Can I get a show of hands from those of you for whom the loads are actually freezing (i.e. the spinny icon stops rotating) rather than simply taking a long time. It seemed to spark some ideas for one of our programmers so I'd like to get a sense of whether that's a common occurrence with this issue.
Thanks,
Rob
Hi Rob,
Putting this here because it may be related or relevant. If you think I should start a separate thread or post this under another topic please let me know.
I am running 1.04 and had always experienced somewhat slow load times traveling between locations on the world map and sometime even sub-maps like traveling around Denerim. Occasionally the hourglass would stop for a period and sometimes it would even crash the game. The amount of crashes was insignificant and the slow load times and occasionally stopping for a few seconds, I thought was just normal. I can't really say it took 2 minutes, a minute occasionally, so i didn't worry about it until this started happening.
However... I recently had to get a new video card and now it crashes more often when transitioning areas of the map. Like once out of every 2-3 trips. So often that I've taken to saving the game every time I open the map to go anywhere or even walk into a place that will prompt me to "Gather my party and go forth".
I was running an NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS 256 MB
NVIDIA Driver Ver.: 185.85
My video card died.
I bought a new NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti w/1GB ram
NVIDIA Driver version: 280.26
If there is a better driver to use for DA & DA II please let me knowI was running my video settings with Graphics Detail - High and Texture Detail - Medium, since upgrading the card I set Graphics Detail - Very High and Texture Detail - High. The game runs and looks great. No glitches in the game so far once I'm in an area. The only problem I'm experiencing so far is transitioning between areas.
Here is the rest of my PC Specs:
