We need more support to make him official. Story wise, it would make a lot of sense for Grunt to stay by Shepard, so hopefully that will allow him to stay on our core squad.

I'm not sure we have much power at this point, I think the guys at bioware have already made their choices, they've already told us that some characters will be temporary

I swear I'll be pretty miffed if he doesn't appear as squaddie. >=( I can understand Wrex since he's leading his people, but Grunt??? You're his freaking battlemaster and he fights ONLY for you, so how can BIOWARE simply drop him off the face of the universe?!
It was bad enough we got robbed of a qunari companion in DA2 (hell, we didn't even see any qunari or dwarf females even tho the concept was released, efing rushers), but a Krogan?? Not to have one of the most badass aliens in ME universe, for a squaddie in the final part of the trilogy it's gonna suck BIG TIME!
Developers if you're reading this, be smart and don't repeat the mistake DA team did.

something that REALLY bugs me about Grunt is that weird dent in his back, its like a crater that goes for far into the suit it'd go into his actual torso. its just really bad looking. i mean i know its a minor thing, but damn he needs new armor.

I can't believe I haven't posted here previously.

Anyway, while Wrex is ultimatley my favorite krogan, Grunt has grown on me and it would make sense if Wrex were busy leading the Krogan that Grunt would be fighting alongside his battlemaster. If nothing else, he's a growing boy and the Normandy is literally the place where he was born. I don't understand why he would leave.

It just seems strange given that he's one of only four characters in all of Mass Effect to ever be immortalized into action figure form (proudly on my own shelf) and yet hasn't even been mentioned yet at all regarding Mass Effect 3.

You are right. Grunt has to stay with us, it makes sense story wise and it would be a cool award to have him in ME3 if he survived ME2. It would honestly be bad writing if they got rid of Grunt for some random reason.

We can't accuse Bioware of bad writing just because they do something we don't like, you don't call a book or movie bad because a character gets knocked off, if its in the interest of story its worth it, do I think its worth it? No, but I know that this installment will be well written just as the last two were. I think from a game aspect it would be a poor choice to not have a krogan as they've become a a cool niche in the game but we can all rest easy knowing no matter what it will be a good game, Murphy's law has little precedent there. (If he is just a temporary character I'll probably leave a save there so I can go there whenever I feel like it so there might be something to think about there)

But the way Grunt was written, it would feel very OOC for him to just leave you suddenly in 2 month period between ME2 and ME3. My point is, that it's not in Grunt's Interest to just leave, he loves to fight along side shepard. If Bioware can come up with a good enough excuse, than I suppose it's okay for him to leave, but I just don't see a good excuse for him to leave and not be part of my squad.

The only thing that worries me is the message the shaman sends you about keeping Grunt alive so he can help the Krogan. If whatever they write into ME3 about the krogan is putting Tuchanka at an immediate threat then we may lose Grunt. Of course, given that Wrex is leading the krogan I would think Grunt should be recruitable after that point but I feel like I've already speculated to much at this point.

Short version, I agree with you guys I want Grunt as a squad member in ME3 especially because at comicon they  said they noticed that the way they set it up you could only really get to know your LIs well so now they made being a crew member's friend more in depth I'll be pissed if I don't have a krogan.

Hey, do any of you have twitter (I don't have an account)? Maybe someone can ask Steve Blum (VA of Grunt) or a bioware dev about Grunt. Maybe then this thread will start moving faster.

Even Jacob´s support thread has more pages and everybody knows he´s the most unpopular squaddie, right after the doppelgänger. I definetely want Grunt for a permanent squaddie and a LI in ME3. It would be just simply empty without a krogan all the way.

And Twitter is for the volus too, you know?!Image IPB

ok a topic that seen to be on my mind. What role will he play in mass effect 3? And should he be more than about kill and fighting? I think his role in mass effect should be as the person who show support for all krogans and be key to the cure for krogans. for mass effect 3 i think he should be at least willing to have more conversation and less about fightin and killing. But i fine with they way he is and cant wait to hear the banners between him and the other squad(jack) lol :)

I've also been wondering about Grunt's future. I hope he still loves the kill but is a little more focused on the krogan and their problems. I could see him helping Wrex pull the other krogans into line.

Yeah, I could see him helping out Wrex, but after that he should join Shep.

Hem I dunno if our posts will change Grunt's fate ... But yet I would like to know if perma squaddies and non perma squaddies are definitively set now cuz we know Bioware should have worked a lot about this in the game and now everything should have been done with it ( I think).
Now let's hope that Grunt will be a perma squaddie :)
