Also, doublecheck that you're in Win XP SP 3 emulation mode as well, since that can sometimes cause odd behaviour in game when it tries to perform certain tasks if it's running in native win 7 mode, when it runs at all.

I successfully installed v 1.69 on my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Drive, 500GB (G:) and it loads to the menu screen. I can even start a new game and do the character creation. However, when I actually start the new game or try to load a saved game, it won't load. Two loading screens appear, one after another, and the first one loads fine. The second one, however, loads about 3/4 and then stalls everytime. Anybody have any ideas as to why and how I can fix it? Thanks.

Try running the nwn's configuration utility and see what happens.
Start NWN.exe > Click "Configure" > Click "Change" > Click "Scan" let the utility do it's thing then ajust the resolution to the one you like and try NWN play.
