Actually the M-7 Lancer is the rifle of the Alliance military, not the M-8 Avenger.

As for the Mattock, I doubt it will be as overpowered in ME3 as it was in ME2, and I'd have loved to have an N7 Assault Rifle

EDIT: I'll also add that the whole 'the Avenger IS the N7 rifle in lore' argument doesn't work. Special Forces frequently use different weapons to riflemen. In the Aussie army, riflemen use the Austeyr, whilst the Commandos and SASR use the M-4 SOPMOD. They also have the HK417 rifle. In the US military the GI's use M-16's and M-4's, whilst groups like DEVGRU and Delta use the HK416/417 and the SCAR.

Seemed to be the same old Mattock from ME2 in the demos, let's hope it stays that way! I love my Mattock, Tech Armor, Shoot, and then use Thro-Oh wait... They're already dead.

I loved using the Mattock i never used any other weapon except the geth plasma shotgun but now i got bored of it i hope there is a new awesome assault rifle just as awesome and powerful as the Mattock.

You Mattock fans better be brought back down to Earth in ME3. The Revenant was always meant to be king, and it would have remained king if the Mattock worked in Adrenaline Rush the way it should.

The Revenant is king: at wasting ammo. Don't worry it still holds it's title. For those people who actually want to maximise the 'impact' of each bit of ammo though...

But with mods changing in ME3, there can be some really nice changes in store.

The N7 AR could be a reward for completing the game, possibly insanity reward like the GPR, an import bonus, or something else. Also, the Lancer is the workhorse, I picture the N7 AR to be more of a spec-ops version of it at the least.

Plus, Shep is more mobile now - getting up close and personal will be much easier and deadlier than ever for Revenant wielding fanatics like myself.

I'm all for the Revenant being more capable, but honestly even the one time where I played as Soldier (prior to the DLC weapons) I actually reloaded the start of the mission so I could choose something else.

But yes, It is nice up close, but so are shotguns...

Actually Charge + Revenant is pretty awesome. I always use the Mattock except on Husk missions, when the Revenant becomes a whole lot more useful.
