I think you should get rid of those 3 rings and those 4 horns, and put an image without them, because it looks a bit odd, quarians have problems with their immunity system and I don't think it's a good ideea to put those rings that can get infected easily, but in rest I like the design.

I like the concept OP! Great work on it! Hopefully if Bioware decides to reveal quarian faces they take something like this as a base to work with.

Also I forgot to mention that they must have a soft skin due to their immunity problems, also having horns on the body could penetrate their suit and I don't think we want that :D

Aww, I was expecting to get trolled- I didn't expect something that was actually interesting.

The whole scalp thing is WAY too similar to Asari though. I really hope Bioware would do something different there. Maybe have hair under the scalp in a way similar to the un-broken Draenei of Warcraft, at least to separate the design more.

Random four nostrils are random, though.

You do know that every race is somehow similar with asari, so it fits. Have you heard the batchelor party chat they had on Illium? They all say that Asari reminds them of their race.

I hope Bioware rolls with this. :)
Looks great!

...The thing is thou, when there has been public contest (I mean where fans can make their own design and then the company uses it) of some design, usualy it ends up in lawsuits after using it in the product.

I have not personally seen it but I'm sure some one will have somewhere, Quarian is an anagram of A Qunari, so.....

Image IPB

Must have collapseable horns or something.

Updated Kal'Reegar off artist's page

updated, thank you.

personly i do not like the ring, but i do like the eyes a lot and it would be great if all quarions have a uniek forhead symbol on there head.

Dunno, kinda makes no sense that a species who spends most of their lives covering their faces and bodies would have any kind of marking on their bodies, be they tattoos, piercings or whathaveyou.
Whatever Quarians look like, I think they should look completely "plain", i.e. with what nature gave them. What's the point in modifying your appearance if no one is going to see it?

Oh, and speaking of "going natural", I'm against hair. Quarians would have to have the worst case of helmet hair ever and it would make no sense for a species with extremely limited resources, to waste precious water and soap on maintaining their hair and keeping away lice under these tough conditions, especially since no one is going to see their hair anyways. And it's not like they could simply scratch their hair when they develop an itch either.

In my opinion, Quarians need to be bald, whether by razor or by genetics. Everything else would be horrendously impractical.

Very talented artist, though. Although it would be too alien for me to 'mance.

I think they should have very pale/white skin, though. They've spent enough time in enviro-suits for their entire immune system to collapse, I think skin pigmentation would probably have followed suit. I mean, with no exposure to radiation or sunlight, there's no need for it.

More like translucent skin, like a Jellyfish, whilst probably accurate would not be aesthetically pleasing, IMO.

Wasn't there some sort of interview with BW Artist mentioning something about the fullness of Tali's
helmet drape to give the impression of possible longer hair in ME2 (as compared to ME1), personally I'd prefer hair on at least one other race in Mass Effect and I'd agree totally that the Quarians wouldn't have any horns or body piercings

Look too much like a cross of Asari and Drell to me. And we can see in ME1 that Tali has a more human looking nose.

OP you should make sure you copyright these, at least get your fair pay off bioware if they decide to use it!

I also am in the hair camp, but otherwise I take my hat off to you, awesome work!

That 3D render is interesting as a starting point, but I'd probably give the Quarians a cleaner look and a sort of egg shaped head, something like in this quick concept I whipped up:

Image IPB

The males (left) would have slightly rougher features and a longer nose, while the females (right) would have an overall smoother appearance. Some light cybernetic implants - immunity boosters and whatnot - are a possibility, like in the second row, but nothing too intrusive. The skin color would be predominantly grey, with the possibility of the slightest, barely noticable tints towards purple, pink, blue or yellow. Thoughts?

Really nice work.

The quarian female masks are much flatter than the males, I always figured that meant the males had a bit more a 'muzzle' or a different shape to the head? There's gotta be some anatomical reason for that difference.

Personally I'd love to see something a little bit more alien, but that's unlikely given the number of people who romanced Tali and might freak out if she turned out to be totally weird!

The nose doesn't match what we can see through the helmet.

Although I appreciate your effort and do think you've got great creative skills, I really don't like this look for Quarians.
