Anyone have any tips for getting a creature to stand on top of a placeable? In this particular case, it's a fountain where I want to set a statue. I've tried setting the fountain to static, setting it to stackable, and creating a walkmesh helper between the top of the fountain and the creature's feet, but so far every time I load into the game the creature ends up standing off to the side of the fountain.

And yes, I've been baking. :P

Set the fountain to be an environmental object

There are several settings that can be useful to make this happen, and it all depends on what you want to do.

As Kamal already mentioned, you can convert the placeable to be an environmental object, which makes the game engine ignore it as far as pathing and the walkmesh is concerned.

The only issue with this is that environmental objects can be walked through, which could end up looking odd for players as they pass through the fountain.  If you use a walkmesh cutter trigger around the base of the fountain, you will need to make sure that your area bakes correctly when you place the walkmesh helper in the center.

A better way to do this would be to mark the placeable in its properties with the following:
  • x - Plot
  • x - Walakable
  • x - Dynamic collisions
Unchecking "static" and "Useable" will then make a placeable that doesn't affect the walkmesh.  The walkmesh helper then will bake correctly and your fountain will block movement to the statue.

I would also suggest that you download and read the Toolset Notes, which is a very detailed manual for the toolset and building.  It's very helpful.

Thanks Mokah, that was the perfect combination of settings I needed! I'll also be sure to look through those notes, there are definitely a lot of things as far as item/creature property flags go that I'm still not 100% on.
