UPDATE (Nov 2, 2012):

We've replaced the 1.05 file linked to below with a new version of the BETA. This updated 1.05 BETA resolves the excessive load times and slow downs that some users with DirectX10-era video cards were reporting with the previous file.

As a result, we're locking this thread and directing further discussion here.

Note that we continue to encounter one remaining authentication issue regarding the Blood Dragon Armor not appearing under the current 1.05 BETA. We're working on it and hope to release an official 1.05 patch once that issue has been successfully addressed.

Thanks,
Rob

-------------------------

Hi everyone,

PC Patch 1.05 has been in a private beta and we're now rolling it out to the general public as a PUBLIC BETA. Please click here to download the Patch 1.05 BETA install file.

Q: What issues does Patch 1.05 fix?
A: Patch 1.05 is entirely focused on addressing two key issues:
  • We restructured our DLC authentication process. If you were previously unable to authenticate your DLC, that should now be fixed with 1.05.
  • The Ultimate Edition installer for EA Download Manager (EADM) version of the game was placing the CD-Key in the wrong location in the Windows registry, causing a variety of issues with online functionality, tracking of achievements, and integration with the social site. The Patch 1.05 installer now copies that CD-Key into the correct location. You can confirm that this is fixed by looking at your Product Key entry in the Games tab of the Configuration Utility (available from the launcher). If your Dragon Age Origins CD-Key is no longer blank, it's been fixed.
Q: Why is Patch 1.05 a BETA? What are the risks?
A: All of our private beta testers confirmed that the two fixes listed above are now working as intended. However, some members reported a sudden increase in area loading times with the patch. In an effort to gather more data about this issue, we've decided to release 1.05 as a public beta. Based on the experiences of our private beta testers, WE EXPECT THAT SOME USERS MAY ENCOUNTER INCREASED AREA LOADING TIMES WITH 1.05.

Q: What do I do if I encounter increased loading times after installing the 1.05 BETA?
A: If you simply want to go back to how things were, you can roll back to Patch 1.04 at any time, returning your game to its previous state. That said, we'd really appreciate your help in tracking down the source of this issue. Please post to this Long Load Times thread and provide us with the requested information so we can better assess and understand the issue.

Q: Can Steam users apply the 1.05 BETA patch?
A: The Steam service unfortunately doesn't support BETA patches. However, all PC/Mac users who have registered their game automatically receive free access to the full-game download via EA's Origin service. If they wish, users who have purchased the game through Steam can uninstall their Steam version and replace it with their Origin version, thereby gaining access to the 1.05 BETA patch. Once the patch is no longer in BETA and sees an official release, Steam users will be able to access it via Steam's normal patching process.

Thanks,
Rob

UPDATE: I'm unlocking this thread (not sure why I locked it in the first place - sorry about that!) Please feel free to discuss the beta patch here as you see fit.

We realize how frustrating this must be for Steam users. If the Steam infrastructure supported the notion of beta patches, we would definitely be making use of it right now but that's simply not a reality right now. In the meantime, we've done everything we can to make the patch available in its current form to all PC users who require it.

I'm glad to hear that the beta patch is getting a lot of you back up and running with your DLC and that the slowdowns being reported aren't affecting everybody. We're continuing to work on the issue with the private beta group and look forward to getting that resolved and releasing a proper version of the patch.

For those of you wanting to download the game through EA's Origin service, you can download the service here:
* http://www.origin.com/about

Within the Origin service, there's a little gear button at the top. In the resulting dropdown menu, select "Redeem Product Code" and you'll be prompted to enter the Product Key for your game. For Steam users, they will have emailed you this code as part of the purchase process. Enter the code and the game will be added to your collection, allowing you to download a copy at any time. Within the settings tab, I recommend ensuring that the "Keep Installers" button is checked so that you don't have to redownload it again later if you're going back and forth between Steam and Origin versions.

If anyone has 1.05 working without any noticable slowdowns (ie. roughly the same as 1.04 within a few seconds) please let me know, I would like to inquire as to your hardware to help narrow down the issues for those who are having this issue.

We are diligently working on finding a solution to this issue. Unfortunately we have very limited information due to the small sample of users not only play DAO but that are also actively posting on BSN. Currently we're trying a new tactic as to figuring out the exact cause of the issue - assuming it works out we'll have a live version as soon as possible.

Thanks for the patience and I apologize for the radio silence.
