Will ME2 romances be continued if you turned the LI down?

As I recall it, the romances from the first Mass Effect were carried over even if Shep turned the LI in question down en route to Ilos, skipping the romance scene but keeping the romance intact.

Now, I'm wondering if this will be the case with ME2's romances as well, as most of the pre-Omega 4 'rejections' end on a pretty good note. The way I see it, four of the six basically come down to "The mission takes priority right now.", which wasn't that unrealistic a notion at the time. The obvious exceptions are Jack, who basically walks away crying, and Garrus, with his horrible interspecies awkwardness thing.

When looking at Miranda, Tali, Jacob and Thane, you see that their 'rejection' scenes aren't a rejection per se, more turning down the offer to get physical at that exact moment. The relationships themselves are implied to continue. Heck, even the other two could probably be salvaged one way or another.

Thoughts?

And dev clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

Would it still be possible to terminate the romance post-SM, after you turned your LI down? If so, that would indicate the continuation of the romance if turned down.

I broke it off with Miranda after the SM.  Ash's picture came back up afterwards.  I thought that was just for Liara after you did the LotSB, but I was mistaken.  Miranda was cool with it, but I suppose we will see come March.

March it still too far off, sighs.

I doubt it would register as a continued romance, but then again even if you rejected people in Mass Effect 1 sometimes they ended up being the love interest anyway, so I guess we'll just have to see. But it is true, most of these are about sex and one would hardly think that delaying sex would equal 'I don't want a relationship'.

As far as messing up and continuing romances by accident, I certainly hope not, because I accidently made it to the penultimate romance dialogue with Jack before I was able to close it off on my first playthrough where I was being faithful to Ashley. While Ashley's picture didn't end up face down (the clear indication that the romance didn't go through), I still do worry about a glitch showing up and me being penalized for something I didn't actually do. But still, I have other playthroughs and different save files if worse comes to worse.

Also for what it's worth, if you rejected Jack when she was in that fragile state, you are going to a very special hell. And you deserve it.

Shepard can refuse to be the prize before the suicide mission, and her relationship with Jacob remains intact. Post-SM dialogue is just different. It would be cool if ME3 actually recognized this subtlety somehow, but I so doubt it will. The series has had a less than stellar track record for the details.

It made more sense to me that everybody fighting the final battle should go in horny rather than sleepy and spent, anyways. Save it all up for the orgiastic celebration.
