If Dragon Age is going to be a series people are supposed to be allowed to drop in to whenever they like (though DA2 was terrible at this, newcomers to the series aren't going to have a clue who Ostagar, Cailan or Flemeth are, or even understand why darkspawn are a threat and what a blight is), making the protagonist Leliana would be pretty stupid since people who didn't play Origins wouldn't even know who she was since she gets like 5 seconds of camera time at the very end of the game (excluding Exiled Prince DLC).

Cassandra on the other hand would make much more sense, though I'd really want to be able to play an elf or dwarf again tbh; I found it so cool in DA:O to make an elf female warrior (since they're kinda short and the skinniest built of all the options you get) and giving them heavy armour with the heaviest looking maul or battleaxe and seeing them be a badass.

Or a DLC where you play an Andrastian Blood Mage (they don't know he's a blood mage of course!) set out to find the Sacred Urn of Ashes who (in case of Leliana's death/otherwise that Cult Leader) will have to necromance her to be able to enter the Gauntlet. Image IPB

Is it wrong that i read that as necro-romance her?Image IPB

Why would I want to play as Leliana? I liked her as a NPC in DAO, but playing "her" in DA3 would be a horrible idea.

No, thanks. I'd like to create my own thank you or at least given the illusion that I'm creating my own character (aka Hawke).

I never really understood why Leliana HAD to be resurrected, as someone else entirely could've simply been 'Sister Nightingale' instead of her.

I assume they've got plans for her role in future games.  The little bit at the end implies it, and you're right that it would be a bit pointless to resurrect her for the minor role she played in DA2.

I can't stand Leliana. Every female stereotype known to man with an obnoxious accent and an erring faith is a ridiculously flawed religion. I would give her DA:O persona the benefit of the doubt, but now that she is basically a member of the Chantry black ops...no, just no.

If that piece of Orlesian trailer trash shows up in any major capacity, I only hope we get a chance to kill her. Again.

No. Even if The Witcher is better than DA2, in the future I will always choose first a game of Bioware. Why ? It's simple.

They allow the elemental basis, which is to allow to choose the gender, color, and sometimes the origin of my pc. And especially the ability to create a face.

Do not impose to me who I want to play.

And Leliana ? No, thank you. Not really interesting as a Pc.

Absolutely not. I, for one, wouldn't be able to relate to Leliana in the slightest, and she doesn't have enough depth to stand on her own as a preset playable character, depsite the backstory, Leliana's song etc... Plus, she's way too involved with the Chantry, and the last thing I want to play is a Chantry lackey.

Plus you'd have the same problem as with the Warden. Either you start her fully built and she'd be boring to play, or you strip her from the abilities she gained in DAO, and what would be the point? Plus how would you explain the infamous and oh so capable Sister Nightingale being a Level 1 noob?

On a side note, I'd like it if some people would lay off the "obnoxious accent" remark. Leliana's isn't obnoxious but quite accurate (as opposed to many other Orlesians). It is, in fact, almost the same accent I have when I speak English, only a bit heavier. So thanks for telling me I have an obnoxious accent. It is not xenophobic at all. <_<

No thanks. I'd like to see the return of race selection in DA3 (though I know it's difficult due the probably voiced PC). With Leliana we can't even choose her class (and letting us choose it it will be an enourmous retcon, especially for the mage class).

Leliana is basically what happens when you pile up 20 female stereotypes and give the pile an obnoxious accent. So no.

You summed up every major character ever created by BioWare though, several sterotypes mashed together with a accent occasionally thown in for "uniqeness".

And why did Bioware choose Leliana to have her own DLC where she is the star while the rest of the cast did not?

Might have had something to do with 2 years of dlc nixxed in favor of "DA2 coming together faster/better than expected".

As to the OP I vote No and also not interested.

Secondly, as awesome as some people may think this character is, myself and many others thinks that she sucks.  So no, Leliana won't be the protagonist...

Then how do you explain Hawke?

Leliana as a companion, yes.

Protagonist, no.

Predefined characters should not be controllable by the player. Witcher got away with it since Garralt has amnesia, but they reduced this scope in the second by making Garralts options always in-character ones from the books as his memory returns.

If you're gonna have a Seeker protagonist, have Cassandra. The player's interaction with her was lower than Leliana so she can be molded to a main player character without as much deviaton from her stablished personality.
Plus, Cassandra is awesome.

Pretty much this. But you play as another Seeker with both Cassandra and Leliana as companions. Sounds promising to me.

People would be extremely unhappy with Leliana as a protagonist and rightfully so. Hawke is already restrictive enough.

And I disagree about Leliana being the deepest DA:O companion.

It depends. What are they seeking, exactly? What did the Warden and the Champion have that no one else in Thedas has that made Leliana give up so easily and pass the responsibility for seeking on to the Maker? How would you play someone who gives up that easily?

That would wipe out almost 40 years of videogaming then!

Accepting coin for humans and slaying dragons were possible, but perhaps out of character.  And depending on your view, 40% of the game was out of character.

Keep in mind that if you want Leliana to be the protagonist, you can't have a silent protagonist, or be an elf or dwarf or any other race of being.  Worse, you would have to be willing to break into song at least once before the adventure is over.  And you might feel like you want to run back to Orlais at some point, except that if DA3 takes place in Orlais, you can't run or hide.

No thank you.

I want a FRESH character that I can make my own.

I would not object to Leliana being a companion but I would NOT buy DA:3 if she was the companion,

And on a side not, I actually disliked her during the quest with Sebastion.  <_<
