I want to try a run after not playing DAII for months. I am not playing on Nightmare, so FF isn't an issue. I want to play a Mage Hawke focused on Elemental spells. But I'm still lost of the rest of the build. I want to run a Party of Aveline, Fenris (both to double dip on Rally, Aveline to Stagger, Fenris to exploit Brittle), Isabela (RP reasons and just because Varric gets to much love), and Mage Hawke.
I was also considering going 2H on Hawke (dropping Fenris and adding Merril or Anders) as the easy way to manage Double Rally (I can manually activate Rally on Hawke when Aveline's ends) but I have heard 2H was nerfed Hard. Perhaps another WnS Warrior but it might be redundant with Aveline...

Given that:
- Which class would be best for the 2 Rally setup?
- What specs would be best For Hawke given my party? I was thinking given two Rallies, Blood Magic might not be so important for Mage Hawke as Mana will be plentiful. If Warrior Hawke, I would imagine Berserker would be nice with Aveline dropout a Rally on Hawke to boost Stamina.

:/ You lost me at Isabela... that was my ideal party, but you didn't include Varric... ah well...

My advice is to just do whatever seems like fun. I mean, if you aren't playing on Nightmare, you don't need to worry about things getting out of control. I always play on Hard and even though I tend to use the same setups, I don't see any way to build the party incorrectly if you aren't dealing with the huge enemy HP and immunities of Nightmare difficulty. It's kind of hard to screw things up...

But to answer your questions, Reaver/Templar with Fenris and Aveline using Rally works pretty well. Fenris is the primary Rally user, and Aveline Taunts while Hawke uses 2H and Reaver skills... She uses Rally when needed, but her main focus is drawing the attention of enemies and staying alive long enough for everyone else to kill them. The Templar spec is just for rp and fun... it's probably not as good as Berserker, but I still use it. Do whatever you think is best...

As for the second question, regarding mages... the new patch changed the BM spec a lot, so I can't really answer that one. Blood Mage + Force Mage used to work perfectly with the party you described (with Varric instead of Isabela though... I have a soft spot for the dwarf). I just focused on Blood Magic and took enough Force Mage skills to learn Unshakable... the rest went towards Lightning, Heal, Greater Heal, etc... it's not really that complicated as long as you take care of the basics. Blood Magic is used to give you a higher mana pool, and if you're doing this 2 person Rally thing, you should just worry about making sure your party has enough stamina. Hawke will be fine if he uses Blood Magic... if you are low on HP, you can always switch back. I strongly suggest taking Greater Heal because it's vastly superior to simple healing, and you don't really need to sacrifice much as far as skill points go. Greater Heal and potions means you never need to worry about having Anders around... even when you reach the endgame.

The last patch changed things a lot, so I hope this advice is still useful... I refused it, however, so I don't have to deal with the nerfs...

One last thing... when I play, I never use Rally with 2H Hawke... that's Fenris's job. Like I said, my party is Fenris, Aveline, and Varric. I'm sure it's fine if you swap in Isabela, but don't underestimate the power of the Reaver spec. You don't need to use Rally with Hawke, or even learn it... it's better to spend those points on Destroyer/Massacre, or anything else that will increase your killing power... alright, I'm done. Good luck.
