Saw this still not a must buy for me. Actual Legacy gameplay starts at 2:45. Also this is casual mode which is why everything dies so easy.

Hmmm. I do believe I'll be purchasing this dlc. What he said gave me hope for the future,at least.

What did he say, since I am not in a place where I can watch videos.

Just that they've libeally taken feedback from the fans, and will do their best to implement. Not in so many words in the video, but it was inferred.

Ah thanks! I am not sure what to think of that. Part of me is...YAY. Another part is a little gun shy.

You know - I think quite highly of the combat in DA2 - I found it quite enjoyable - but I don't know if its the art direction but its not as enjoyable to watch as DAO. Maybe its just me.

Still - I'll reserve my judgement of this DLC until I see you wonderful forumers opinions.

The beginning is pretty much pimping DA2 out. The team didn't sit on their laurels at the end of DA, da2 could be used to bring innovation to move the franchise forward, gained new fan, and old fans like the new art style, the combat system, and how the story is focused on a new hero and his journey through power.

Moving past this, it looks like enemies wont drop from the sky. I still can't believe that guy died on casual.

The great part about working in development is you get to see people of all skill levels play the game. From terrible to unbelievably good. But Legacy does tend to require a little more attention on the part of the user, and as such can be a bit of a mentality shift when you first start playing it.

Fewer, but more complex encounters would be the way I'd put it.

My monitor doesn't mind when I cuss at it. And I always feel more epic once I beat something that may be more challenging. Of course I wouldn't recommend anyone be within hearing distance while I figure it out, I get...colorful in my language choices?:lol:

The gameplay demo was a little short for me to judge. Would have loved to see some of those tactically complex encounters without parachuting enemies in action, but still hoping they will be the norm.

It's probably a combination of the casual difficulty and xbox controls, but it looked rather like the game still plays like dynasty warriors; run up and mash your attack buttons on the enemy 'till they drop. With the new thing being "don't hit guys with huge shields from the front". But like I said, too short to get an idea what it will be like.

As for art style, I'm all for glorious high resolutions and the more polygons the better, but the actual style is a step down to me. something about the limited palette, armor designs and other things I have a hard time putting my finger on that just doesn't work well for me.

Well it's not like we haven't seen bolt archers stay at a distance and shoot the crap out of you, while a lieutenant or something tries to beat the crap out of you. The only thing new would probably be the genlock's shield ram and how much coverage it has against attacks. The massive number of pride demons are like Branka and her duplications during the Anvil of the Void. Except the pride demons just stand still and don't have a platoon of golems.

So I can't really tell if the encounters are more complex then before. I'll have to wait and see more footage.

I am not sure why I feel so down. I did enjoy DA2 but I just couldn't get through another playthrough. I still replay ME1&2 and DAO. I honestly cannot put my hand on what I feel is wrong, but I DID enjoy playing it, but just not multiple times.

And after seeing this brief preview... I can honestly say I have no interest in Legacy. Which is heart breaking to me because I so much want to support the title. I just do not feel any joy in what I just saw.

Lol. I did post same video yesterday and mod lock topic telling me that I should move discussion to thread about Legacy. Here someone post it again and mod is doing nothing. Heh.

What I saw in this video:
1. That mob with shield was nice idea. Too bad it was not used in main game. It could provide something new than "kill them all and wait for next wave".

2. Map is still for people that think if game have point A (start) and point B (destination) on the map and more than one path to them - they will lost. Do you think that only stupid people play games or what ? In old days you got complex maps and loot of places to explore. Here you have narrow straight path like in some stupid shooter...

3. Nothing really change about combat experience. Except from that mob you need to attack from behind it's still awesome button smasher.

4. Waves of monsters was bad so you throw us waves of big monsters ? WTF ? Don't you people learn anything ? They are big and they still appear out of pure air :|

5. I don't know about everything else. Gameplay was too short.

Looking good there, I'm all for fewer yet more difficult encounters as John put it. And I'm glad that this DLC when played through the regular campaign will sort of break up and add something new instead of ol' Kirkwall, Kirkwall and more Kirkwall. Hopefully by the end of DA II's life span there will be multiple DLC ( or an expansion, God willing ) that when you play a fresh game from beginning to end, DA II wont feel so linear in terms of explorable areas.

Well, it was their show and all. You can't blame them for hyping it to their shareholders.

Remeber when you got a blank map and it filled up as you explored more? That was awesome.

I still find what was shown dissapointing. I am not excited for the dlc at all and won't be buying it until I see reviews. Especially considering how bad all the Origins DLC was.

The problem with DA2 is how the maps are drawn in one straight line with little variety. Simply put, it's a RPG with corridor combat.

Here's a suggestion: Draw a BIG circle for the map and then add the necessary elements to enrich and diversify the experience.

You forgot that according to Bioware - they make RPG games for people who don't play RPG games...
So it is only natural for them to make simple stupid games right now.

0/10 for keeping the crappy map design philosophy (check point A to check point B is boring).

1/10 for creating an enemy with a big shield.

That Pride demon encounter looked kind of lame. It looks like it only has one attack (green energy ball) that does little damage in addition to the Ogre ground-pound (which does too much damage by comparison). It's also incredibly easy to pick out the real one among the clones and since all the clones die when you root out the real one... it would seem that the enounter just devolves into a typical hack'n'slash quickly.
