MASS EFFECT: DECEPTION will be written by William C. Dietz and released in February 2012.

The story: Former navy admiral David Anderson and Kahlee Sanders, director of the Ascension Project, appear before the Citadel Council with an urgent appeal: unless decisive action is taken, the galaxy-wide community of the Systems Alliance faces imminent annihilation by the Reapers, the race of sentient machines that invade worlds and harvest all life forms.
But the Council is skeptical, even when confronted with grisly evidence of the human/Reaper experiments that ultimately killed Paul Grayson. The only way David and Kahlee can prove their suspicions about the Reapers is by exposing Cerberus, the fanatical paramilitary group devoted to human preservation at any cost, and its involvement in the experiments.  But the Illusive Man, leader of Cerberus, will stop at nothing to protect his secrets.
Now, as David and Kahlee pursue their investigation, the Illusive Man?s relentless enforcer stays one step ahead of them, covering his master's tracks with ruthless efficiency. But Cerberus never bargained on Gillian Grayson, now a powerfully gifted Biotic, discovering the shocking truth about her father. And no amount of cunning may be enough to protect the Illusive Man and Cerberus from her terrible vengeance.

Can the books stop revolve around Cerberus for once? It's boring when they're focusing on only that part of the Mass Effect universe.

Not to mention that it sounds almost exactly like the plot in Retribution.

BioWare seem to have forgotten that Cerberus have Omega-Enkaphalin- a drug which neutralises biotic power. So how can no amount of cunning be enough to protect Cerberus? Just shoot her with an Omega-Enkaphalin dart and send in Kai Leng to finish her. No big deal.

yeah, i wouldn't mind seeing them concentrate on something else in the universe....but as far as it goes, i won't mind reading it to find out just why cerberus is after shep....

A dart which can easily be blocked by a biotic barrier.

Presuming she sees it coming.

I presume the "relentless enforce" they're talking about is Kai Leng?

sounds interesting...

But I really hope Cerberus is destroyed at the end of Mass Effect 3. The games, the comics, the novels...Cerberus, Cerberus, Cerberus -_-

Not again! May I borrow a time machine, for a quick trip into the past, to slip Kahlee's mother some contraceptives? She's leading Anderson astray again! She's out to destroy the galaxy, the Reapers are controlling her, I swear.

*groan* Will the Alliance get off Cerberus at least for a month? This is getting tiresome. Build your own shadow organization, save humanity from the Collectors, and then expose yourself. Stop resting on someone else's laurels!

Really, this is making me laugh.

*

Anderson: The Reapers are coming!

The Council: The Reapers, what Reapers? Never heard of them. Where's the evidence?

Anderson: Knew you'd ask for it. I have the evidence. Here's the avatar's corpse.

Turian Councilor: Looks like a geth to me.

Asari Councilor: Yes, definitely a geth.

Salarian Councilor: *is silent as usual*

Anderson: What do you want? What evidence is good enough?

The Council: Expose Cerberus. We want them gone. They're a menace to galactic stability. They're making humanity too powerful, and we can't allow that. Destroy them, and then we'll believe in Reapers. Maybe.

*

I hope Kahlee Sanders is in ME3, and that there's an opportunity to kill her, because I really, really want to take that opportunity. In the most gruesome way possible.

"By the end of the story, Mary Sue will be in bed with the desired character, will have beamed away amid cheers from all the regulars, or will be dead, usually accompanied by heavy mourning from the cast. The reader, on the other hand, will be celebrating." (Melissa Wilson)

I like Sanders and I also like the idea of her making a cameo in ME3.

When Cerberus switched sides to a protagonist's helper in ME2, and Shepard became "shadow" protagonist, Sanders took Shepard's place next to Anderson as a "good" protagonist. Someone's got to fill that role, you know?

Her very existence belabors the point that Shepard's not on the "right" side anymore. She's nobody who came out of nowhere and now is the most important person in the world for no good reason whatsoever. Oh, and all men think she's attractive.

Personally, I hate her for all the harm she's done to Cerberus and our war effort against the Reapers. And she simply can't have enough of it. Some humans really should contribute their randomizer to the asari genepool. Their treacherous nature would seep right through the interspecies barrier and make the asari species destroy themselves.
