to be fleshed out more.

Well I think it helps that he's the first non scientist quarian we meet, and is friendly to shepard. Generally he seems to have a quite different mindset compared to the quarians shepard has met before and many of the quarians he/she has met since.

Don't get me wrong he's a very minor charactor and the larger part of his popularity is probably his voice actor, but he's a pleasant enough charactor and I'd personally enjoy him being in the third game as well, even as a minor role.

(I don't know whether those first quarians you see when you see tali again for the first time are scientists or not, but they were hostile so I don't think it matters.)

He's a soldier, he should have tactical knowledge, especially if in command position. And I'm sure a lot of Quarians have an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of politics, its basically in their living room. It would be like if the Senate convened in my kitchen, obviously I would know what's going on lol. And I don't know if loyal is the word I would use, he respects her and what she has done for the Flotilla.

I wanted to conscript him onto the squad around the time he was suggesting that the solution to a chest high piece of debris in front of a door wasn't to say, climb over it. No, no. Blow that sucker up.

Sure. I like him. And the interaction with Tali was really quite cute. Maybe something will happen between them if she's unromanced.

I'd really like it if Tali/Kal got together between ME2 and 3. Provided maleShep didn't romance her and he's still alive naturally.

+1 vote for "HELL YES!". I loved this character in ME2. He was a cool NPC, and I think the quarians will help us against the Reapers, along with other species. As Kal'Reegar was one of the notable quarians we met (on Haestrom, and during Tali's mission we could talk to him), I think there is a chance to see him again!

(And I totally agree, I want Tali + Kal.)
