These topics may or may not have been covered already but I feel the need to speak up about them.  There are three very basic features the forums here lack, whether due to oversite or intent I am unsure.  This is not an 'omg the forums sux' rant.  I seek to point out valid concerns and hope for constructive feedback.

First:  For the General board:  Report Spoiler


We can report someone for being vulgar, abusing children, spam, not hugging puppies and a dozen other things but we can't report them for breaking forum rules and ruining the game for others.   Sadly, the moderators here are really outgunned and cant read every post, so a ton of things from minor quest spoilers to entire endgame plot destroyers slip through the general board every 5 minutes or so.  This is, sadly, not an exageration.   Since the architecture for reporting various violations is already in place, I don't see any reasonable reason not to be able to report spoilers as well.  If there ARE reasonable reasons, a large number of community members would be interested in hearing them.


Secondly:  Delete Post.

You may or may not be aware (mods I have talked to were NOT aware) that users cannot delete our own posts.  We can edit them to be blank, but not delete them.   This seems like forum 101 stuff and I can only assume it was accidently removed and not noticed since moderators, of course, always have the delete option.   Once again, this seems like an easy fix with the base architecture already in place, and many forum members would love to see it rectified.   If I am mistaken as to my thoughts on this, again, I would be interested to hear the reasoning.

Third: Spell Checker

Quick reply has a spell checker but the full-formed reply does not.  In the interests of brevity see above topics in reguard to pre-existing architecture and reasoning.

The problem with this is that the report function bypasses BioWare entirely. The (exact) architecture actually isn't in place. I do agree that a way to report threads/posts/users directly to site moderators/developers/people with banhammers would be a great addition, since contacting moderators directly is so relatively ineffective.

Don't hold your breath, they haven't even implemented a proper dev tracker and from what you can read from the official FAQ's last question http://social.bioware.com/help.php , they probably won't have for a while.



Why doesn't the site/forum have feature ____?

We unfortunately have a limited amount of time and resources to spend on this site - many features would take too long or too many servers to implement, and will likely never be added. That said, we are actively looking for new features to add. Feel free to suggest new features in the forums - our developers do read and consider every suggestion!

Yeah, but the main point I am getting at is that none of the above features (aside possibly from spoiler reporting) "would take too long or too many servers to implement" since the features in fact already xist, they are simply not enabled for common users.
