Prothean.

See my avatar? THAT'S a prothean. Might not look like it from that angle, but they are bipedal, much like humans.

And what makes you think that the creature in the picture is not bipedal?? It has legs and arms looks like to me. Also huskified rachni was pictured in the gameinformer issue and has dual cannons on it and is quadrapedal. To me it looks like an insect-like creature. Possibly a husked prothean or just a prothean.

It is a Prothean... There is actual resemblence between your avatar and the alien in that picture, there are tubes coming out of its mouth and it has an extended something on the backside of the neck, like if the Prothean in the pic with Aria would straighten its back.

Their colors differs but from what we see from Ilos they are most likely blue, and in that picture they appear yellowish because of the light.

They both look bipedal.

Deal with it. :police:

Wait until the comic comes out. There have been several threads speculating as to the identity of said creature, but like I said, it is just speculation.

I think definetly it's a Prothean that has been turned into a "Reaper". But i thought the Reapers couldn't turn the Protheans?

Oh my......What a twist!

EDIT: I can't stop thinking it's some kind of a Reaper Avatar or something that is as old as the Reaper themselves. Maybe this is too far fetched but worth a thought at least:

Protheans stand upright, they haven't got that extended head-thingy and they don't have a body-shape like that either. Otherwise, yes, I can see the resemblance.

I'd personally be more inclined to believe that the Invasion-cover-creature is actually an original Reaper, as in a member of the species who first invented all mass effect technology and then transcended into their Reaper-ship forms.

Cerberus cloned a bunch of rachni, though. And they're behind the attack on Omega.

Yes, i believe too they are the original Reapers. As you can see the resemblance they have in my post before this.

Can I quote you on this? I mean, apart from this once. I am sure Pheadon would like this in his confirmed features-topic.

I don't think they would have the introduction of an Original Reaper on the cover of a comic, thats surely a reveal thats gonna be saved for the game (if they appear)

That's quite obviously an elcor that's gone through upgrades similar to those bestowed upon Saren. Notice the hunched posture, and that the tubing is not disimilar from the folds on an elcor's face.

Disdain and contempt: You are nothing, asari *****. The reapers will sweep across the galaxy like a plague of klixen, destroying all organic life which refuses to submit.

Hatred: Die die die.

It kinda looks like that robot transformer-like machine the protagonist gets into at the end of Dictrict 9.

It does strongly resemble the prothean on Arcian's avatar- it has the same tenticled mouthparts, is bipedal, and the arms look strikingly similar.

However there are two big differences:
1. There is no crest on the prothean seen in the vision. This can be attributed to the fact that it is a husk perhaps with a metalic addition to its body (it does look like a metal implant rather than an organic part of the original creatures body).
2. The biggest difference however is the hunched posture not seen in the protheans we see in the vision (who stand up straight). This makes the creature appear more like an elcor or krogan in the way it stands.

These can be explained...

First off, those are ME1 sketches of the protheans... They are indeed vague, so that the designers could concept them later on...
From an RP perspective, the protheans in the vision are... visions... and visions tend to be blurry and sometimes distors.

Also, consider that humans have seperate races, aesthetically different mostly because of how each race adapted to it's environment.

Same could happen to the Protheans. As far as we know, they were the only galactic species of the last cycle, and it was so for thousands of years.
Adapting to different environments of different worlds they colonized could change their aesthetics and eventually create new races within the prothean species.
On the Collector Ship, EDI says that the Collector in the pod is descendent from a colony in the Styx Theta cluster. She said that based on the Collector's genes.

So Prothean genes differ based on the colony from which they grew up. We all know that genes = appearance.
