Although I was watching some videos of Vanguard gameplay, and it looked really fast-paced and fun.

Sentinel is what I play as , because I like to have as many, and IMO the most useful and varied powers at my side. I did Advanced Weapons Training in Sniper Rifles, so I got to experience that as well.

Vanguard is pretty sick. You get a lot of super close combat, with plenty of insta-kills. I recently finished a play-through of both ME1&2 as an Adept and it was prolly the most fun I've ever had, especially in ME2 where you can do precision throws.
Is Sentinal really the "tank" in Mass Effect? I'm thinking about starting a play-through as one.

Infiltrator is a close second. I like Sentinel, too, but in a different way. Hybrid classes are my faves.

This seems to be the consensus, but it was not exactly my experience. Sentinel was interesting for me to play because they have a power for every situation, but are necessarily team players because you need to make good use of your squadmates to get the most out of the class. Although, yes, you can just kind of blow through insanity with tech armor if you use it wisely.

Soldier: Versatility. There is literally not a single situation you can't deal with, with a proper build and the proper weapons. AdRush is fun.
Infiltrator: Cloaking sniper. Nothing more needs to be said.
Vanguard: Dark Energy-surfing and shotgunning through the entire game like a boss.
Sentinel: Run'n'Gun-style with Tech Armor is refreshing from the coverfest of the other 5 classes.
Adept: Maybe the most fun class in the game, and the most interesting.
Engineer: Basically Dronespam and nothing else. Not stimulating, imho (for you anti-Sentinel naysayers; at least Tech Armor has an element of danger given that the CD is 4 times longer than the drone). Battlefield control with Hack/Dominate is interesting, but the combo is much more fun with Infiltrator.

Yes as sentinal you're pretty much a tank. If you upgrade your tactical armor up to assault armor then you practically can't die. And if you use stasis on a lone enemy you could go up to enemy and melee them to death without fear of getting one shotted. In my most recent sentinal playthrough I only died 3 times through the entire game and that was only because I managed to do a really retarded move. I encourage you to try it, It makes fighting husk a lot easier.
