I've dated men younger than myself and am currently doing so. So far I've not had any complaints, or funny looks for that matter.

Besides, I think some men enjoy having an older women because we can show them how it's really done.

You meant cooking right...

The question to ask is are you happy. If so, then go for it.

So you had to show the guy you're with how it's done. Interesting.

a friend of mine married a man many years her junior, and he died unexpectedly from an aneurism. so simply to echo the previous argument, age and the possibility of death shouldn't be top of your list when thinking about this stuff. how you feel about each other should be.

it's difficult to find love, with someone who lights up your world. if you find it, and if you're both happy, nothing else matters.

That probably had to do with the specific person, not their age. Don't let it jade you, or you might miss out on someone wonderful!

No no, AN is incredibly well tuned when it comes to sex and by far beats any guy I've ever been with. However, an older woman can sometimes have the advantage of experience and her maturity can be a bonus.

My mother is in a relationship with a man 11 years her senior. I suppose because he's older than her, it's more culturally acceptable. I don't know of one person who's ever said anything about the gap in their age.

There is also someone who is in a relationship with a man 12 years her junior. I suspect that would be viewed differently by many people, despite the fact that they themselves are very comfortable with the situation.

If we want to talk about mortality and so on, people say that men seem to die younger than women, as a trend, so one would think the latter situation would be deemed more socially acceptable than the former, and yet the reverse is true. Probably because of paternalistic notions of the man as protector and dominant person in a relationship. An older woman can be seen as dangerous, threatening, and so on. But let's consider that a younger woman with an older man is always also deemed as the one in the wrong, not the older man. Basically, this is society's problem with women — if women are anything other than diminutive or submissive in a relationship, and that includes their age as a symbol for that submissiveness, they are considered to be threatening, clearly after something sinister, not truthful, and so on. Men are almost always considered to simply be pursuing a relationship, sexual or romantic, whether they be older or younger than their partner.

This isn't about age. This is about cultural representations of gender and power distribution in relationships.

No it was very much due to age, specifically my age at the time.

If a man needs a woman to show him how it's done then that man is no real man.  A real man prefers a hot teenager who will call him master.

OR!

A real man could enjoy a more mature woman who's confident, sexy, experienced and will role-play.

I know what I'd rather have.

Your Both right! But i think it depends on the women more to be honest on rarther how old she is, I don't mind a bit younger, i definitely don't mind a bit older..but to me the women herself counts for more...

When you say 'role-play' Duck, I'm going to go ahead and guess that you don't mean pretending to be a Gold Dwarf cleric in a mine full of bugbears. At least, I got the impression that my husband was a little miffed when I popped on a beard, shouted 'For Clangeddin!' and tried to hack him to death with an axe.

Oh my god, I lol'd.

Nono. It's bunny-ears and miniskirts all the way.

EDIT: I would like to clarify that when I say bunny-ears, I do not mean that my boyfriend wants me to pretend to be a rabbit because he's into bestiality. Just... no, okay?
