Yes I did, it was the only playthrough that made any sense, and it just reinforces the fact that Hawke is a big douche.  Hawke smirking her way through life while Kirkwall burns around her-  I'm supposed to like that protagonist?  Not any more than I liked b*tch Hawke or boring, stale goody-two-shoes.

Eh I am not even a big fan of sarcastic people IRL (not that I am not sarcastic myself sometimes) but not really a characteristic I like to see in people in general so I am not a fan of sarcastic video game characters.

I would prefer the Warden any day to Hawke. Honestly.

But the sequel will have Hawke in it, I can almost guarantee that. They will push forward the 'agenda' they have for this game and its 'vision'. You see, you just don't understand the game as they do. >.>

It doesn't matter if he was the most unpopular character ever, he'll be reused. And it sucks.

Then maybe you should try role-playing a character you like. You create your character, if you don't like him/her you're doing something wrong.

OT: I hope and think the warden's story is over, especially since in some games he's dead.

I think if Addai has played "b*tch Hawke or boring, stale goody-two-shoes" then she's pretty much roleplayed all that's available. Hardly our fault if Hawke just comes across as a bellend with all of the dialogue options, and when we try to roleplay a reason for him/her being there it doesn't work either since Kirkwall is an absolute sh*thole.

You shouldn't lecture anyone about roleplaying with signature like "ME2>ME".
Sorry, someone had to tell you the truth. So here I am.

Look at the direction the story is headed in the focus has shifted from fighting darkspawn to the politics of Thedas.  The sole purpose of the Grey Wardens is to fight darkspawn, yes our warden was doing more than just fighting darkspawn but everything he did was connected back to his fight against darkspawn.  By not playing as the warden the possibilites and potential for storytelling open up.  I loved playing as the warden (still do since I am in the middle of DAO playthrough as I am typing this) but it is time to move on.  Whether or not the protaginist in DA 3 is Hawke it doesn't matter me but the it is time for the warden to retire.

So because someone prefers ME2 to ME 1 you think their opinion is invalid now?  Sorry but that makes no sense.  I guess you think my opinion is invalid as well because I have a collector as my avatar.    Besides this discussion is about Dragon Age.

Exactly.  You can only do so much.  Yes, sure, I could re-work the entire game story and character back story to make it more to my liking.  I've heard people say they like the character more in fanfiction than in the game.  As Hawke is presented, she can only be a major tool.  I have no incentive to work that hard to like her.

The reason I like ME2 better than ME has nothing to do with the RPG elements  in ME its because I didn't like the places as much, Virmire is the only Mission I really like, and all the side missions are the same place re-used.
I missed the RPG elements from ME2 but overall it was a much more fun experience.

^Uhu. Huge mistake on BioWare's part if they make what was made up to be the biggest decision of DAO have no affect on coming games. In my mind OGB should exist, one way or another, as it's the only entity in Thedas powerful enough to have the kind of impact on the storyline that an epic series finale warrants.

too bad tho for u hawkes haters...the majority of the DA players base are with DA2 even tho DA:O as a story and rpg depth is so much better it sold less than DA2.We are in 2012 almost ...a silent character wont do,only the hardcores fans would want that wich are the lesser install player base (true story)The warden might appear with a helmet or something but dont expect him/her to be back as a playable character, hawke has more chance to be the protagonist OR companion in DA3.Beside didnt bioware told that they wanted to make hawke a shepard wannabe for future DA games? Sry but sadly for u hardcores fans, hawke has more popularity than the warden...a dedicate forum with mostly hardcore fans from DA:O saying and posting 100 posts and showing they hatred towards hawke wont change the fact that hawke is more likable from the majority of players (casuals =$$$---->hardcores,wich is what counts in the end ) like it or not this is how things are...hawke is here to stay.

The Devs have already said that Hawke isn't going to be our character in the next game. Odds are they realised the negative blowback the game got and didn't want to hurt sales by having a character that is largely devisive as the lead again.

As for our Warden coming back that I would love, especially if we can play him/her again.

Bringing back the warden is possible, dead or no. Flemeth I would wager, has that kind of power. The big problems are: the new engine, new elf design, and voice overs.

Not to mention the explosion of whinging. My warden didn't sound like that, mywarden didn't look like that ect ect.

And no the OGB should be a NPC never protagonist.

I can't say one solid example breaks that point.

Hawke is one of the those rare Characters that fell short and sadly garners alot of hatred because of bad Decsions and poor Writing by Bioware.

If Bioware would have implimented Hawke better into the Story and gave us players more choice and the ability to make an impact like you could do with the Warden things would have been alot diffrent I think.

I have defended Hawke against alot of Hawke Haters by telling them that Hawke was not the D*** problem it was Bioware screwed up see instead of giving Hawke the cherished Protagnist/Hero Treatment no Hawke got the Companion/Follower Treatment he observed the Events of Dragon Age 2.

And we was not given the Ability to make an Impact like we were able to in Origins which once againis why I say to all of the Haters don't hate Hawke hate Bioware for creating a great Character and Assassinating it with bad choices and poor implimentation.

Because the Sad reality is that in Origins The Warden was the most important Character in the whole Game where as in Dragon Age 2 that Position falls to Anders & Meredith not Hawke who it should have been.

As to the Protagnist for Dragon Age 3 I say Hawke or a New Protagnist I don't want the Warden back this game most likely will be centered around the Mage/Templar Wars and no matter what all those Warden fans think Greywardens won't be relevant to the War.

This point is very weak on its own so it doesn't take much to break it.

Look at a list of upcoming games and compare the number of games with voiced protaganists compared to silent ones. Then look at a list of games from before 2000 with silent protaganist compared to voiced ones. Draw your own conclusions.

Thats not a very good argument. because it isnt about following the trend of today using voiced protagonists. I see it as what games warrent voiced VA's and which ones dont. DA is a series where i dont think does, mainly because of player choice, or ones such as the zelda series that doesnt use any voices.  To me voiced shouldnt be based on trends or because it sounds like making a game for the 80s or 90s

It doesn´t matter really if the character is voiced or not, but however they shouldn´t however not let the warden return because of it.

It is not that complicated to switch back to silent although the voiced thing is very advanced.

I don't care what examples people give; as much as I enjoyed DA:O, I will take a voice protagonist over a silent one hands down any day.
