They did that scene poorly. More than poorly really. They just made her look horrible, and I don't know why when they could've made it not be horrible

They would have to change the female elf body types back to something normal. The S shaped pretzel + extra long neck doesn't help.

As to the OP...depends on who your Hawke will be. Sanity not required for any of them. Posted Image

The Arishok. :D

I've tried all of the romances in DA2, and they kind of fell short to me. That's not to say that I thought they were terrible, but every single LI could have used some improvement. I think that if there would have been more dialogue available for each LI, so we could really delve into what made each LI their own unique person, each romance would have seemed more fulfilling.

I'm still holding a candle for Cullen. Oh, and the Arishok. And Stroud. And Castillon. And Nathaniel Howe. Honestly, there are so many possibilities.

Varric, but he obviously realizes he can do better.

Her hand.

Though I would say, out of all the options offered, Isabela is the most emotionally stable one. If that's what you're after.

None of them, really. At least not for a sane Hawke with a measurable IQ. I mean, Anders is insane, Fenris whines, Merrill is stupid, and Isabela has STDs

CQFD. :D

Sebastian. Hawke's moving up in the world, having the Prince Of Starkhaven wrapped around one's finger could potentially be quite beneficial.

I feel that the "right" LI choice depends on the "personality" of your Hawke character and the story you construct of them.

For me, what felt the best for my female Hawke mage was Fenris.

I actually liked that the characters had noticable 'flaws'...

Not when they're repeatedly thrown in your face throughout the entire game. Oh look, Merril's meant to be cute! Let's apply it so thickly that she becomes pretty much incapable of rational thought (herpderp demons spirits r good), acts like a child and is so ignorant and naive it makes a player want to whack her over the head with a spade*. Oh look, Isabela likes sex. Hey guys, I've had sex with lots of people! Hey guys i've had sex with lots of people! Yes Isabela, we get it, you have sex with a lot of people. Oh look, Fenris hates mages. Look at him, repeatedly harping on about it again and again and again and again and again! Oh look, lets get the polar opposite of the argument with Anders who will not SHUT THE F*CK UP ABOUT MAGE FREEDOM. Don't you like me Carver? No I don't like you. It's sad you don't like me because I'm a mage. NO IT'S BECAUSE YOU WON'T SHUT THE F*CK UP ABOUT IT.

Jheeze louise, I can understand why Anders ended up how he did, but Jesus f*cking Christ I actually find him infuriating, and no amount of understanding why he is how he is will ever make me like him, unlike Loghain who screwed Ferelden over, likes harping on about Orlais while yet I find him tolerable, if not likeable.

/rage over

So uh, yeah, to answer the OP's question, I'd say not pursuing a romance at all makes the most sense for any Hawke since the LIs are so flawed, one-dimensional, annoying and uninteresting.

*definitely a love or hate character, some people will find it endearing but there are others who just want to whack her in the face repeatedly to hopefully beat the stupid out of her.

And your point is?  God forbid we sleep with someone who formerly had STDs but no longer has them because she got them treated.  That's just nasty, right?

Forget that STDs have always been prominent. Some of your direct ancestors probably had them.

Exactly. Just like people in real life don't have STDs because of doctors -- except mages are a bit more effective than doctors to the point where it's pretty much a complete non-issue.

Pretty much any sexually active person is going to catch some kind of sexually transmitted infection in their life, whether they know it or not. You would probably be even less likelier to catch an infection from Isabela than a "normal" person, because she directly demonstrates that she a) knows how to indentify an infection, and B) is willing to have it treated instead of ignoring it and spreading it.

If sleeping with a person who has had a sexually transmitted infection at any time in their life is completely out of the question, I hope you like virgins.

Says you. Or anyone who would only focus on the negative and dismiss the positive because it doesn't fit their point of view.

I admit they all got on my nerves sometimes, but they also all had great moments. Deep moments. To me, they were all flawed, yes, and not perfect writing-wise, but certainly not one-dimensional and uninteresting. I could go into details for each, but I have the feeling it would be a waste of time.

Sorry if I come across a bit confrontational, but flash analysis such as CrimsonZephyr's up there and dismissal of lines and lines of dialogs, actions and backstory is easy, cheap and really annoys me.

Not mentioning the "Isabela has STDs" line, which is judgmental and slightly offensive, but let's not go there.

@OP

Depends on which female Hawke, obviously.

Hell, some of the people you've slept with have probably had them. Something like 60% of the US is infected with the herpes simplex virus.

STD hysteria is ridiculous. They are not that big of a deal. We don't need more excuses to **** shame women who enjoy sex.

You may be right but this is something I really can't do anything about. Like in - you can't choose your parents.
But I can choose not to sleep with someone who have/had it.

I went with Isabela. I applied to my Hawke the ages old wisdom of "don't stick it in the crazy". Isa was the only LI that qualified.

Many people don't know they are infected. Some people know, and lie about it (whether it's because of a malicious desire to spread infection or because of overblown STD hysteria and sex shame that make them fearful). If you have had sex with someone who has had previous sex partners, you have probably had sex with someone with an infection at some point in your life. If you are not regularly tested, it's entirely possible that you may have asymptomatic infections without your knowledge.

Only having sex with people who have never and will never have a sexually transmitted infection in their lives is not realistic.

Personally, I'd much rather sleep with a person who has had infections and is responsible for their own sexual health in the form of using protection and taking the responsibility to be regularly tested and/or treated, than sleep with a person who believes they've never been infected because they've never been tested and don't think it could ever happen to them because ONLY SLUTS GET STDS, AND I'M NOT A SLUT!

@OP: It depends on the FemHawke. For some all of them may make sense in a way or none of them will.

Though I would rivalmance Merrill. She at least knocks off the idiocy after a while (granted it's after she's seen it's effects but hey better late than never).

Well, I didn't bring up the Isabela STD thing, I simply said she just won't shut up about who she's shagged even once she's meant to have gotten with Hawke.

Now of course all of the characters have their positives (talking to Isabela after doing her in Act 2, though admittedly I wanted to strangle Hawke for the sheer cheesyness of "what about true love". Or Merrill in the rivalry path finally accepting the mirror was a bad thing and shattering it. The problem I have is, that I don't feel they outweigh the negatives. Those conversations are good, but once you get back to doing stuff in Kirkwall their banters return to the "hurhur blood magic ish gud" and "hai guise gues wat i had sex again derp" which is just .... bleurgh.

Don't worry about coming across as confrontational though lol, the amount of vitriol I come out with in regards to DA2 is ridiculous ;D
