I agree wholeheartedly! And you wouldn't have to really worry about icons, since only 1 would pop up whichever class you're playing. Soldier playthroughs have only soldier interrupts, etc.

Even if they weren't necessarily interrupts, I would support really anything that in some way distinguishes the classes from each other. Be it cutscenes, interrupts, or dialogue choices.

Oh lordy, I would've french-kissed a krogan if it would have gotten me class-specific dialog in ME1 during all those conversations with Kaidan about biotics. "blah blah Jump Zero, you must have gone through something similar, Commander?" "Oh god yes. Did they ever make you do the waterglass test, LT? Man I hated that." Or with Chakwas. "Kaidan was in again with headaches today. Your L3's not bothering you at all, is it?" What do we get instead, that one line about strong L3s that you can only even get to by asking a question that a lot of biotic Sheps wouldn't ask, and you spend the rest of the game sounding like a total ignoramus who's never even heard of a mass effect field before. And that's still more than we ever got in ME2. :crying:

This is an amazing idea, no lie.

I had actually thought it would have been cool to see Shepard use his biotics (in a cutscene) in the Suicide mission, providing you were a biotic, and something else for engineers and combat specialists.

Hmm, charging into someone as an interrupt...as a Vanguard, I have to say that I approve of this idea.

YES! Grunt style:

The important thing to note is that there don't actually have to be six different class interrupts (though that would be nice). There only have to be three.
1. Vanguard + Adept = biotic interrupt.
2. Engineer + Sentinel = texpert interrupt.
3. Infiltrator + Soldier = weapon interrupt.

I was thinking of a different system.  Adept = Biotic, Engineer = Tech, and Soldier = Combat.

Now, for the hybrids, they would be able to do the interrupts for both fields, but only at a low level.

For example, a sentinel would be able to use both biotic and tech interrupts, but wouldn't be able to do real powerful stuff like this:

It would be sort of like splitting your skill points between charm and intimindate in ME1.  You'd have access to a little bit of both sides, but not all of both sides. (Assuming, you didn't neglect your combat skills just to max out both)

I dislike such an idea.

Fragmenting content to make each gamers experience unique is good but it has to stop somewhere. If you keep doing that, you run the risk of having too many choices that are only available to a small portion of your audience.

I don't like missing out on content either, and I'm actually also a fan of Elder Scrolls as well, where, if you spend enough time, you can just make a god class, but Mass Effect has always been about choices, which by their nature, limit you to certain outcomes.

I am in support of this idea, although it seems kind of difficult to handle it. I mean, a Vanguard can charge into a closing door, but what about other classes in that situation? Will they follow a different path?

Engineer can hack a door.  Biotics, I don't know.  Make a huge biotic punch through it LOL.

Or maybe they won't make equivalent scenarios.  Maybe you'll just have to fight your way around it if you're not one of those two options, but your day will come later.  In certain situations, it will be better to be one class, and in others not so much.

Or they could always use squadmates, though those aren't as badass.

I'd say this is the best alternative.

I was always kind of bummed that vanguard and adept Sheps, at least, didn't get a chance to do the biotic bubble. Charge and Singularity are surely at least as powerful and difficult to create as Warp Ammo and Reave, and for sure infiltrator and engineer Sheps could've pulled off the maintenance shaft and door hacking (if Tali and Legion can do it, someone whose drone is approximately twenty times more powerful surely can as well, and Shep's cloak is longer-lasting than Kasumi's). It'd be a hassle to program so it was still entertaining for the player, but I'm sure it could be done, and how much fun would that have added to the equation? (Though obviously if Shep is in the shaft, you have to rework the consequences of picking bad fireteam leaders a bit.)

I love this idea, I'm actually kinda surprised that Bioware hasn't done this already.

Would be cool to have a few renegade/paragon interrupts that changed slightly based on your class.

Awesome idea. But what could Soldier do? Really?

Soldier class already has few abilities as it is. I see biotics do that cannon ripping much better.

*Toss a grenade, and I mean a real grenade, into the conversation*

Well, adepts can rip people with their biotics, but soldier can now use the omni blade. so if some game character is being too annoying, just rip his head off with the blade!:bandit:

I wholeheartedly approve of this thread, most importantly I think this thread is a crying out for class distinction in the realm of character interaction, something I think we can all endorse. We need class distinction!

Nothing like that, just RPG interaction elements...different to each class.

Yeah well the magic kind of gets ruined when Vasir tackles a Vanguard Shepard who breaks his fall on his neck while she glides down in biotic awesomeness. Same could be said when Engineer Shepard talks to Ken and Gabby and says "Derp derp, what iz diz teh omnitool tech?"

Forget about class interrupts.

Gender interrupts is where it is at.

Show femshep from behind, the sound of her armor plating falling to the floor or femshep unzipping her armor (not exactly sure how this would work), close up on some dude's face going all lusty and forgetting about what he was talkign about or trying to do.

I totally agree, it doesn't have to be interrupts but specially the biotic users should use their powers in some cutscenes. It really anoyed me that in LoTSB when Shepard and the asari specter jump out through the window my vanguard Sherpad didn't even try to use his biotics to take the edge and got slammed into the floor.

If this also entails my infiltrator, Miranda, Jacob, and Jack not holding up assault rifles in cutscenes, that would be awesome.

I think in Phaedon's thread they confirmed in cutscenes you wouldn't hold a weapon you can't use.

But wait, in ME3 all classes can use all weapons............

Oh snap!

On the topic of this thread, yes please!  class specific anything would make my day, be that interrupts, modifications to cutscenes, or dialogue (Quething's example about talking to Kaidan as a biotic Shepard and NaledGeborn's example about talking to Ken and Gabby as an engineer Shepard are perfect cases of the kinds of situations that would warrant this).  Really, I'm all for anything that makes me feel like the choices I made in creating my Shepard matter.  That goes for your pre-service history too... ME1 did an okay job of incorporating this with the unique side quests in addition to a few different lines of dialogue, but in ME2 I feel like I could have done a colonist/sole-survivor Shep and had exactly the same experience as with my main Shep, who is spacer/war-hero.  Well, except for a couple e-mails and one or two offhand references in dialogue, none of which had any real impact to me.  So guess what... I didn't bother.  Now, obviously in combat your class makes a huge difference.  But it would be nice to see your class make a difference outside of combat too when that makes sense.

Would appreciate class-specific content outside of combat.
