It's not looking like it; we already know that Ashley/Kaiden/Garrus/Liara and Tali are permanent and since the squad is smaller, who else could they add? Miranda probably won't be...ideas? will it be based soley on popularity with the fans? or something else?

i would say popularity has some part in it but also who the devs feel have the most worth to carry over.

ash/kaidan/liara/tali and garrus all have very personal links to shepard (outside of them being LIs) that connect with his story and his descions; im guessing thats why they appear to be at the core of the squad make up.

i think if anyone from ME2 were to return as sqaudmates it would be miranda and legion.
miranda can probley help you find TIM and legion can help appeal to the orginal geth and help fight the remaing ones that fight for the reapers.

With all of this talks about remade Jack, her hair and new mature look I'd say she'll probably return - too many resources spent for cameo.
Crossing fingers for the rest of LI - Jacob, Miranda and Thane - who hasn't been confirmed yet.

We don't even know if 'permanent' squadmate means what we think it does. We could have squadmates rotating in and out all game for all we know.

My guess is either that, or all LIs are going to be confirmed. No way they'd leave any romance out--the fan rage would be incredible.

Miranda has a good chance. Also Grunt loves to fight, and he knows Shepard is always getting into good fights. Also Shepard is Grunt's Battle master, so I don't see why he'll leave. Plus we need a kick ass Krogan because it looks like Wrex isn't making it as a permanent squad mate.

i figure once the SM was over grunt would leave to go be with his clan serve under wrex and help urdnot rebuild the krogan.

i belive this now more than ever since urdnot is at war with other clans.

I for one would extremely upset if we didnt get a Krogan as a permanent squaddie, be it Grunt or Wrex or hell someone new! the game would feel incomplete without one....and thats a credit to Bioware for creating the ultimate badass's in the sci-fi genre

There's probably going to be a lot more than we think. But I am expecting most of them to be new characters because the latter would take a lot of work and stat analysis. If you think about how many of the characters have the possibility of dying, the only one you have guaranteed to survive is Liara. Everyone else can kick the bucket before ME3, and can you imagine how stale the game would be if the only 3 squadmates you had were Liara, James, and Ash/Kaidan? It would suck really bad! So 1 of 2 things is going to happen:
1) They'll put in a crap ton of work and put the characters that were most likely to survive as squadmates
2)They'll add in more new ones for the chance that people chose to have squadmates die.
I can possibly see them combining the 2 in some fashion, but I think 2 is most likely.

I just hope my Li will be there.. I've got playthroughs for all the male shep Li's and I'd like to see how they all carry over to ME3.. *please be perm squaddies*

There has been a krogan squad mate in both 1 and 2 so it should be fiiting to have another krogan squad mate in ME 3 I also hope that Legion is full squad mate in ME 3 after the geth/qurian war
