Would love Hawke as Companion - as long as we get to kill him.

But as satisfying as it may sound, that means you still have to deal with his stupid beard and voice at the beginning of the game, and maybe do some side quests for him (probably in the DA2 Cave) before you can get rid of him.

Personally I would prefer to see Hawke only as an Easter egg in DA3, for example you could come across his body half eaten by bears in the middle of a forest.

That would work if we got to see in a flashback his gruesome death.

I'd prefer a new protagonist, a new protagonist, a new protagonist.

Meanwhile, the Warden would be doing their job (or be dead), not interfering in political matters. And Hawke would be in hiding, perhaps.

No, that wouldn't work. See Hawke would be walking along, about ten bears would parachute down and he'd just use whirlwind to insta-kill them. About six more waves would come and he'd just hack them to pieces (while screaming BUTTON AWESOME).

I think something more fitting would be that as Hawke walks along, a generic assassin just backstabs him and kills him in one go. Then Hawke slumps down, his body drops in to the ground and turns in to a mound of coins and a bag next to it. Generic assassin clicks on it and receives 6 silver and torn trousers.

I don't think either of the should be playable in the next game. Although It would make a lot more sense for Hawke to show up then the Warden. I acutally prefer Hawke to the the Warden, although that does not seem to be a majority opionion here. But just like others have said DA isn't about the Warden or Hawke its about Thedas. I would personally like to see DA3 set somewhere a little farther away from Ferelden and the Free Marches. Teventer perhaps? Although I have a feeling it will more than likely take place in Orlais since thats where Sandal is heading to

Neither Hawke nor the Warden should ever be NPCs, because the game will never play them the way you played yours.

My god I don't care much for Hawke either, but the hate here is just on Sith levels give the guy a chance the rise to power idea wasn't bad just horribly executed atleast they broke away from the ME parallel.

I don't quite see the Wardens' interest in the Circle/Chantry conflict.

its simple in fact, because the chantry has lost significantly power orlais is in turnmoil and because of the many uprising, assasinations and so on, there´s som many noble men that want to retake ferelden once again and The hero of ferelden is a native and will probably do everything he/she can in order to protect ferelden even if it means going against the duty as a grey warden

^ No, not what my warden would do, he wouldn't care about Mage/templar thing nor Ferelden anymore. He cares about protecting Morrigan & OGB & furthering her plan. He did his thing, now he has far more important business going on than protecting Ferelden or his duty as a Grey Warden.

If we play the Warden again and Hawke comes back as a companion, I swear I will make sure he never leaves camp.

This.
Even if I would need Hawke for final battle, I won't waste an ounce of time on Hawke. Unless of course I'm forced to.

Exactly how I feel about the Warden. The only way I would feel happy about playing the Warden again is if she could rebel against the order for kidnapping her.

ETA: I want a new protagonist for DA3.

If Hawke was a party NPC, it would lead to the most dull romance ever in a video game. Hawke deffinitely doesn't come across as much of a leader, he/she is deffinitely a follower and doesn't capture any sort of fascination for me unless the character is intensively worked on and developed, which would just tick off people because Hawke isn't as snarky, chivalrous or mean spirited as "their" Hawke. But I really wouldn't want Hawke in a party unless I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really needed a tank or whatever class to balance a party.

If Hawke appears in DA3, it will be as the PC.

You could ask the question the other way. The warden as a companion to Hawke. I personally want neither. I want a new protagonist with information coming from DAO and DA2 as background story.

I would like a quest where I get to dismember Hawke and burry his remains across all of Thedas. And then have Isabella return the pieces to various random NPC's for a few silver coins.

If Hawke is in the next "Dragon Age", (cameo, companion, etc...), I WILL NOT BUY THE NEXT GAME.

Period.

That is a retarded policy and you should feel bad for having it. I can understand protag, maybe even companion, but cameo, really?

The Warden isn't coming back... at least I hope not. Seems to me that the Warden's story has been told, and DA will continue without any appearances from her/him. In fact, I'd wager that they kill off the Warden at some point in DA3, but that's just the pessimist in me talking. Let's hope that isn't the case.

But yeah, Hawke is here to stay it seems... I think the folks at Bioware have read more than enough forum complaints to make a few adjustments to Hawke's character, so we'll have a more interactive experience next time around. Well, I hope so, but maybe that's just the optimist in me talking...

I'd actually like a new protagonist set in the Tevinter Imperium.

We get a better look at the Imperial Chantry (which seems much more chill than all the others); we can expose the Chantry of Andraste's political maneuvers in more light (the entire making a pact with the Qunari) and we'd get to see legitimate misuse of magic, as opposed to reasonable people doing completely insane things.

You haven't bought or even played DA2 from what I gather so how can you say that?

I hope there is an option to play Hawke, the Warden or an entirely new character. Probably won't happen but I can dream.

I'm not in favor of the Warden's Return, but if they dare killing my Mahariel / Surana / Tabris / Cousland without my saying so, I'll be very, very displeased, especially if it happens off screen.

I don't get why people seem to think Hawke will be back for DA3. I have seen no indication of this anywhere. A brand new protagonist is more likely, IMO.

@Sutekh... yeah, I'm just guessing really. There might be a new protagonist for DA3, but I assumed they were following the Mass Effect formula and trying to create a medieval Shepard. We'll see.

They actually have hinted on more than one occassion that they wanted Hawke as the protagionist again in DA3. Thankfully, if they're not lieing to us, and they HAVE learned from their mistake (Which of me still doubts) that will not happen, at least not for the whole game.

Hawke will appear in the game or be referenced, with the Warden, to the storyline the both of them and a third hero are tied into regarding their connection to Flemeth.

That is at least, by the Maker, what I am hoping.
