I had THREE problems With DAO UE. purchased on steam and running win 7 64 bit.
First: all DLC tabs were empty.
Secondly: was when i mannaged to add the DLC it would be unatherized
Thirdly: DAO awakenings was not showing in DLC nor could i start it as a new game.

i thought steam had sold me a duff game and annaly rapped me

After days of searching this forum and ripping out hair, whilst my wife was threatening to strangloe me and put a SLEDGE HAMMER through my MONITOR!!!!!!

I mannaged to solve all these issues.

if you are having any of these problems this should work for you even on 64 bit systems use the paths iv provided.

01:                 Find your dragon age folder, you may have saved it else where but this is how I find mine.
C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age ultimate edition\\Redist
once your in there find the file that says DAOU_UpdateAddinsXML_Steam run this file.
when that finishes run the other file called DAUServiceSetup_Steam.
when both have finished start up your dragon age ultimate and hopefully everything should be working.

02:                   If it still dose not work, type in a search pannle "services.msc" and chech for DragonAge updater if the service is pressent select and start
Now restart DAO UE

03:                    If dragonage updater is not listed in sevices follow this path
"C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Famework\\" and select the highset Version
in thier should be a tool call "insallutil" copy and paste this to you DRagonage bin_ship folder.
select propertys, go to compaterbilitys tab and select "Run as Admin"
Drag and drop "DAUpdaterSvc.Service" onto the Installutil and this will install the dragonage updater sevice into services.msc
Restart DAO UE

04:                      If content still says Unatherized repeat step 02:
this shoul fill both the installed tab and the download tab in DLC, just reinstall all DLC and away we go.

it may be nesicery to tell the DAO updater servise to start each time you want to play or to set it to automatic, this just means it starts running as soon as you start windows, it will not affect you OS run time or functionality.

I also caused my self a problem with gettin past the launch splash screen b y setting DAO to run as admin, to fix this just unselect run as admin in the DAO property

I have the disc install and purchased the dlc's Darkspawn,Golems of Amgarrak, Leliana's Song and Witch Hunt. I have downloaded them and 'installed' them via their included installer. The game does NOT acknowledge that they are installed and says because of new content the owner of the game must log in. I am logged in. I logged out and back in and they were in the currently installed content and ok, then the switched to the purchase screen and said that I was not authorized to have the content. WHY does it not see the dern thing? I just bought the dlc's after finishing Origons and started Awakenings. They are listed on the available tab AND the downloaded tab, but in the already downloaded area it says 'unauthorized." I already paid for the dern things. HELP pls. Do not have Steam for this game, btw.

I have tried every step multiple times and i still have the unautherized part. As far as i know i've done everything like you said, but the DA updater does not appear in the services list. Didn't get any errors while doing step 3
Repeating step 2 (like you suggest after step 3) does not show me the updater in the services list. Also when i restart the game it does not show double like you suggest (both as dlc and in the downloaded tab) Any suggestions?

Edit : I've managed to add the DA updater to the services list (the updater files could be found in the redist folder not the binship ) and i've set the updater to automatic but to no availe, still unautherized.

If you are running ultimate edition you may need to use the beta 1.05 patch, but read up on it to understand what it's issues are as well, ie long load times as it progresses. Heck for that matter even standard edition can use the beta.

You will need to switch to the origins edition to use it, and there are manual fixes for everything the patch does. What he needs to do is make a complete problem report with everything he has tried and the results so that someone can help him trouble shoot the issue.
