Another (hopefully) final update. ME1 Has been running solid now for 3 days. Changed the latency settings to 160 and it helped the frame rate a bit. I think this slowdown is caused my a lack of memory. The Nvidia card has 1 gig, but I only have 2 gigs on the mobo. Still, if I save the game and restart the system (after the memory clears) the frame rate goes back up again. Also noticed some missions are worse with frame rate than others and changing the graphics settings doesn't really help that much. Now running it on "medium settings". Anyways, job's done!
Maybe it was all caused by a Geth conspiracy?

I decided to revist my old Mass Effect thread for another update. Since I got a new ATI/Bulldozer rig with 8 gigs of ram, suddenly all of ME1s issues are all gone!
Maybe it was down to the amount for RAM (2 gigs) my old PC had afterall.

IMO, the primary problem was the Pentium P4 being an old dinosaur that was practically obsolete when first released, compared to AMD's processors at the time.
P. S. I haven't scanned back up over the prior pages. Chances are, if there was input I did offer before, it already targeted the P4.

You might be correct Gorath Alpha, its difficult to say, one things for sure more RAM is not going to hurt. Having the AMD Bulldozer certainly helps too, even though the press have been slagging it off a bit saying its not as good as they hoped it would be. All I know is that I am very happy with it's performance, especially so considering what I had before and ME1 is running smooth as silk on max settings.
