I highly doubt they made her face look human from what we can see, as well as confirming that they look very human in the novels only to make them look completely different in ME3. It would need to be a retcon.

Personal opinion about Bioware's motives for her placeholder doesn't change the fact that it is, indeed, a placeholder and would not be regarded as 'the real thing' by any professional. As for looking very human, that's a matter of semantics. What is human? Two eyes? A nose? A mouth? Ears? These are the key human features, and my model has them all. Even turians have the major human elements. Things like hanar would be what I consider to be not human.

According to the novels (mainly ascension) they resemble humans. As well it has already been confirmed that they indeed do have two eyes and a nose. Which is what apparently makes them resemble humans. Your version does not fit that.
By your logic, Batarians would be considered very human looking which isnt true at all, nor is it implied in any of the novels. It is only said about Quarians (and Asari)

If I ever get mass effect 3 (likely when its bargin bin/pre owned and I have a job) and tali reminds me of that im going to have shep kill her with a crowbar.

Attitudes like that are why I made my male quarians in the first place. Women don't have to be "beautiful" to be of value, and not being beautiful certainly does not make one worthy of being bludgeoned to death with a crowbar.

My quarians are weak, pale, and covered in technological devices that they need just to get around. They inject themselves with antibiotics and others drugs routinely and have veins like those of an addict's because of it. They are sick, and pitiful, and they still go and fight what most people would consider a losing battle. THAT is what makes them beautiful.

For me it is the delicate movements, voices, and eyes. It spurs my protective instincts. Very primitive.

What looks human and what doesn't is a matter of opinion, you are stating opinion as fact, and that's what makes your 'argument' a non-argument. And yes, they do have two eyes and a nose in my version. They just don't have a bridge in their nose.

I never said they did. If it makes you feel any better the artists tried to make miranda beautiful and I dont value her at all...
So are the drell but I wouldnt be calling them beatiful.

Which, according to the novels (and the place holder), they have. They also have human-shaped lips. Again, I highly doubt they would design Tali to look human, as well as using human skeletons as quarian place holders, then say they closely resemble humans only to change that.
As for 'my opinion' of that not lookign very human, that may be true, but I highly doubt anyone here would mistake a human for that, which is something Paul Grayson nearly did (until he noticed the three fingers/toes) when he saw a tortured quarian..

@Quole honestly, do you think Bioware is above retconning the novels and the codex? Especially after the ugly-ass elves in DA2...

They probably arent, sadly. Actually I was going to reference what they did to the elves. My point however, is that it would BE a retcon.

You're right, what you actually said is that if a woman reminds you of something unpleasant, you'd beat her to death with a crowbar.

You know what? I have the be-all-end-all of this debate: I'm the artist and you're not. I get to call the shots on my work and you don't. You're perfectly free to create your own interpretation and I encourage you to do so if mine bothers you so much. As mentioned before, it was that being bothered that motivated me to make mine in the first place, and I rather like them despite what you and others think.

Particularly not when you're speaking to a woman.

Well I assumed the crowbar thing would be obcious becuase of the joke about the quarians "hair" looking like a headcrab. Obviosuy I was wrong, so to avoid digging a deeper hole, im just going to apologise for any offense caused and leave this conversation.

Touchy issue I take it. However a sense of humor and thick skin would benefit everybody.

I'm not really that upset, I'm just making a point that maybe you should be more careful with your words and more conscientious of your audience. It's not just you either, it's society and games in general, which is why I am working very hard to gain the skills to go into that field. I'm fine you with you not liking my design - to be honest I'm sure the Bioware art team is having a riot at the water cooler over them.

That's okay, though. It started as a farce so that's fitting.

For what it's worth Remmak, I totally understand where you're coming from. A lot of these boys seem blissfully unaware of the bald-faced misogyny in their so-called "jokes". They deserve to be taught a thing or two. If we women made as many anti-male remarks, you'd better believe the response would be swift and loud. But the disparagement of women seems to be A-OK around here among the younger set, at least.

And I do like the designs you've done, I like that they're not overly pretty in an anime kind of way, as most Tali/quarian fan-designed faces seem to be. Quarians are aliens. They should look alien. I already think that asari resemblance to humans is stretching credibility. Asari and humans almost HAVE to be related species, given the remarkable similarities between them.

The dude made a refrence to a "head crab" from the Half Life Series of games.

Saying if "tali took off her helmet and he saw a head crab, he'd do what gordon freeman did to headcrabs"

Tali -happens- to be a female, yet you in your misandry decided it was a misoginist attack against women.. instead of an attack on crab looking parasites.

It was attack anything that looked like a head crab, regardless of gender. The ones who brought up the gender argument were the females... misandry much?

Maybe rem hasn't played half life...

A head crab is a parasite that attaches to a host and takes over their body, and then proceeds to try to attack you.
Crowbars are good against headcrabs..

prehaps you get the joke .....now

What we really have here though is "regardless of all the other qualities Tali possesses, if she turns out to have an ugly face, it's over". Rather shallow, I think. I'd like to think that we women are valued for more than our faces and bodies.

Um... we sometimes like to lie you that... we sometimes like to lie ourselves that...
But in the end, looks are a major aspect of how a woman ( or man) is seen.
Great personality can shadow looks, but generally speaking, a man is looking for good looks and good personality.

He might take a **** if she's super hot, but a guy won't really favor or consider a potential girlfriend a decent girl if
she doesn't have some looks.

Don't call me a misogin ( or do, if you wish), but that's the truth. It's not opinion, it's fact, approved for 2000 years from history.

Ditto. The issue is the sentiment behind that post, not the headcrab/crowbar thing itself. And yes, I have played Half-Life. Perhaps my dislike of the violence suggested in that post would be better understood if you knew that both my sister and myself were abused as children and my sister committed suicide when I was in highschool because she couldn't cope with it. It's not an attack on men, but me expressing a desire that people not make such casual remarks about the value and dehumanizing of women. That is all.

Now. I'd really like this to go back to the quarians because I don't want a post about my art locked. Now that it's here, I'm curious to have more input and opinions.

It's good but I don't like it and I'm positive Tali has a nose anyway.

I'm tired of bald aliens and head tentacles. Give me a head of luxurious, silky-hair!

Agreed.
