Not even a new area ambush encounter?

From a resource allocation perspective, you run into the issue that either it's A) a new area in Kirkwall, in which case the players are rightfully asking 'well, why can't I do more than just get ambushed in this area?' or B) an old area in Kirkwall that's been repurposed, in which case we're adding extra data for a scene that may or may not be necessary. In the end, we decided that it didn't add enough to justify taking the hours away from other areas. I think it was the right decision in the end. Still, I'll miss never knowing if my Carta pyramid through the skylight idea would have worked ;)

I'm not sure how rightful players would be in asking that, there were quite a few ambush areas in the game (and DAO) that I don't recall people complaining about, nor do I really see why they should have complained. I'm not sure how many of those were recycled back alleys or outdoor environments and how many were new areas specifically to get ambushed in though. As far as the scene possibly not being necessary, I guess so. Without context it sounds like it would have been nice to have.

Will it play differently, if you play as femhawke?. Because you know she is so much better looking
What I mean more or less , is different responses( Apart from basic changes in dialouge like ' son/daughter brother/sister.)

Great now I'm imaging like 10 medium armored dwarves stacked up like cheerleaders ^_^

DA2 had only 2 "ambushes", and they were entirely scripted. By that I mean they happened when you did a specific quest (those being Saemus' death quest and Fenris' Act 2 companion quest). In DAO the random encounters could happen at any time during your travels.

As for seeing the Carta dwarves attacking, I wouldn't have complained if it was a new map or recycled one, as the entire DLC has new areas. And I won't complain about the lack of Carta dwarves attacking, as that happens more or less throughout the entire game. So I'll chalk it up to some of those Carta dwarves attacking me because Corypheus told them to.

However, can we explore the Vimmark mountains afterwards? Will it still appear on the map after Legacy is over with? Can we go back to Kirkwall at any point during our trek through Legacy?

There's also the guy who sponsors your expedition if you can't afford it who will ambush you if you refuse to be blackmailed. And wouldn't this be entirely scripted too?

The dwarf? Yea he'd be scripted.

I know his was scripted, I'm talking about this hypothetical DLC encounter.

Like say for instance you get a threatening letter at your estate (you know, the kind that in modern times would have words from the newspaper clipped out and glued onto the letter to form sentences), then once you 'accept' the letter you get the encounter.

Of course I know this is all 'armchair developing,' but still. Seems like such a scene would add value.

Ah. Yes that too would be scripted.

I'm saying though that DAO had random encounters, something DA2 lacked. Actual random encounters. I should add that DAO could be seen from a development viewpoint as not being random (for whatever reason. Algorithms or some other reason), but gameplay wise it was random.

DAO had its fair share of scripted "random" encounters as well, usually dealing with certain side quests from the Chanter's Board/Mages' Collective/Gnawed Noble Tavern. But there were also random encounters like the Giant Spiders, the "Why didn't we take the giant eagles" one, Axameter, etc.

Those encounters added to the nature of Ferelden, making it seem like a country. Of course, I would've liked to see some random encounters take place in villages that the Darkspawn had destroyed so we could get a sense of the Blight's progress.

There's probably always going to be a sense of "You could've showed more in regards to X, Y, and Z". And in some cases that's entirely true, but in others it's asking for a lot.

I do miss those random encounters. Especially for the chance to get Old Tegrin v2. Some shady dwarf in a back alley with a trench coat, "What're ya buying?" "Got some rare things on sale, stranger."

 Or maybe it could actually still be Old Tegrin, just shadier after hard times trying to set up business in Kirkwall.

Oh god now I'm imagining it going down like this:

Tegrin: Hey mac
*opens trench coat*
Varric: Whoa whoa whoa! Andraste's dimpled buttcheeks man, not in front of Daisy!
Merrill: Varric, what's that?
Varric: You don't want to know, Daisy. You don't want to know.
Isabela: It's sagging.
Tegrin: Are you gonna buy it or what?

However, the flags set during Legacy will definitely be used later. The whole DLC has some pretty hefty significance for our good buddy The Champion of Kirkwall

Cool. So there's more hefty DLC in the pipeline perhaps furthering the Legacy storyline.

...perhaps even finally gifting us with some foresight into where the Champion disappears off to.

Potentially epic news.

Question from me...let's see...is there anything at all I want to know...

My biggest question's been answered to my liking (it's story heavy, which is good. BioWare has some great writers). But I got two others:

-If using an post-game save will companions who died in the final mission still be available?
-Will Legacy have epilogues or just drop us back into the main game?

Does the Varric-Cassandra dialogue take place AFTER the ending of Dragon Age II? The way she says, 'you left it out' sort of alludes to that, or rather does the dialogue take place in the middle of the other conversations of Varric-Cassandra in DA2? (Yes, I love continuity :D)

@Jamie9, it's set up to pop in whenever but if you finished up DA2 it's set before the last battle.
Man, I want to hear all the VO! I have 3 Hawkes so hopefully I can get both siblings in, Varric, Isabella, Anders, Avaline..... - also I read somewhere on here by a dev that there's some Isabella/ Avaline banter that's pretty racy. Curse you BW for having too many combos to hear everythinnnnnngggg!!!!1 :P

I don't know whether this has been asked before so here goes nothing. Is Legacy in some way connected to future DLC? Is it part of a larger story?

Give Luke has already said that there are plot flags from Legacy that will be carried forward for something in the future I'd say that was....... well a given.

That merely suggest Legacy will have some kind of impact in the game, it doesn't specifically answer my question. Look to the edited part for details.

TY so much guys who did the stream you answered the huge question on reusing the same areas! I wished I knew when the live stream was so I could of asked a question on since the DLC will feature new tatics that AI baddies use will this DLC feature that same kind of AI outside the DLC?

There are no new companions in the DLC.
