Any Retro Gamers On Here?

Was just wondering if there were any fans on here of older games and hardware. I myself have a growing Amiga herd of an A500+, CD32, two A1200s, A4000 and console wise a PS1 and two X Box 1s. I still fire up one of the Amigas regularly for a quick game of UFO, Cannon Fodder, Gloom or Frontier, the PS1 for Colony Wars and the Xbox for Dark Alliance.
So, does anyone else like to re-vist the past?

Yup, I had an A1200, too, and before that, I had a Commodore 64. And before that, all the way back in 1987-ish, I had a Commodore 16. That may be why, depite the vast slew of great games out there today, they'll never be as good as Jeff Minter...
Hell, I even did my undergraduate disseration on why Amigas went down the swanny!

The C64 still remains one of my favourite gaming platforms, to this day, with two games always standing out as favourites: International Karate+ and Creatures 2: Torture Trouble. I still remember taking the p**s out of my best mate, since he only had a 16 colour Speccy...
I'd like to point out that everyone in this thread so far is my kinda people!Milana_Saros wrote...

ETA:
The C64 was a favourite amongst my group of friends, at least partly for that reason, with the games coming on audio tapes (no fancy floppy drives for us, no sirree). I rememeber maaaaaaaaaaaaany games I borrowed off my friend, sticking them in my dad's tape deck, pressing high speed dubbing, and remembering to turn the sound down, to avoid blowing his speakers out... lolMoondoggie wrote...
Never had any Amiga's though my friend
had a few when i was young. They were so easy to copy games and trade
them on nobody at the time thought of it as being illegal lol. I still
own several Atari models, A Commadore 64,Sega Master System II,Sega Mega
Drive (Genesis),Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, Nintendo wise i own the
NES,SNES,Famicom and N64 several Game Boy's,Neo Geo and Neo Geo Pocket
systems and a whole bunch more.

Although I concede, that was one of the Jeff Minter games I DIDN'T play, so I had to use Google Fu...

I do re-visit old games occasionally. A few months back I played Turrican 2 on an emulator and not long ago I played UFO : Enemy Unknown. Played BG1 & 2 as well recently. BG2 was a real pain to get to work on a modern computer.
I've got my X-COM disc on my desk right this minute. (That's the US release of UFO -- the funny thing is that they only changed the title on the box, so when you boot the game up it still says UFO).
What's wrong with BG2 on a modern computer, anyway?

It's sad because I think she just threw them in the trash. Both still worked, even though the NES was kind of broken.

Personally I hate the word 'retro', because no two people have the same meaning for what the word means. Your 'retro' is not my 'retro' I grew up with Castlevania, Megaman, Ninja Gaiden for the NES. That is my definition of retro. I'm sure many people here have a different meaning for the word.
Yeah, and then some people even go back to the Atari.
And how about the very first Gameboy.

It's not truly retro unless it involves punch-cards...RPGamer13 wrote...

You're just trying to deflect attention away from the fact we're old enough to be considered primeval gamers...Geraldine wrote...
I do agree that "retro" is very much a generational thing, but that is what makes it interesting, Depending when we all got into gaming, one person's retro could be another's cutting edge. Me? I only completed Half Life 1 about 3 years ago. I just had to find out what all the hoo ha was about. Yep, it does not matter when you started gaming, whether it was a speccy, a miggy, a SNES or a Game Boy, all points are valid. The important thing is we remember those games and platforms from the past.
