I'm having problems trying to play Throne of Bhaal when I install the game. I did not have any problems installing. Shadows of Amn, apart from a saving game problem that I managed to sort out and the fact that I have to load some saved games in order to be able to talk to some character, seems to work fine. It also seems to detect the Throne of Bhaal disc and autoplay when I put the disc in. However, when I go to the title screen and select 'Throne of Bhaal', it tells me 'No Disc in Drive. Place Expansion Disc in Drive', even when I have the expansion disc in. I am running the game on Windows 7. Any help would be much appreciated, as it was a series that I much enjoyed playing when I was young. Thank you! Posted Image

By any chance, is your DVD drive at D:? Did you do a full install of both games?

The problem might be with the path of the disc when the game tries to locate it. If your drive is not at D:, I suppose it's all about changing the target path of the game via one of the files (baldur.ini, I suppose).

I could try that, I guess....although Drive D is the Recovery Drive and the location of the game file is in Drive C. So if I put it on Drive D, that might change it? I dunno.

Win7 DOESN'T like you to install programs into the c:\\programs... & yes we know!

Okay, I tried changing the baldur.ini file to Drive D and that doesn't seem to do the trick. :( I did do a full install of both games. Should I have done a different install or something?

You'll need to plave the game files in the drive as the game itself that means drive C:

You'll need to un-install the game totally - and then please do this:

When prompted where to install the game, do not install the game into C:/...../Baldur's Gate....
Please install the game in C:/Games/ not C:/Programs..... You can also explore the disc and find the bgmain.exe file, right-click on it and select - run as administrator -

To explore the disc, please do this:
After inserting the disc in the drive, please close the box that comes up. Then lift-clik the computer icon in your computer icon, then rightclick the C.drive (you should see the BG: icon), then click open. Then find the bgmain.exe, rightclick this, and please choose the 'run ad admin' option.

Hope this helps :)

Okay, I'll try that once I manage to uninstall the thing (Windows won't let me for some reason). Thanks for your help!

In Windows XP, there's a add/remove feature? Is this in Windows 7 at all? Sometimes, I've found the only way to remove games is through this feature.

Is it the ToB disc that won't install? If so you can try doing what I suggested above, and and running the install directly from the disc....

To be honest, I don't know. I tried the Add/Remove feature as well but apparently 'the specified module could not be found' (I even deleted my Black Isle folder, which didn't get rid of the actual BG II programme and I tried to uninstall it after getting rid of my Black Isle folder but that didn't work either...). I tried to move the BG2 file to my C drive earlier and that could have done something. :(

Then let's try a clean uninstall. First, uninstall the game completely and delete all the folders. Then check out this link and follow the instructions. This works for me. BG2 does not uninstall properly in Win7 Ultimate for me so I delete the registry keys everytime.

How to Manually Uninstall BG2

After doing that, install both games using a Full installation and the directions the others said above me. Contrary to what they say, BG2 works perfectly fine for me inside the Program Files folder, but this seems to be a prevalent case among many Win7 users so make your own folder inside your main drive instead and install BG2 there.
