Funny Joseph Merrick died a virgin....would you have bumped uglies with him.

He had a nice personaility by all accounts, and was a perfect gentleman.

You admit you'd hump Joseph Merrick, I'll admit we guys are all shallow.

You know what i like that guy! He actuly make himself a quarian face that he will be able to edit over any quarian face that bioware will come up with! thumb up for the initiative :D

She, but yes. That's the beauty of learning 3-d modeling. You can take 'fanart' inside the game and make it functional. It's not all that hard to learn either, and you can get some great 3-d software for free. If anyone is interested, I can point you around to some places.

I think the quarian face concept is largely good as is, but the nostrils on the upper surface of the nose bother me somewhat. I don't object to four nostrils, but having them on the upper surface of the nose would mean that they would be open to intrusion from rain. Generally nostrils are not oriented toward the sky for that reason. The head crest is another area that could be revisited, it does seem a bit reminiscent of asari and turians to me, though that may not necessarily be a bad thing. I don't imagine that quarians have hair like humans and other Earth species, but they could have some sort of intermediate structure between hair and fingernail material growing on the scalp. Perhaps "noodle"-like soft filaments, flat and semi-rigid, that grow and can be cut, shaped, and painted in various ways. It shouldn't look too porcupine-like, but it could be cool, especially if the scalp had some movement that could cause the flattened spines to ripple in some way in response to the quarian's emotions or somesuch. That's my take, anyway.

I also think there needs to be some sort of approach to the mouth area to make it look more alien. Perhaps the lips are not really lips? Perhaps there is some sort of texture change on the bottom half of the face? I'd also really like to see how quarian skin coloration would be applied, whether they have an all-over solid color like humans and asari, or a variegated skin color pattern like salarians. That will greatly influence the overall effect of the digital model.

I don't know that anyone is still interested in this, but since I saw this thread it's gotten me back on my little quarian project. I've totally re-done Kal's mesh from scratch and am working on his sculpt right now. Maybe I will even give him a proper texture job this time. Here's a an in-progress pic of his new model:

I'm also doodling some ideas for a female right now. I didn't initially intend to make a female version, though, so it may be awhile before I come up with something I'm reasonably happy with...

The dude made a refrence to a "head crab" from the Half Life Series of games.

Saying if "tali took off her helmet and he saw a head crab, he'd do what gordon freeman did to headcrabs"

Tali -happens- to be a female, yet you in your misandry decided it was a misoginist attack against women.. instead of an attack on crab looking parasites.

It was attack anything that looked like a head crab, regardless of gender. The ones who brought up the gender argument were the females... misandry much?

What we really have here though is "regardless of all the other qualities Tali possesses, if she turns out to have an ugly face, it's over". Rather shallow, I think. I'd like to think that we women are valued for more than our faces and bodies.

so..you're saing if you had the body of a horse, I should be equally attracted to you?:sick:

Phsicla apperance is a key factor of attraction.

It's good but I don't like it and I'm positive Tali has a nose anyway.

I'm tired of bald aliens and head tentacles. Give me a head of luxurious, silky-hair!

 I like it a lot!
My only complaint is that we can see that quarian noses are a bit more pointy than those ones.

Even without awkward screenshots - in some of the dialog cut scenes you can make out a silhouette of Tali's nose. :C

Awesome.

I was expecting to click on this thread only to see more fanart that portrays the Quarians as space elves, but this is original and actually takes into account known Quarian features. (the slanted eyes, smaller ears)

While I support the effort made, and the results are most pleasing. I do believe Casey Hudson said his team and he had already decided all of this, so that chapter is now closed.

Well not really to my liking but well done. We already have a base idea from what little can be seen in game at certain angles and lighing that they have a very human shaped face. Tali has a very human nose, not a flat animal like one. They also appear to have bio-illuminated eyes and you can even get an impression of their skin texture, which reminds me of the texutre on Liara's tenticules.

You're missing the point; I don't care what the quarians actually end up looking like, this is me, a hobbyist, getting practice that may one day make me a pro. Since my work was brought here by someone else from my DA account who liked it enough to share, I decided I'd make the effort to actually finish the project.

Really? One of my best friends (and fellow amatuer game-creator) is from the Netherlands. I seem to meet a lot of people online from there. Also, sorry I got a little defensive at first about you posting my art. I'm rather used to remaining anonymous and not having a big audience.

I seriously doubt that Bioware will ever use anything close to these designs for the sake of the copyright infringement-like nonsense that accompany things like this
.
Besides this far into development I'm pretty sure their Quarian designs are in the final stages.
And if what's going on at Comic-Con with femShepard is any indication, then there's a small chance that Bioware will probably have poll for Tali.

I'm pretty sure this has been seen, but it's my favorite. Though, from what I could see through her helmet in ME1, the concepts on this thread are probably more truthful.

Best picture. I hope they end up doing something like that. I know it looks way too human, but hell...

I personally don't like the OP's design for two things. The piercings as there are for looks, so it contradicts the Quarian's need to preserve resources etc, and because they aren't pigs who actually need it. The other reason is due to the horns and because the faces generally remind me of an orc/elf hybrid - which not what I want to see every time I see a Quarian face.

Sorry, for the harsh way that it came across, but I couldn't think of any other way to say it.

i think the op's attempt is a great start! i just think that in general the design should reflect what we know about them - they evoke elf, faun and snake, they have two eyes, a nose, boobs - and our imagination makes them exotic and also hot. and i imagine the armor is meant to be an reflection/extension of their appearance.
