Our fine friends at Dark Horse Comics have made all 8 digital issues of Mass Effect Redemption and Mass Effect Evolution FREE for the next 24 hours. That's right, you can go and download all 8 comics for free.

Not only do you get the 8 issues for free and get caught up on all the happenings in the frst 2 series, for the next 24 hours there is a free 7 page preview of the upcoming new series Mass Effect Invasion, featuring the asari powerbroker Aria.

Check out the preview and download all 8 issues of the first 2 comic series only for 24 hours at Dark Horse Digital :)

That's very good news, but it seems digital.darkhose.com is experiencing problem with connection. Or only with connection with Russia. Or DDoS'ed
EDIT: to specify problem, on every step (logging in, proceeding to "Mass Effect comics", choosing "Invasion preview") massive number of "connection failed" happens and in the end there's only banner "Mass Effect: Invasion #1 preview".

When you eventually get through to the website (which takes forever), and eventually manage to create an account (which takes forever), you get the option to view them online. I can't find any option to download them.

Does anyone have any more information? I've contacted them on twitter but haven't received a reply yet.

I can see "Available on the AppStore button", but the connection...

EDIT: whoa, it shows up! Can't see anything about "download", though. Are you sure it's possible?

Does this also include Ipod issues? I'm asking because the site doesn't seem to be working right.

Perhaps you can either read them online for free (for one day only? wtf?) or download them to your iphone/ipad. And that's it.

Er, not entirely sure of the usefulness of that offer, all told.

On my app store through both iTunes & my iPhone...they are listed at $1.99 each. Nothing about being free.

Indeed. It appears they are free to read online for 24 hours. That is all. Unless someone else can work out what on earth the offer actually entails and how to access it.

I imagine with such an awesome offer of free comics, they are having some ghigh traffic volume at the moment. I use Digital Dark Horse a lot (mostly for Hellboy, the BPRD and Criminal Macabre) and it works quite well if you give it a chance.

The app store rarely lists the current sales, for whatever reason. I can't get the site to work long enough to check, but usually if you buy something on the store, it's available on your iphone. Free issues usually require a download... so it's possible they just may be free only for today, and not free to add to your library.

Wow! The team at Dark Horse comics is offering an unbelievable deal! For the next 24 hours, you can download every previous digital issue of the first two Mass Effect comic series absolutely free!! And you also get an exclusive look at Mass Effect: Invasion! Hurry! It's today only!

It says you can download them. So obviously if you download them within the next 24hrs, their yours to keep. However nowhere do i see a option to download them for free.

You cannot download them to your computer. I have asked them if they are available to read online forever if you create the account today, or if they are, in fact, only available to read online during this 24 hour period. I'll update with a reply if I get one.

I don't get it. iTunes, app store all list them at $1.99 each. They aren't free

I don't understand it either. It's all terribly worded, their website doesn't make it clear, and there is conflicting information about how you can actually access the comics. I'm trying to find out more, and will let you know if I do.

For those who want it on iphone/ipad, they have just said:

"You can also head to digital.darkhorse.com and download them to your account then open from collection in App."

For those who don't have an Apple device, and want to download it to their computers, I think you're out of luck. I'm still trying to find out if, once you've created an account, they will be available to read online for free from today onwards, or whether you can only access them for free during this next 24 hours.

I wonder why their making you jump through so many hoops.

Even the website lists the comics for $1.99 each, the Redemption bundle for $5.97 & the Evolution bundle for $7.96
