This is sad that bioware does not seem to care about their customers anymore.

Ok...maybe it is just me...but I cannot see where I can d/l this game via the Origin network...I have the steam version and thus the product code...but can't find where to go to use it for the non-steam d/l

Update for peeps taken from the cunning plans thread:

Rob Bartel wrote...

I just wanted to chime in again and confirm that work on Patch 1.05 is continuing. Changing the DLC authentication code has proven to be a significant challenge but we're getting close. We'll be releasing a new build to the private beta group today that we believe addresses the core problems with the current 1.05 beta. If that goes well, we'll roll it out as a public beta and start working to make it official.

In short, although we've faced a lot of distractions on the DA2 side, work is continuing and we haven't forgotten about this thread.

Thanks,
Rob

PS - For those suggesting the Luke and I are the only ones working on the patch, we're just the public face of this effort. I assure you - you wouldn't want either one of us touching code. ;oP

The CtD issues you mention, are the more or less since the current beta patch?

social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-Origins/Dragon-Age-Origins-PC-Technical-Support/random-crashes-89244-1.html

Look at the date. It's a problem for many users and BioWare didn't acknowledge it (at least not in the forums). It can only be fixed by BioWare. The temporary solution to set the core affinity is suboptimal, as there's a significant frame-rate drop.

Furthermore, we haven't heard anything for weeks now according patch 1.05. And I'm still eager to hear some good news about 1.06. There are still crucial issues to be addressed (technical and import issues).

All that may be true.  It doesn't change the fact that the dlc issues are the main stated objective of 1.05, longer load times are increasing with since the beta and thus are not really argueable against at this stage.  Crashes due to more than two cores?  Granted, a significant issue for some.  Not sure that will be fixed at all, but I reckon it's ludicrous to be thinking about a 1.06 when 1.05 isn't even here yet and it's already taken so long.

This dwarven warrior is furious with how the lag ingame treats him because of the serious problems that occur.

This dwarven warrior can only say they're still working on it unfortunately (on a side note: waheyy! a fellow Brosca), but as soon as there's news someone will post.

Man furtled im just...im just sick and tired of buying 1 game that i saw and played a bit and though "yeah, i like this."

But then we all had to start running around with our heads cut off like chickens searching and tweaking and fixing endlessly while EA watches us from a lazy boy chair with a cigar.

its not fair that i bought something and got basically half of it. EA games shoulda been on that like crazy, and yet here we are.

I just wish for this eternal torment to end. they could have fixed this so long ago, but they didnt. they left us in the dust and now here we all are, scrounging around for awnsers.

its been 9 straight days of trying to fix this big mess, and barely anything works.
I mean, i thought i had it at one point, but actually i couldent make any new characters. and my DLC's didnt work.

Its always, always,ALWAYS back to step one.

Im happy that you guys are all working on it, but it makes me sad that this thread, let alone ALL of this has to even exsist.

This just shouldent exsist.

Agreed.  Personally, I don't believe I expect the totally impracticable.  I think the game could and should have been 1.02a (or better) at release, 1.04 should have been long ago and 1.05?  History.

Yeah. I mean i tried Hannibals way recently with a texture improvement patch and it works fine now.

But quite honestly i shouldent have had to go through 10 days worth of tinkering to get a game done.

Sorry EA, i aint buying another video game from you again after this, unless im feeling REAL nice.

I downloaded this to try and fix the DLC Unauthorized bug and now the game does not load at all, had to reinstall to get it to work again.

The whole thing has been shambolic, and Steam customers (like me) are still basically unable to play the game we bought months ago in a summer promotion because of the DLC issues. In any other industry, I would have returned whatever "product" I'd bought long ago.

Uh, not quite.  I'm a Steam user and I've been quite happy with the game for over a year now.  My friend, who's also a Steam user, got the Ultimate edition from Steam a couple months ago and has had no problems (that he's told me of) either.

Thats happened to me a few times too, it might just be me but its now become a bit of a resourse hog. Though being able to play with the DLC is the major thing here, so having to restart ever 2~3 hours is a minor thing in comparison.

My only complaint at this point, increasing lag aside, is that my Blood Dragon Armor disappeared and the trick everyone used to use to get it back, doesn't seem to work with the beta patch. Not like I don't have better armor by this point, but still, I like to collect and if I'm supposed to have something, I want it!

BTW, I bought mine on Steam and fairly easily transferred over to Origin in order to use the patch. Took a real-time chat with an EA helper, but it actually was helpful!

So, uh... any recent updates on this? I saw it about a week after it was posted and thought "neat, maybe they'll fix some of the bugs!" but still nothing after apparently four months.

I takes 4 months for a patch to be released? Or is it more convenient to forget about it?

Those of us participating in the test group saw a new version of the patch last week, so, no, it does not seem forgotten.  Rob reported to the group that he hopes to have the latest version moved to the public soon.

And again, just to repeat, the new patch addresses 1) the original DLC authorization issue and 2) some of the slow load times/transition times experienced with the current 1.05 beta.  The dev's have made it pretty clear that nothing else is bring patched.

RaenImrahl, i really appreciate that you testers are working on the patch.

Im sorry, but we're getting a little testy...we cant wait forever and we're kinda stuck grinding our teeth for that patch to come out.

You offer us a holy grail? we'll want it, but we'll want it sooner rather than later.
