Will we get a new patch prior to the new DLC?

I don't believe so.

Will we get a new patch, ever?

Well, since you said 'ever' I can definitely say yes. When that occurs will largely be based on how smoothly the DLC launch goes. Unfortunately, due to the way patches work on consoles we can't just release fixes to small issues whenever we want (which is why our first two patches were so large).

Do choices in DAO/DAA have any impact on the  Legacy story (Amell Warden, Architect alive or dead, etc.)?  I'm hoping none of the bugged decisions have an impact.

As far as I know there isn't any DAO plotflags pulled in. Now, I could be wrong as I know there is some special Anders dialogue but I don't think* it requires any plotflag checks.

However, the flags set during Legacy will definitely be used later. The whole DLC has some pretty hefty significance for our good buddy The Champion of Kirkwall

I don't know whether this has been asked before so here goes nothing. Is Legacy in some way connected to future DLC? Is it part of a larger story?

EDIT: You know, much like DA2 is broken into three acts, perhaps Legacy is a self-contained unit that develops across multiple installments?

Can't really answer that without giving too much away. Feel free to ask again after it has been released :bandit:

Give Luke has already said that there are plot flags from Legacy that will be carried forward for something in the future I'd say that was....... well a given.

That's quite an assumption before you even know what Legacy is really about. Saying that the flags will be used in the future does not necessarily mean they will be used right away or that it's part of some larger story...though it doesn't really mean the contrary either. :P

I wish there was a better introduction to the DLC. We're just told, not shown that the Carta has been going after the Hawkes. It's a minor problem, but still a problem.

That's one of Bioware's biggest problems in the DA series. They tell but don't show.

It is a problem but like many of the other big problems with the DA2 and the series in general, probably wont be fixed with DLC, an expansion pack however might. But most likely we will have to wait for DA3

Watching the playthrough I was thinking how awesome it would have been to see Carver get surprise attacked in the Gallows and see how that went down. Or a cutscene of Hawke leaving the hanged man and getting jumped by Carta thugs and complaining "This is the third time this week! What gives?" or something

But then I'm one of those weird people that likes cutscenes.

We storyboarded this, actually, and came up with some different ways of doing it. A couple of things got in the way, unfortunately, including some engine limitations (it's very, very difficult to create a new scene in an existing area without forcing the user to redownload a new version and bloating the filesize of the DLC). But yeah, it's something we would've liked to do.

Not even a new area ambush encounter?

From a resource allocation perspective, you run into the issue that either it's A) a new area in Kirkwall, in which case the players are rightfully asking 'well, why can't I do more than just get ambushed in this area?' or B) an old area in Kirkwall that's been repurposed, in which case we're adding extra data for a scene that may or may not be necessary. In the end, we decided that it didn't add enough to justify taking the hours away from other areas. I think it was the right decision in the end. Still, I'll miss never knowing if my Carta pyramid through the skylight idea would have worked ;)

will a circle bethany/ templar carver join you for the quest if you choose to do it in act 2 or 3, or will you have to do it in act 1 to have them with you?

As long as they aren't dead you'll be able to take them at any time. Their dialogue will adapt to the circumstances.

I've seen it mentioned that the DLC works anywhere in the game (ie all 3 Acts). I've also heard it said that it would be very tough if you went really early in Act 1, say before character level 5.

My question is (and apologies if it's been answered before elsewhere), does it scale with player level, or will it be harder if done earlier and easier if done later?

It does scale, though there are certain aspects of the fights that only scale down so far - this means that if you go too early, it can be very, very difficult.
