*warning: some minor spoilers although I've tried to limit them the best I can*

Seeing as how in DAO and in DA2 we had the ability to allow some of the more important characters die, I was thinking that hopefully in either DA3 or some upcoming DLC for DA2, that we will have the ability to kill off some other characters.

The death of a particular character in DA2 gave me a rare sense of jubilation that I can only describe as being akin to the sense of joy one receives from winning the lottery, or when they become grand ruler of the universe.  It gave me the best feeling I could possibly imagine, and yet it came in an otherwise disappointing game.  The only bad part was that the death wasn't violent and painful enough for a character that had evoked so much inner rage in me (the rage was for the wrong reasons, but this isn't the point).

Now it may seem a little sadistic, but it certainly wouldn't be modern and "mature" videogaming if it didn't include some sweet gory deaths and the sense of enjoyment we all secretly get out of them.

For me personally, I would LOVE it if I could kill off the following (in preferably the most horrid, violent and painful way possible):

  • Hawke:  Honestly, killing him/her would give me a sense of unbridled joy that few could possibly imagine.  If this happend at either the beginning of DA3, or in a DLC (before the character does too much) I think I would actually make a mess of my pants and cry tears of joy.  The knowledge of the finality of his death and the idea that we would never see him again would make me a very very happy person.
  • Fenris:  I would love to take his ridiculously oversized sword and impale him on it.  Hopefully he will whine and moan one last time for old time's sake before I have the ability to remove him from his senses.  I won't miss his tight pants and moaning nature, but I will miss the joy I get from his death.
  • Merrill:  Ahh Merrill.  I know a lot of people find her "cute" but me, well, I thought she was just awful.  She might make some of you "squee" in delight at her, but the only way she'll ever make me squee is if I see her head rolling along the beige steps of Kirkwall.

Now, if these deaths do occur, I'm hoping that Bioware won't ignore them and won't resurrect these characters because well, that would be bad storytelling.

What are your thoughts?  Any character you'd like to see killed off in DA?

The Grey Warden -- a once interesting character, yet the Warden's story is over. Officially killing the character would finally allow people hung up on the past to just give it up and move on.

With the Warden dead, DA2 DLC and DA3 could focus on more interesting characters.

You can kill Fenris! My pro templar character would have liked to slice Merrils throat for the Dalish after her obsession led to the destruction of the Keeper.

I think we are stuck with Hawke but I would like for Hawke to perish.

We already had that option really.  I know it wasn't "official" but continuing that story doesn't look likely going by all the hints we're getting from Bioware, so I don't think it's a concern.

While I really like my Warden's, some of them are dead, and the others, well I'm actually happy that their story is finished.  There was a great sense of finality that I received at the end of DAO and DAA.

I do think it's now time to end Hawke's story though, hopefully I can kill him off in the most violent way possible.

Oh.... Brilliant!

SQUEEE!!!

Hopefully this means that Bioware won't risk trying to put Fenris in DA3.

You certainly wouldn't want any plot holes, and keeping him in DA3 would make it very hard to design a game in a short development cycle, so leaving him out of the next game altogether is probably the best option.  Posted Image

Dude, that would only cause a lot of players to feel more nostalgic than ever.  The problem is that a number of us feel that the Warden's story wasn't ended, and just want some closure.  And not the type that just killing the character would provide.

OP, I agree with all of your suggestions. Hawke is obnoxious, Merril is just plain irritating and childlike, and Fenris just won't shut the hell up about mages (hurdurhur funny thing is you won't shut up about DA2 either alex, hurhurhur). I actually hate the cast of companions for DA2, the only cool ones really are Aveline, Varric and ... Sebastian.

I absolutely agree!

Varric + Aveline = Win

Sebastian, well I can't comment because I don't have him in my game.

Everyone else = Fail.

Hawke = Uber Fail.

Varric and Aveline are awesome. I think Aveline is my favorite Bioware character in a long time and she is way hotter than Isabella too.

I'm with the OP, altough, I would have wanted to kill Isabela too.. And Leliana. again, I will seriously buy DA3, no matter if it sucks, if I can kill her.

I wouldn't have wanted to kill Aveline, but I would have wanted to strip her off the position of captain of the guard because she was incompetent and unsuitable for that position, but apparently everyone in the game was so bloody stupid they didn't notice it.

It was only with grudging acceptance that I sexed up the smelly pirate hooker after Aveline turned me down.  Ahh well, the unrequited romance was actually quite well done, and unlike most of the game, wasn't cliche.

I also didn't want my single playthrough to go without the "romance" experience.  Unfortunately that romance was terrible, but I'm glad I didn't go the paedophile option.

But some of us feel that it has. In fact, with my very living Warden, I thought DA:O ended the story quite well.

But then we had DA:A, and Bioware essentially saying I could take my world-state and shove it, or I could destroy every character of every single Warden and force him and her to I <3 Grey Wardens + Ferelden.

I really want Bioware to stop destroying my characters. BG II was bad, but that was so long before we expected reactivity it didn't bother me that much.

Hawke = Failure To be Human's personality(he's either goodie-two-shoes, completely-lame joker, sadistic-very moody person).

Merrill = Tali wannabe, adorable but rather annoying to a certain situation as ways she behave similar to new-born baby its failure attempt to make character looks innocent and cute, other than that...she is also stupid(Blood magic).

Fenris = Emo elf, his appreance very resemble a stereotype character from JRPG game(skinny guy, oversized sword, little overpowered), usually complain about the mages, and his past life non-stop but more reasonable than someone, beside he's cool If you earn enough Friendship/Rival.

Anders = Emo mage, lost his funny/good side after accept Justice in, even though idealistic/revolutionary, he take mage vs templar things very seriously, doesn't even care about you(romace him, you'll know what I mean), double cross you near the very end. (I didn't let him off the hooks for the sake of Awakening's Anders, and good old time).

Hell I would kill them If possible(especially Hawke), even though I feel like keeping everyone's alive until the end:pinched:I'd like the rest though(Isabela least but she still better than these characters, anyway it was just my opinion.

I agree. My most wanted feature for DA3 is that they let us kill Hawke ^_^ If they allow us to import our warden and kill the ¿champion? they would got me aboard again xD

I'm kidding, of course. I want a good game, over all those details. But since I really dislike Hawke, being able to kill her would be a great detail ;)

Hawke - Because killing off mediocrity never felt so good!

Morrigan - Yes, we get it. You're witty and acerbic and dark. That's NEVER been done before.

Fenris - Emo douche with a giant sword.

Sandal - Yup, I hate that little freak. You should be able to feed him to a Mabari.

Oh I agree that Origins wrapped things up quite nicely.  I was genuinly happy with that ending.  It was Awakening and Witch Hunt that left me feeling that the Warden's story was unresolved.

Probably the best solution would be to have some side game, relativly small, where players could play either as their warden or a new one, and tie up the last loose ends with a story that has no real impact on the greater Dragon Age franchise, but allows the player to get a more personal closure.  Something where the major plot points don't change, so players don't have to play it to avoid missing something, and your desicions only affect you on a personal level.

Make sense, or am I just rambling?

I want to be able to kill Sebastian and Leliana. Especially the latter, who went from being one of the most benevolent Chantry sisters to being a member of the Chantry black ops.

Hawke should die at the very start of DA3 as the whole point of finding him is to avert all out war (for some reason?) and I think bioware are going to focus DA3 on the mage - templar war so Hawke will become pointless.

On another point, imo Bioware should have made a second and final expansion pack for origins were the warden dies, that way at least everyones warden gets a sense of closure rather than hoping that we will get to play as them in another game, which isnt gonna happen

There's a choice at the end with Sebastian where if you go a specific way he says he'll be back with an army. It'd be cool to be able to square off against him and take him to task.
